EA: Xbox 360 Mass Effect 3 can't import your saved game from the cloud

Kotaku writes: "EA has warned Xbox 360 gamers that their Mass Effect 3 saved games won't import if they're stored in the 360's data cloud. They'll have to be located on or transferred from the console on which they were created."

"Currently there is one scenario in which you cannot salvage the save file: if you have ever moved your save file to the cloud and the original system is not available to transfer it back to. We understand this may be a great setback to those impacted who have been following the Mass Effect franchise over the years. We thank you for your patience."

Sorry 360 owners.

I'm sure the 4 xbox owners around the world who are in the situation you just detailed feel comforted by your condolences. The rest of us know that cloud is a back up of the original back up.

I haven't seen a laughably silly reply like that in some time. Yeah, everyone still rocks their old 360 ;)

Of course there are some out there that have been fortunate enough to do so, but there's also those that have not. You play ME2 and beat it on your old Elite and pick up a 250GB slim, copying it to the new console. Guess what? You're SOL. If you're okay with that, cool, but don't downplay it to make yourself feel better.

@yesmynameissumo

There's those magical little devices called USB. Transfer your saves to there, and then onto your new HDD. Problem solved.

@ xPhearR3dxX

Maybe you don't understand. USB will absolutely work in transferring the save. However, if you are transferring it to a 360 DIFFERENT than the one the save was created on, you're SOL. Doesn't matter if it's magic USB, blood sacrifice, or four leaf clover.

Understand the problem, then try to solve it.

@yesmynameissumo

I think you need to understand the problem yourself and learn to read.

"They'll have to be located on or transferred from the console on which they were created."

If you transfer your Mass Effect saves from an OLD 360 to a new Slim using a USB stick, they will work just fine. You just can't transfer it through cloud on your OLD 360 and then download it and transfer once you set up your Slim. I've already done this and it works just fine.

It's not that hard to understand.

I'd be so pissed if I fell into this category. Especially since according to the first post here in the comments where the scenario is you don't have the original system. Considering so many 360's (and this is not a fanboy rage comment) had problems there is a good chance people don't have their original system and they are being screwed b/c of microsoft.

Ouch.

--Onilink--4445d ago

well considering that saving to the cloud is such a recent feature, im guessing the amount of people that had a defective 360 replaced it way before this was even introduced, so the ones screwed are basically those whose console failed pretty recently

I don't see why you couldn't just copy it back. As long as the gamertag that the savefile is associated with is on the xbox, there should be no problem.
