Enough patches to get it right. If it's more than a few to fix the problems out the gate, then yes, the game was released with too many bugs.

Neko_Mega4918d ago

True, plus with Fallout New Vegas. If anyone even could tell, almost each update remove a part of the game.

New Vegas they remove the little girl that chase after the rat and later the black kid. Yet nothing made the game really run much better.

mynameisEvil4918d ago

What in God's name are you talking about? The only thing they took out (that may or may not have even been there) were any bodyguards that were at the Freeside entrance near Mick and Ralph's.

I THINK I remember seeing them on the Xbox, then I stopped playing the game until June of 2011 where they weren't there, so whether or not this is a fake memory or not, I can't be certain. Everything else has been kept in.

NukaCola4918d ago

When talking about Bethesda games a lot of people rag on New Vegas a lot, but I have it on PS3 and as it is now post patch, it's still the most solid game I have played from Bethesda. I have literally no bugs or freezing, a few bits of slowdowns but overall it's fixed.

Skyrim on PS3 so far isn't doing bad at all. Nothing really killing my game, no freezing either (But to be fair my save fil is under 5mb so maybe I am not up there enough yet.

Dark_Overlord4917d ago

@NukaCola

Bethesda didn't make New Vegas, it was Obsidian

Disagree all you like but last gen this was barely an issue. Patches are used as a crutch to be lazy nowadays.

Ducky4918d ago

... but last-gen, devs didn't really have the luxury of patches anyways.

Games were also smaller, so there was less room for error. Glitches still existed though.

Sharingan_no_Kakashi4918d ago

Which is my point exactly. The second they got the "luxury of patches" they used it as a reason to be less thorough in quality assurance.

Tanir4918d ago

bethsdeda is such a lazy company of devs, never finishing their game until a year later. thats why i wait for the GOTY edition and is why i still dont have skyrim, even tho i really wanna play it.

h311rais3r4918d ago

I wouldn't call it lazy but rather ignorant. A game this large needs a lot more testing than it gets. A lot of the glitches none of my friends have seen or me. It just happens to some an when it does. Bye bye skyrim lol. They need many testers to test everything.

Zha1tan4918d ago

Its clear you have never programmed anything in your life.

Thousands of lines of code possibly even millions.....yes because a few strands clash or dont become compatible, yes utter laziness....

MS could compress their games on disc

raWfodog41d ago (Edited 41d ago )

Skyrim is still my favorite ES game. I’m playing through it again right now since I never finished it.

jznrpg31d ago

Morrowind is by far my favorite. But I’m getting old and played Daggerfall Morrowind and Oblivion before Skyrim

ActualWhiteMan41d ago

Yeah totally. Definitely won’t be hacking it Nintendo 🤞🏻

Give us FO3 with all the dlc remastered like ESO. Load times faster, quality of life improvements, gun play improvements

I believe it shouldn't just be graphical they should make improvements where they can to make the game better. A simple face lift isn't what's needed

ZeekQuattro62d ago

Still my favorite one. I remember getting a digital copy of FO3 when I got FO4(XBO). It was nice to finally play a stable version of the game. Then when I got a Series S it was an even better expierence. Quick resume and FPS boost made it feel like a whole new game. Updated gunplay would be very welcome though. One of the few things FO4 did better.

Fallout and Skyrim show us that talented developers make great games when you leave them alone

That judicious lack of oversight permeated everything in Bethesda's RPGs, in a positive fashion.

I much prefer a left alone Obsidian and Larian Studios. Bethesda's formula has grown old for me.

anast68d ago

Larian hit another level with DOS:2 and then took it even further with BG3. They do high quality work.

jznrpg69d ago (Edited 69d ago )

Skyrim was a letdown compared to previous games and so was Fallout 4

Kosic68d ago

I agree, I found it an interesting game. But nowhere near worth the hype (unless you include mods)

dmonee69d ago

Skyrim blew my mind when it released. That game took me to the gaming, promisedland. Going back to it when it was updated for the PS5, it felt slightly rough around the edges, but great for its time

TheColbertinator69d ago

We should leave Obsidian alone. Bethesda on the other hand should be kept under constant psychiatric observation.

anast68d ago

Skyrim feels like the game was made in a hurry with a disorganized team.
