The speed at which a browser renders a page is a big deal and differs quite a bit between browsers. But the really big deal with Chrome & Safari 4 is that they are completely changing how browsers handle javascript. Web based apps are demanding insane amounts of javascript and the old way of doing things is holding back progress. Basically, Chrome & Safari 4 are compiling JS on the fly into machine code that can be read by your computer so that you don't have to keep parsing a ton of ...

You're a web developer? And you think IE is fast?

Quick quiz: name the three most popular rendering engines in order of market share.

I was testing it out to day on the web-based apps that I design at my job. It's stinking fast. The other guys on my team were checking it out as well and had the same reaction. Safari is the only browser that competes as far as rendering speed because they are both running on WebKit.

Chrome is pretty great. It's not much of a looker right now, but it's build on WebKit so it renders pages perfectly and very quickly.

Firefox is great in many respects, but when it comes to a lot of things - the things that Chrome, and the WebKit project, are addressing it falls flat on its face. Google and Apple are now doing more to move the web forward than Mozilla can claim to. Isn't that the reason we loved Firefox in the first place? Bringing the web out of its coma?

Who cares if they are "fair" - you just get them to get them. It's not like your gamerscore is actually worth anything. Should we expect an E rated family game to have achievements that are as hard to get as ones in Gears? Of course not - that's just stupid.

There's a whole genre of (mostly perverted) photography sims in Japan - apparently they love taking pictures. Remember how GT4 had a mode where you could take pics of your cars? They eat it up.

Wow - you are a moron. Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak founded Apple Computer in 1976. That makes them CO-founders.

That's really smart - it would be great if XBL and PSN had similar functionality. It's a bummer when you have to wait hours for a download that you've been wanting to play.

If you ask BruceOnGames they already have. But, of course, he's an idiot so . . .

I hate Neversoft for ruining the GH franchise. I'm loyal to Harmonix who brought us the whole thing in the first place - and I totally want the new RB2 drums.

I know that photography sims aren't really popular outside of Japan, but I was hoping to be able to try this one out.

I think that was confirmed by some of the people they laid off - right?
