'Portal 2,' 'Skyrim' win at Game Developers Choice

"Portal 2" leapt over the competition to win the most trophies at the Game Developers Choice Awards.

Why are games from last year getting awards at this year's GDC?

360GamerFG4852d ago

Are you for real with this question bro? For the same reason movies from last year pot oscars at this year's academy awards.
Seriously, what were you expecting? Games from Januansy and February only?

Tuxmask554852d ago

Now that you mention it, that makes perfect sense.

tantobanto4852d ago (Edited 4852d ago )

The handheld mobile category was a sham. I cant take these awards seriously without a single ds or psp game includes both of which considering are over 6 years old had an amazing year last year

OmniSlashPT4852d ago

Game DEVELOPERS Choice. GOTY? Skyrim lol is that sarcasm or are they really serious about that? I guess they're still lagging from the last VGA's lmao

glennco4852d ago

the problem with portal2 is the length. i finished the damn thing too fast and just want more more more. they need to make some extremely advanced levels like trials HD where there are some that are almost impossible or at the very least huge and complex.

MS could compress their games on disc

raWfodog36d ago (Edited 36d ago )

Skyrim is still my favorite ES game. I’m playing through it again right now since I never finished it.

jznrpg26d ago

Morrowind is by far my favorite. But I’m getting old and played Daggerfall Morrowind and Oblivion before Skyrim

ActualWhiteMan36d ago

Yeah totally. Definitely won’t be hacking it Nintendo 🤞🏻

Simon's Quest is better than Symphony.

If you're gonna troll, at least make a legitimate attempt.

Levii_9242d ago

Hot damn that's a good list. The only one i never played is AOE2 and i never finshed Chrono Trigger but it was damn good.

Speaking of what's old but holds up amazingly well and plays like a dream.. i played Symphony of the Night for the first time in 2019.. yep that's right. It became one of my favourite games of all time that i replay almost every year. I couldn't believe how good it was. That is almost impossible for me with newer games let alone older ones. Truly a special gem.

LG_Fox_Brazil41d ago

That's a pretty fucking great list

__y2jb41d ago (Edited 41d ago )

The only one I’d disagree with is doom. It shows its age badly I think. After 5 minutes of play these days you put it down.

Fallout and Skyrim show us that talented developers make great games when you leave them alone

That judicious lack of oversight permeated everything in Bethesda's RPGs, in a positive fashion.

I much prefer a left alone Obsidian and Larian Studios. Bethesda's formula has grown old for me.

anast63d ago

Larian hit another level with DOS:2 and then took it even further with BG3. They do high quality work.

Skyrim was a letdown compared to previous games and so was Fallout 4

Kosic63d ago

I agree, I found it an interesting game. But nowhere near worth the hype (unless you include mods)

dmonee64d ago

Skyrim blew my mind when it released. That game took me to the gaming, promisedland. Going back to it when it was updated for the PS5, it felt slightly rough around the edges, but great for its time

TheColbertinator64d ago

We should leave Obsidian alone. Bethesda on the other hand should be kept under constant psychiatric observation.

anast63d ago

Skyrim feels like the game was made in a hurry with a disorganized team.
