How PlayStation Plus Saved Skyrim

GR: I'm well over 100 hours in - so many hours logged that I've lost track. I wouldn't consider myself a trophy or achievement whore, but I've ditched any and all quests in Skyrim aside from my one true quest: Get the platinum trophy. With the sheer size and scope of the game and the fact that most people consider the PS3 version to be broken, the feat of unlocking that shiny trophy seems all the more spectacular to me. And in this case, the quest for platinum has only increased my enjoyment of Skyrim, never hindering it.

And I came this close.

Umm Cloud saves arent that great, they are free on Steam. I sure as hell wouldnt pay for that feature.

I personally have a autoback up setting on my PC, backs up all my save files without me even knowning. I got save files back up from years ago, i dont even know if i will ever use em.

Well i have a free virtual drive linked to my PC too, has about 2gigs of memory. I could configure the PC to save all my game saves onto that drive, so i can access those files from any PC. Seriously people only want to satify themselves that what they are paying for is actually value, when realy the same thing can be had for free.

yea that was a big selling point for me, I normally copy saves and save it on my PC but the copyright ones always bugged me as I couldn't get it. Now with the automatic uploading of saves you don't even need to actively remember to upload them...more of this stuff and Plus will be even more enticing.

I've had situations where I need to backup my save files in order to transfer them from one PS3 to another. Some developers usually make a shitty move by making these save files copy protected.

Your only option is to do a backup using the utility, provided you have an external HDD formatted correctly. Otherwise, the most fuss free way that you can use is through PS plus.

Same here. Somehow got a corrupted save and a mission glitched late game. Fortunately, my PS3 saves all recently played games overnight so I just had to load previous saves from the cloud.

Tbh, the main reason I got Plus was because of the Cloud save feature.

Fortunatly its on the 360 now aswell, although I am annoyed I can't back up my Gears 3 and Halo 3 saves on there...

Not really, it was a legit question. I get the game is on the other platforms. This article has NOTHING to do with those other platforms and specifically is talking/dealing with the PS3 version and PSN+. The fact that I looked was a joke? Really?

How about the fact that I looked means I looked beyond the title of the article and used my eyes and actually read it and understood it has nada to do with the other versions. Its right there, not terribly difficult to see what an article is linked to on N4G btw. Fanboy? I was half way into my third playthrough of Demons Souls when my PS3 YLOD'd. Was a worrying week when i read you can't just move hard drives to get lost save data, thankfully my save had gone to the cloud without me even thinking about it.

Not got the Demon Soul's plat yet but not long now. I owe my life to PS+ now lol.

Good for you Jammy. Unfortunately for me, my 60G YLOD'd on me back in February.....the Cloud feature debuted in March if I'm not mistaken. Not to mention, I lost hours upon hours of Demons Souls and Mass Effect 2 saves. Suffice to say, like tigertron mentioned above, Cloud was the lone feature that sold me over on PSN+.

There r 16 artifacts and u need 15. It is true that u can screw up 3 of them and not get the artifact so maybe he messed up more than 1. But, he didn't mention losing his saves, so i don't understand why he couldn't just use the hdd, unless he has only 1 save. What RPG fan only has one save, especially in a game this buggy. I'm glad the cloud worked but this seems strange. And yeah there are a few quests that allow u to one artifact or another but not both.

The only thing I hate is that in order to get the achievement, u have to be bad. It shoulda been for completing the quests.

Usb flash stick works as well as cloud storage, even better since you have potentially more space, and you have the save games, not Sony, and no network is required.

Hello, I live under a rock. With Skyrim and a 240hrz 55 bravia. A friend came by and slipped a copy of the 360 version to me to check out...

Needless to say I was getting scan lines all day in certain areas of skyrim and it didnt seem as polished...

Ive came back to society to find that most people are under the assumption that "blu-ray" does not look better than standard and scan lines are in...

Does Skyrim on PS3 have copy-protect game save file? If not, why the need to pay for PS+ for the Cloud Storage? I'm not against PS+ but if Cloud Storage is that useful, the tiny 150MB is simply not enough to store all my game saves.

Back to my original question. If Skyrim on PS3 game save file isn't copy protected, isn't it a lot cheaper to plug in an USB flash stick and far larger storage capacity for less money?

As for Skyrim being buggy, even backup copy of game save saved his game progress, it's showing the game is shipped with serious bug that gamers are just happy to pay for the game and then hope they can complete it. What kind of product quality control is this?

Yeah, I just keep USB flash stick for backups, works great. And atleast I can trust that I have the backups, not cloud service, since Sony haven't screwed up before with theyr stuff.. Plus is not needed.

Heh, clever title. Glad that that gamer got lucky.

On the topic tought, cloud saving is good feature, my PS3's HDD has failed once already, tought luckily nothing important was lost.

Now I just keep usb-stick storage in the PS3, and make backups there evry couple days, so it really isn't necessary to pay for that alone. I still don't think it justifies the price of Plus, since it's almost useless beside the cloud saving.
