Does the PS3 version of Skyrim also have texture streaming issues?

LOT: "Bethesda informed gamers on Friday that the Xbox 360 version of Skyrim was indeed suffering from texture streaming issues when installed on the HDD. Now it seems the same texture streaming issue may be present in the PS3 version."

Yeah its not just an Xbox thing. I've actually heard all three version have some sort of an issue with texture streaming.

The game is freaking incredible regardless.

kramun4541d ago

I've not noticed it on pc.

Kamikaze1354541d ago

Me either. This guy must be trippin'

limewax4541d ago

Well its pretty evident on PC, trees, buildings, distant land and even clouds all seem to have an issue, and it appears to be less likely to stick on PC, normally the texture will repair itself fairly fast. The only time I have seen it stick was in a cave, snow covered stone didn't load all the texture layers in one spot

It's still a great game and runs well on any system(unless you're picky).

PS3 has A LOT of frame rate issues. The game is still great, But it's the last game from Bethesda I am buying for console.

SignifiedSix4538d ago

Works great on the 360 lol. Watched my friend play it and it was fine.
Developers are just too lazy now days.
Thank god i got the PC version :)

Parasyte4541d ago

I've been having texture streaming issues on PS3 as well. It took the game 5-10 seconds to load in a large patch of grass.

DonaldBeck4541d ago

sucks for you, ive never had that problem, and i put 20 hours in so far

eak34541d ago

ive got some 20 hrs in also and havent noticed any problems like that. <knock on wood> I havent had a single game freeze either.

ShoryukenII4541d ago

The only problem that I've noticed is when I'm really high up near Riverwood and have a great view of Whiterun, I can't see the trees closer to Whiterun. There is a hairline where there are no more trees. When I run closer, they start appearing. I know it isn't a glitch but it bothers me.

limewax4541d ago

If your on console, that's kind of because that's as much as the console can do, If you are playing on PC then try editing the line fGrassMinFadeDistance in the .ini and changing the value to around 400.0000, for some reason any tree other than the main type you see everywhere is counted under grass. You could probably push the value higher but that's as far as I have tested it so far

ShoryukenII4541d ago (Edited 4541d ago )

I'm on console. Y-Y

Christopher4541d ago

Only issue I've had is the pause when opening the inventory/skills menu. One time it was about 10 seconds. Only happens when it autosaves when opening the menu, though.

Parasyte4540d ago

Funny, since I made this post, I haven't had any issues. I guess the game knew I was talking bad about it. :)

No.

Just kidding. :(

ASTAROTH4541d ago

A game full of glitches as reported and lots of problems in the graphics dept (yet an amazing game I admit), is getting all these high scores and its considered the stongest contender for GOTY... wow. Portal 2 or Batman for me.

I'm Replaying Skyrim (again), and So Should You

Replaying Skyrim after 13 years is a reminder of the progress made in western RPGs over the last decade, but also what's been lost.

anast14d ago

I tried, but it's a poorly made game that insults its customers.

lucian22914d ago

nah, only mods make it decent, and even then it's bad, and this is after i modded for at least 3 years

Nittdarko14d ago

Funnily enough, I'm about to play it for the first time in VR with 1000 mods to make the game playable, as is the Bethesda way

"I started playing games yesterday" the List... Meh!

How about a few RPGs that deserve some love instead?
1 - Alpha Protocol - Now on GOG
2 - else Heart.Break()
3 - Shadowrun Trilogy
4 - Wasteland 2
5 - UnderRail
6 - Tyranny
7 - Torment: Tides of Numenera

And for a bonus game that flew under the radar:
8 - Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave14d ago (Edited 14d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.
