Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City sales top 2 million

According to Capcom's annual financial report out today, the Slant Six-developed title had sold 1.7 million units as of 31st March. Add the 269,000 it managed in its first week on sale in Japan during April, as well as another five weeks of trading in the US and Europe and that should put it comfortably over the 2 million mark.

who would've thought even "crap" can sell in the millions? People sure are desperate. Just add multiplayer and people buy it like hotcakes.

cemelc4521d ago

It sold on the name alone Resident evil has a lot of fans

jc485734521d ago

I simply don't get it. Why bother wasting more money on spin offs that aren't good enough? If you're a fan, I would invest a little more wisely.

ritsuka6664521d ago

Why oh why did ORC do so sell this? =(

RIP, Resident Evil as we know it, hello more POS ass action shooters =(

Ken224521d ago

It only sold cuz of the name "RESIDENT EVIL".

shodan744521d ago

The really sad thing is, if Capcom actually took the time and trouble to make a really intelligent, sophisticated atmospheric survival-horror like the Resident Evils of old, it'd probably sell even more. But because they now know they can wheel out this kind of mediocre zombie-shooter and still shift millions, they've no incentive to do so. Tragic case of a developer squandering a great IP - and consumers eagerly lapping up the tepid results just because it has 'Resident Evil' in the title.

They the reason my steam library is growing, the bundles are crazy

__y2jb44d ago (Edited 44d ago )

As if that pile of old ass games is worth $350. I mean there’s some good titles there for sure but there’s no way most gamers haven’t already got or played most of them already. Lots of them haven’t aged well too.

It’s basically $30 for a bunch of games you’ll never play.

Some love for Resident Evil Code Veronica, Dino Crisis, or Okami would be nice Capcom.

Code Veronica’s gotta be on the way. It’s the biggest missing link as far as remakes. Make it so!

What I'll never understand with Dino Crisis was that with RE6, they went down a action heavy route which people disliked and didn't fit the RE formula but I feel that would have worked perfectly for Dino Crisis if they went down the Dino Crisis 2 route of being a action game over the more RE inspired DC1.

As long as it's nothing like DC3, Id absolutely love a new DC game.
