Top 5 Daedric Artifacts in Skyrim (and the 3 lamest)

VGW: Adventurers have been hunting for the fabled Daedric artifacts in Elder Scrolls games since, well, Daggerfall. The artifacts have undergone some tweaks over the years — for better and worse — but one thing is certain: they are the ultimate ES status symbol. There is nothing as satisfying in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim as displaying your trophies throughout your home. My Solitude house has an entire Daedric room where I entertain guests over sniffers of Courvoisier.

But the real question for new players may be: what artifacts are most worthwhile to hunt down?

nice list! been rockin' the Molag Bal mace since pretty early on and haven't looked back, even smithed it up. I've noticed that i can kill stuff outside of 3 seconds and still soul trap, maybe a glitch i dunno, but i'm not complaining lol

Basjohn4959d ago

Naaah not a glitch. The X second timer for Soul Trap applies on EACH HIT of the weapon so even a 1 second weapon is more than good enough if you only hit the enemy with it.

Dunpeal4959d ago (Edited 4959d ago )

oh ok that makes more sense, but then that leads me to question the need for 10 second trap weapons.

it made sense for the timer to start on the first hit if you're relying on something to die within 10 seconds, but the weapon was not acting that way and instead the way you described.

just weird to have a 10 second death time if it's going off each hit. oh well

The Molag Bal mace does kick ass. I haven't found anything worthy of replacing it yet, although that time shall surely come. Maybe, I'm not sure yet.

EDIT:'just weird to have a 10 second death time if it's going off each hit. oh well '

It does need recharging quite a bit though, that's the trade off, you have to keep it topped up a lot.

It soul traps on every swing, so as long as you kill whatever it is you're hitting with that weapon or something else within 3 seconds of you're last swing it will still soul trap.

Sorry, meant to reply to dunpeal.

Dunpeal4958d ago

@ Kramun

I honestly haven't compared it to other enchanted weapons to notice the difference in charging, but i'll take your word for it as I do have to charge it frequently. of course, I don't mind it and soul gems are plentiful.

on a side note, i randomly equipped a normal mace and I laughed at how crappy it looks compared to the Bal mace. that creapy face smashing down on enemies is beastly lol

herukuti4958d ago

why is the spellbreaker not up there as top five? it is the best/strongest defensive item in the game and probably is a little overpowered. plus you can smith it up in armor rating.

Wabbajack is the lamest? BUT IT'S WABBAJACK! YEAH! WABBAJACK! IT DOES WHAT EVER YOU WANT IT TOO!

MS could compress their games on disc

raWfodog42d ago (Edited 42d ago )

Skyrim is still my favorite ES game. I’m playing through it again right now since I never finished it.

jznrpg32d ago

Morrowind is by far my favorite. But I’m getting old and played Daggerfall Morrowind and Oblivion before Skyrim

ActualWhiteMan42d ago

Yeah totally. Definitely won’t be hacking it Nintendo 🤞🏻

Fallout and Skyrim show us that talented developers make great games when you leave them alone

That judicious lack of oversight permeated everything in Bethesda's RPGs, in a positive fashion.

Christopher71d ago

I much prefer a left alone Obsidian and Larian Studios. Bethesda's formula has grown old for me.

anast70d ago

Larian hit another level with DOS:2 and then took it even further with BG3. They do high quality work.

jznrpg70d ago (Edited 70d ago )

Skyrim was a letdown compared to previous games and so was Fallout 4

Kosic70d ago

I agree, I found it an interesting game. But nowhere near worth the hype (unless you include mods)

dmonee70d ago

Skyrim blew my mind when it released. That game took me to the gaming, promisedland. Going back to it when it was updated for the PS5, it felt slightly rough around the edges, but great for its time

TheColbertinator70d ago

We should leave Obsidian alone. Bethesda on the other hand should be kept under constant psychiatric observation.

anast70d ago

Skyrim feels like the game was made in a hurry with a disorganized team.
