VGW: Warning: This review contains minor spoilers to the DLC in question.
If you weren’t excited enough for Mass Effect 3 to pre-order the Collector’s Edition (which this DLC comes with), then you probably aren’t big enough into the game for this DLC to force you to part ways with $10. With only a small amount of content, it’s recommended that you wait for this DLC to go on sale in the next few months. That is, of course, unless you really want a Prothean on your team. In that case, the sooner you buy this content during the course of your playthrough, the more enjoyment you will receive from it.

So not only does it hit day one but now seems to me based on reviews like this that this $10 content is pretty "light" for a $10 piece of content.
