Brawl Officially Delayed

The official Smash Bros Website updated today with a surprise that no one truly expected. Outside of the daily update, the site also revealed that Brawl will now be delayed until March 9 for North America.

Due to delays in the completion of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, we've had to change the release date of the game to Sunday, March 9th.

I deeply apologize to the people who have looked forward to playing the game for so long and ask that you hold on just a little longer. Thank you for your patience.

am not the biggest wii enthusiast dnt have one myself but i got one for my little sister and all she plays is wii sports and mario party 8(not a regular gamer but she loves mario party). I remember playing the first smash bros back on 64 and i dnt really remember it being such a ground breaking experience and havent played it since. remind me again whats special bout smash bros??

If I had to take a guess, it's balancing issues + working to get the online coop/element working fine.

I'm sure this delay is only for the good of the game and they want to get this product to you ask fast as they can.

Yeah thats what I was saying on another site. Balancing issues are more then likely it. Though no one knows, but I think its safe to say that they wont be adding characters.

Ok I like how they're trying to pack as much sh*t as they can in this game, but I'm about 90% sure the game is delayed cuz they're trying to put more sh*t in the game, not because there's bugs or anything of the sort. If that's the case they coulda just made some of it downloadable content for free. Tho that'd exclude people who don't use the wii's online functions.

I bet you anything this is all a marketing ploy to try and amp the want for this game even more.

It doesn't take this long to translate a damn game to
English. ESPECIALLY one that doesn't have a whole lot of text in it.

And no it's not the online play that they haven't finished. Because Nintendo has an already built Framework that the games connect to. It's very simple for them to do that part of the game.

And the fact that it's coming out in Japan in a few days, means the game is done. But the translations aren't. And that is the only reason.

But the fact the translations aren't done yet is disturbing and I find it very hard to believe that would be the cause.

(By the way, I read the japanese section of Smash Bros Dojo, And the japanese version has only been delayed until January 31st... A mere 9 days longer then before.)

Wow. I really feel sorry for those anticpating this game, as I know its really popular and its taken for ever to get released. Lets face it, theres no many games for core gamers, so this title is badly needed!
For those not understanding why its so popular, you are not alone! I hated the game on the cube and won't be in line to buy this one! But I believe I'm in the minority with that view, as I know so many people who tell me its the best multi player brawler around...
Like it or loath it, it'll shift huge numbers when it gets released :)

I don't mind the delay so much, but i wonder what's taking so long?!?!
They aren't even implementing motion controlls. The creator himself reccomends using the Gamecube controller. And the games done since it's coming out in like 2 weeks in Japan and there's hardly any text to translate. it seems it might just be for hype.

Funny...and everyone said the PS3 had delays just look at the Wii.
Whenever Sony delays a game it's for a good reason for improvements or something secret is to be released on that game.
I think this was the main reason MGS4 was delayed to June 4th which now offically the confirmed date by Kojima.
Combine MGS4 and MGS Online add 1080P and Home Connection with a touch of style and you have a true next gen game.
