Grand Theft Auto V PS3/Vita Integration Is PlayStation's Golden Opportunity

"Grand Theft Auto V, set to release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, is unarguably one of the most anticipated releases of 2012. With PS3 and Vita integration playing an active role in the success of Sony’s latest mobile gaming device, the idea of taking advantage of the technology that exists through the PlayStation platform is breathtaking."

YUP..if I could play GTA5 at home and then continue my game on my Vita, then YES...I'd buy one no questions.

NukaCola4464d ago

I'd like to see this. Sort of would make us happy on a double win because we haven't gotten our San Andreas Stories yet. Would be really nice maybe, to get SA Stories on Vita with crossplay MP modes. That would also be pretty smart to do.

LOGICWINS4464d ago

YUP, Nick makes a lot of good points. Say you get call in the game, you can use your Vita to answer the call and accept or reject the mission by voice.

Vita also brings up the possibility of tag teaming with other players in your location on a mission.

aCasualGamer4464d ago

Yes!

But we need to find a way to make Sony become more active on this type of integration. Make them work with publishers for these types of deals.

Maybe... Instead of buying "exclusive character, missions, DLC" deals from publishers they could buy "exclusive PSV integration" deals?

Use the same money to triple the effect of the marketing. PS3 owners will get interested in PSV, PSV owners will get interested in PS3 and new customers will get interested in both consoles.

We don't necessarily need a GTAV title on the PSV if the costs are too high, but we can atleast get the integration of PSV as a controller for the PS3 version. Like the GPS integration during gameplay or phone ringing. Although i would rather have the PSV version of GTAV aswell as the integration.

If that kind of revolutionary integration is possible then Sony should do it, heck i'd even take part in the funding of that deal.

We need that kind of revolutionary integration, BEFORE PS4 and nextgen consoles.

Imagine:

GTA V mission is available, you get a phonecall on your PSV. You accept it by saying, "I accept" or some other voice command. Then you go to your PS3 version and use PSV as a GPS do drive to your mission. And the one thing that is revolutionary would be if PSV owners could use PSV as a PS3 remote.

or...

Imagine using PSV as a PS3 remote for Fighting games, where you could use the PSV screen as a command list for your characters ingame without pausing.

or...

Imagine using a PSV as a PS3 remote for Resident Evil 6 and the screen being used as an inventory screen.

The possibilities are endless....

BUT, the most important thing is that Sony become more active on making these deals.

Denethor_II4463d ago

That's actually a great idea with the answering your phone. The possibilites are very exciting. I'm using my Vita to write this, and it works really well.

Voxelman4464d ago

but would you buy the game and all the DLC twice?

LOGICWINS4464d ago

Nope. I'd buy it ONCE on my PS3 and expect everything to cross over to my Vita.

DarkBlood4464d ago

yeah that is if they bundled the 2 versions together "logicwins" dlc probably easier to pay for once and works on both if its not coded too differently

tiffac0084464d ago (Edited 4464d ago )

If Sony can expand the titles that can do Cross-Play content. Then we may not have to buy anything twice, just once for both system.

http://www.eurogamer.net/ar...

IF they can pull this off then it can be a big thing.

@Knight_Cid (below)

I think your mistaken, if people can carry over the save files of their games on the go and make progress while on break (from school or work) then that could be a big feature that has a possibility of moving systems.

brodychet4464d ago

Oh god yes. Oh god. That'd be my fantasy<33333333

mugoldeneagle034464d ago

And when this, Call of Duty & hopefully Dark Souls/Skyrim (or any Elder Scrolls game) get released, I guarantee it will sell TONS and we'll see that 3DS redesign with the frankenstick built into the system a lllitttlllee bit quicker than Nintendo planned...

Honestly, if gtaV came out on the vita, I would buy it day one. Some of my best GTA experiences were on the psp, and I can only imagine how they could integrate the touch screen and other capabilities.

If you guys would like your voice to be heard by RockStar Games, please comment at the source as I will be passing the link along to RockStar Games next week!

Knight_Cid4464d ago

it would be a disaster

Anything regarding gta V on the vita is worthless

The psp actually got exclusive gta games. Are we giving up on vita?

MariaHelFutura4464d ago

Most of the games on the PSV are exclusive to it.

FuckSony4464d ago

@ Knight_Cid
Why do you hate the Vita so much?.

brodychet4464d ago (Edited 4464d ago )

Yeah, one long private-message session i've had with Knight_Cid, told me that he isn't the smartest guy around. Also he uses the little intelligence he has being negative and ignorant.

Meh. Give the little guy a break.

jacksonmichael4464d ago

He even went so far as to call me a worthless troll once. The irony was painful. Lol.

Knight_Cid4464d ago

are all you trolls and liars lisening to yourselfs?

I actually like and care about vita unlike you

GTA V on vita would be bad because it wouldnt be exclusive and it wouldnt move systems

What I want is something that will help vita

and that is an exclusive gta

Markarie4464d ago

I, too, own and love my Vita, but to think that GTAV on Vita wouldn't be huge is a complete mistake. The Vita is not typically competing against the home consoles, but it is competing against the 3DS, iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. GTAV could easily be exclusive to the Vita as far as handhelds go and that would be a huge killer app for Sony. A full-fledged GTA with proper controls and graphics in the palm of your hand? I'd reserve mine yesterday.

Knight_Cid4464d ago

You are wrong. In reality, its competing against everything.

For example ninja gaiden 1 is not exclusive to vita, just because it isnt on the 3ds. Its on the ps3, and 360, that alone does it.

Hell even sony says the same thing. There biggest fear is the vita becoming a port machine.

That is the biggest reason why the 360 and ps3 basically split saleswise this gen to hit a numbers that arent that impressive, while the psp got a mostly exclusive library and sold like gangbusters

Yangus4464d ago

Agree.
Vita its $250 ps3 joystick?
LOL.

Vita needs exklusive games.(AAA)

SilentNegotiator4463d ago (Edited 4463d ago )

I think someone doesn't want the inevitably biggest game of the generation to be on the Vita, because it likely won't be on a certain other portable platform.

Don't pretend like you don't constantly NinTroll and crap on anything Playstation.

Elemental_4463d ago

so many sony fanboys ganging up. I feel bad for ya dude. Dont try to explain the logic of what actually is good for the system to them.

They cant hear you.

Shotcalm4464d ago

don't dumb down the playstation 3 version just to play it on some stupid hanheld.

SilentNegotiator4463d ago

Strong CPU, plenty of RAM, all of the controls it needs (Touch/Track can easily find workarounds to accommodate lack of L2/3, R2/3)....

Why would they have to? All I really picture needing to be different is that the Vita version would obviously need toned down graphics.

More interested in money than giving fans what they want. Such a shame

CrimsonWing6927d ago

With the amount of money they generated, I just don’t understand the scrubbing of this. It would’ve been fantastic for fans.

Profchaos27d ago

I really want to know who drove the decision to focus on multiplayer was it Rockstar or take two.

Because when online started taking off many of the studio leads began having falling outs and leading including a founder

Demetrius27d ago

Ikr mfs that greedy it's ridiculous

andy8527d ago

This makes me sad. Trevor was one of my favourite characters in gaming

Demetrius27d ago

One of the reason I believe once gta 6 release, most of us thoroughly play it, enjoy the world they crafted then after that no offline support, no dlc at all
