"Quality/quantity we saw in the PS2 generation"? PS2 marked the downfall of JRPGs. Developers seemed to be lost on how they could use the new tech to make great RPGs. Final Fantasy stopped being Final Fantasy, Breath of Fire died, every Tri-Ace game pretty much sucked...

Knight_Cid's list show how they still can't figure it out. FF13-2 tries to save a failed game by failing a little less, Pokémon doesn't evolve (pun intended), Xenoblade and many other JRPGs tried to incorporate terrible WRPG ideas (like endless useless sidequests), Kingdom Hearts plot is a total mess by now, and the list goes on.

I was talking about PS2-era games in that paragraph. SO3 and Radiata Stories were really, really bad. And I do own SO4. Not as terrible as their PS2 RPGs, but it's mediocre at best.

Three games on his list seem to be good. But that's all. The rest is way more quantity over quality.

Look for "Final Fantasy XIII" on Metacritic. Look at the scores XIII received (83/100) and then at the XIII-2 scores (79/100). Yeah, the sucky XIII got even higher scores.

I've played them from Red to White (truth be told, I didn't finish them all for the very reason we're discussing). Only a blind person couldn't see that they are basically the same game, only with different graphics and uglier Pokémon.

Tons? Are you sure you played it? You only got.. what, seven side quests in the end of the game? And they all were related to the plot and were interesting. Compare it to the 480 "kill X monsters, pick X itens" side quests in Xenoblade.

The wii is pretty much dead. The only good games coming out for it are Xenoblade, Last story and Pandora tower. That pretty much it according to gamefaqs release chart. Everything else is just a bunch of party games.

Dragon quest X is just an mmo and that will most likely stay in japan. The last DQ game on the that came to the states only sold 140k. The Wii is a dying platform. Just accept that.
