Touch Arcade: When Call of Duty: Zombies hit the iOS app store way back when we praised it for what was, at the time, a great adaptation of the console secondary game mode. Now, over two years later, the zombies have finally returned with Call of Duty: Black Ops Zombies [$6.99], the first true sequel to iOS CoD Zombies (strange psuedo-sequel notwithstanding). While Black Ops Zombies does succeed in providing improved visuals and extra variety in the addition of the excellent Dead-Ops mode, a frustrating selection of controls, spotty multiplayer, and a very limited map selection on the onset may make some fans hesitant to purchase now.
With Jason Blundell departed from Treyarch, I understand the prospects of the Zombies mode reaching it's former glory are quite slim. To some this signals the end of an era, to others: a new beginning .
TTP:" A few Call of Duty series spin off titles have been released in the past on the App Store, offering gameplay experiences that are slightly different from the main entries of the series. Among them was Call of Duty Black Ops Zombies, which brought the series' popular Zombie mode to iOS devices. Unfortunately it's been a while since players have been able to enjoy the game on their iOS devices, as Call of Duty Black Ops Zombies wasn't compatible with the latest iOS 8 versions. Today the game has finally received a new update which makes it playable on devices using the latest iOS version."
Chris Buffa (Modojo): 2012 was an excellent year for iOS and Android, with a variety of outstanding games debuting on a weekly basis. Since the smartphone and tablet markets advance at such a rapid pace, 2013 should easily surpass the last 12 months. That said, we dug the cracked crystal ball from the attic, dusted that sucker off and peered into its mystifying depths to deliver these predictions for the New Year.
