IGN - Silent Hill: Downpour is probably not the Silent Hill game you're expecting, maybe even hoping for. Many of the calling cards from previous Silent Hill games, including a score by Akira Yamaoka, heavy exploration elements, and even much of the town itself won't be appearing in the game. Instead, it will focus on combat and puzzles, new previously unexplored areas of the town, and a new mechanic involving rain (hence the name, Downpour). However, after playing the recent build, I can say that this is the most engaging time I've had with a Silent Hill game in years
A breakdown of the best Silent Hill Characters that inspired and frightened gamers.
The sirens are sounding again, beckoning you back to the foggy ghost town as we rank all the Silent Hill games, from the chilling classics to the misguided missteps.
I mostly disagree with Downpour's position. Yeah, the game is not amazing by any stretch of the imagination but is much better than the HD Collection and Homecoming. The main issue is the performance, but that was mitigated by the patches, especially on the PS3. Personally, I put it a little behind Origins and The Room.
Having Restless Dreams as a different entry from Silent Hill 2 is also a choice.
silent hill 2 is definitely the best one out of those.
for me personally, the whole ritual/cult stuff was always so weird to me in all the other games.
No disrespect but I put SH2 over 1. 1 is fantastic, but 2 took it all up a level.
The Ghetto Gamer has been predicting and tracking PS3 prices over the past year. The last few months have seen a massive spike in the pricing of PS3 games, and it may be too late to pick up some of the more rare and hard-to-find ones at a reasonable price. Some of these are nuts.
Again, seen this coming from the start, glad I already bought everything I wanted over the years 👌
Stil remember selling ps3 titles to buy a PS4. but i keept the ones i liked more. Did the same with the titles of the PS4 to get a PS5.
From the preview :"To be sure, Silent Hill: Downpour is a marked departure from the rest of the series. The game feels more action-oriented than previous Silent Hill games, and a bit more linear. You were a bit freer to explore the town and check out your surroundings in other games in the franchise, but Downpour goes a more cinematic route, moving you from set piece to set piece quickly"
<sigh> I give up. Konami? Go back and play Silent Hill 1,2 and even 3 just so you remember why they were so good! Seems it's yet another Silent Hill I'm gonna pass on. Maybe Sony could develop another Forbidden Siren to scare the crap outta me as the genre 'survival' horror seems to be going down the toilet at the moment.
The horror genre sucked so much this gen its not funny!!
