They're no way close to hack the Vita so it can play Vita game isos. That's so far away in the future if not ever. That CFW is based on the PSP. So it can do everything you could do with a PSP on Vita.
What's taking a hit with that is the sells on PSN. And futher information. The CFW couldn't play PSX-isos.

TGS is a Japanese game gameshow and not internationell like E3.
Because the game isn't one big 40gig file but instead several files under 4gig. Some games have files that are bigger then 4gig. Those you gotta rip to the internal drive.
