They eventually got that right too, the Butler ads were a smashing success.
Not that I don't agree with you, but why should anyone trust the opinion of someone who hasn't played a FF game since IX?
Then might I suggest you frequent another site for the next 6 months or so!
"Patcher telling it exactly like anyone who already follows gaming already knows".
FTFY.
Pachter is only relevant because the gaming media keeps paying attention to him, for no apparent reason.
New IP is good, but you need to have some heavy hitters people recognize as well, that moves systems better.
This is really feeling like Dirge of Cerberus all over again.
This guy is the Jim Cramer of the gaming analyst world, says a lot loudly and people seem to listen, but not much of it is worth much because it's all either completely obvious or just throwing darts hoping a prediction comes true so he can validate his role in the industry.
Guild Wars 2 will be occupying the majority of my time. Have enjoyed what I've played in beta so far, amazing stuff for an MMO.
I was pleasantly surprised to see Shadow Hearts 2 on this list since it's a little culty but definitely one of the best RPGs of all time as far as I'm concerned!
I bought it for $8 on the big Amazon MMO sale a while back and am glad I did. So far it's looking to be a BIG improvement, but I'll hold out until I see more in game footage, assuming they will have a GamesCom presence and an even bigger one with 2.0 at TGS this year.
I've had the same theory for a while now. It helps them shed the mostly negative vibe surrounding the FF13 name in the gaming community and lets the game stand alone on its own, which I think it deserves from what I've seen.
@h311rais3r - sounds like Fifth Element to me.
My theory all along is that FFXII Vs. would become Final Fantasy XV. That way they can shed the negative XIII vibe and re-hype around a full new entry. Maybe versus will die, but re-emerge as a standalone entry.
Same. Don't understand the praise it receives, it's a sub par FPS with a run of the mill sci-fi story. There's nothing special about it in my opinion.
Guild Wars 2. If MMOs are your bag...
The only thing that will stop this from being a success is our own incredibly faulty ISP sector in America. They will use a successful implementation of something like this to complain more bandwidth is being eaten up at a rate unlike ever before and it will just escalate lower data caps and tiered access.
This is great until you consider one thing, at least in the US. All signs point to internet costing MORE for LESS as time goes on. More stringent data caps are coming...
My friends and I must be outliers then. Core gamers, every one of us, and not one of us cares for WWE at all.
To core gamers maybe, but Sony's success this generation will depend very largely on their ability to woo back some casual audiences. That's not to say they will target the casuals, per se, but getting a piece of that pie has to be a key goal.
