Top 5 Game Endings That Need To Be Changed

From the PlanetXbox360.com feature top list:

"It’s a travesty what happened to Mass Effect 3. It could have been the greatest game of all time. It could have shown Hollywood the real way to end a trilogy with no Ewoks or visits to the frontier through time travel. But instead, it has ruined the trust between what was once perceived as the “Lords of RPGs” and its fans; and now, we want a real ending to go along with our $60 overpriced purchase. This isn’t the first time us entitled gamers have felt the wrath of disappointment. It has occurred more often than not and it’s time to stand up and voice our concerns about the industry that has failed us. Let us organize and, if we have to, riot on the streets of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada to get the outcome we expect: a new ending, along with influencing other once-trusted gaming publishers with new endings for the following games."

I didn't have problems with ME3's ending...

undercovrr4826d ago

So all the war assets you collected in the game, all the good vs evil decisions you made..yet the ending is the same for everyone? Let's not even talk about the decisions made in the first 2 games. Well i'm glad you are happy with the ending..i'm not.

SilentNegotiator4826d ago

It wasn't the same for everyone! Mine was blue!

andibandit4825d ago

It would've been fine for me if there was a brown one too.

360GamerFG4825d ago

Oh but there was a brown one, in fact all 3 were brown. Brown and very smelly!

Topshelfcheese4825d ago

@undercovrr

I don't understand your hate, there are really only 3 ways to end the story. 1. Stop the reapers 2. Everyone dies or 3. you all hug it out and have a party.

Yes all three choices in the game involved stopping the reapers, but in today's happy endings world, they aren't going to let you kill off humanity...

My only issue with the way it ended was the damn normandy scene, that made no sense in the whole context of what they did.

BattleAxe4825d ago (Edited 4825d ago )

^^^
**Spoiler**
I think Bioware could have done a better job with the ending to ME3. I thought that I would just be stopping the Reapers, but instead you decision boiled down to 2 different choices, either you become a Reaper yourself and lose the character that you've spent all that time building up, or destroy the Reapers and send the whole galaxy back to the stone age and kill yourself in the process. I'm not outraged about it like alot of other people are, but I think it was a stupid way to end the series.

RIPSKATEDESTROY4826d ago (Edited 4826d ago )

yes, a game is the developers vision, not everyone else's, same thing goes for movies, books .... everyone is free to agree or disagree but to change it? no.

aliengmr4826d ago

Movies, books and games are changed all the time. You know this right?

Xof4825d ago

Except that's not the case with games. Games are an INTERACTIVE media. Do you know what that word means? INTERACTIVE. Look it up. You'll shit bricks.

RIPSKATEDESTROY4825d ago

its still the developers vision, thats all im saying

sjaakiejj4825d ago

I agree with you RipSkatedDestroy, though I also agree with the people who are screaming to change it.

Having finished the game now, I can say that to a certain extend, the developers vision should remain intact. Whether you like or dislike it is subjective. But what they can do is extend the ending, and perhaps offer a few more choices. The biggest problem with the ending is not just that "your choices do not matter". That's actually a very poor explanation of the problem with the ending. The problem related to that is that the choices are not reflected in the ending. Even if the outcome was the same for all endings, the choices you made throughout 3 games should at least have been shown, and this would've satisfied a large amount of people.

The second big problem with the ending is a lack of closure. This too can be resolved by simply extending the ending, perhaps through DLC, to indicate what happens to all the characters in the series, or perhaps only the important ones.

After 3 games, I to a certain extend agree with the people who feel dis satisfied with the ending Bioware gave us. Considering it's the last game in the series, there was a large oppurtunity for Bioware to give a large variety of endings, including a very hard to get "perfect" ending. This would've given gamers an immense amount of replay value, and it would've avoided all the problems people have with the endings.

SilentNegotiator is right!

Mine was red!

But still, people this is getting annoying, don't you think we have hit that point where we move on? Its been 3 weeks now

LUCKYXS7LEVEN4825d ago

it's everyone's opinion but in the end it's just a game and if the creators thought it was in best interest to end the series the way they did, so be it. i play games for the fun of it and the story whether it has a good or bad ending, i still enjoy the ride until i move to the multiplayer part were i start dropping the curse words dictionary onto the other team.

A sports game? Legends of Rock?

What the fuck? What a pathetic list, some of these games don't even have actual endings.

sjaakiejj4825d ago (Edited 4825d ago )

"No game endings need to be changed you stupid assholes"
Agree.

"You didn't like it...GET OVER IT"
Disagree.

Two main problems are the closure (or rather, the lack of it) it gives to fans of the series, and the fact that choices aren't reflected in the ending, whilst they very easily could be, and were promised to be.

Both of these things can be achieved without changing the ending, but instead extending it, through DLC.

Raf1k14825d ago

I agree with you but I think what you said should have been achieved in the game to begin with and as such any DLC for closure should be free.

sjaakiejj4825d ago

I agree Raf1k1, it should've been in the game. The whole point of the game being the final game in the franchise was to give fans conclusive answers, and they didn't do that.

Whilst I agree that morally speaking the DLC should be free, corporatively speaking I'm not sure if they'll be able to do it. Extending the ending would require a substantial amount of resources, and with a large publisher helming the company, it's unlikely they'd get the funding they'd need to release free DLC that extends the ending.

Anon19744825d ago

I still don't understand why there was any confusion here. This was exactly the same thing that happened with ME2. When it came to the main plot, your choices didn't amount to jack. The fact that they had any impact anywhere in the game was something that most games don't even attempt to bring into play - but for some reason, it was all good for Mass Effect 2 and everyone cheered that game as a triumph, Mass Effect 3 made people lose their minds.

I just don't get the hypocrisy of it. Bioware was boasting about the impact of choices and their new, morality system before Mass Effect 2 and it didn't happen. I think from now on, when anyone whines about "My choices didn't matter," in Mass 3 they should state why it didn't bother them in ME2. And if it did bother them in ME2, why did they expect anything different from ME3.

sjaakiejj4825d ago

@Darkride

That's actually incorrect. Your choices did matter in Mass Effect 2. Whilst you correctly assert the ones from Mass Effect 1 didn't mean anything in the second game, it was the choices you made in the second game (loyalty, non-loyalty; Upgrades, no upgrades; Good leader, Bad leader) that mattered in the final wrap up of the game.

War Assets in the third game didn't do anything at all to really change the outcome. You still get almost the same ending, with a small but insignificant difference due to the overall lack of closure. To top it off, the third game was supposed to wrap things up, and being the last game in the series, expectations for the choices you made in the first and second game were much higher.

Legion, Zaeed, and Jack are my favorites.

RiseNShine186d ago

To think that Bioware at some point was capable of doing games like this, you see those characters and remember them like good old friends, and now check ME Andromeda, Anthem, Veilguard etc and wonder what the hell happened.

anast186d ago

They lost too much talent.

IAMRealHooman186d ago

some in andromeda are decent, I agree with peebee and Vetra being good companions. Except Liam he's trash tier
