This game looks so freaking good lol. For the ppl complaining about the melee, i think its miles better than what oblivion or fallout 3/NV did. And yes this is the first 20 min of the game, i'm sure when we start unlocking cool new abilities like all the dif sword slashes and shield bashes it will just add to it. I do like the executions too lol. Either way I play ES games to explore a huge believable world not to nit pick about dumb little things.

Dang it, the gameplay still look very flat, I was hoping for something really visceral but this looks only a slight nudge better than ES: IV's gameplay, which just doesn't hold up. I don't care how big the world or how many voice actors they have when the core gameplay isn't visceral.

Correction, 30 hours of gameplay + 20 hours for every guild (at least 4= 80 hours)+ 50 hours of random quests + 50 hours of dungeon delving (excuse the WOW term) = 210 hours of gameplay, and 90 hours of travel
Travel = 50 hours of running + 40 hours of walking

Now if we assume that one plays Skyrim for a mere 5 hours a day (every day), it would take them roughly 2 months to complete 300 hours.

Now if we divide those 2 months by the amount of walking time (60/40), we find that of those 5 hours, the player will walk approximately 1.5 of those 5 hours a day.... Not a bad ratio if you ask me... especially when you have Skyrim's awesome scenery to look at....

@Aeon above:I just know that reviewers have it since yesterday. Though I have to tell you, not all media outlets have a HD video capture card to capture footage from the 360 :D

Edit: @Aeon again Not all writers are paid, and many of those that work on a volunteer unpaid basis still get review product from publishers :D

A black magic intensity pro doesn't just require the capture card itself, but also a pretty beefy rig to suppor it (and a BIG hard disk, multiple in RAID actually if you want to capture uncompressed footage). I know quite a few gaming writers that don't even have a decent gaming PC,let alone one that can support a black magic and do some decent capture with it.

Well, look at those textures and that horrid combat with a lack of flinching or any feedback from enemies! Not to mention the axe-swinging animation that makes the weapon disappear for half a second and the awful writing, alongside the handholding dialogue...

exaggerated but true...skyrim is so over rated right now from fanboys its unbelievable. I have played a 20 minute demo on a 360 and though it is amazingly large two things disappointed me.
1. the jaggies....theres a lot of them especially when there are tress but Im guessing this has been adressed mostly.

2. The hit detection...thi has not been adressed mele combat looks good but at the core it not strategic and is simply button smashing.

You want good graphics, play it on a decent gaming PC, and if you're still not satisfied, wait for some mods. Oblivion on PC with mods looks much better than Skyrim on consoles.

You purchased a budget gaming machine because you were too cheap/lazy to buy/build a decent gaming rig. Therefore, you shouldn't be upset if the console version of a game doesn't stack up to the PC version of the game. If the console is 6 or more years old, you shouldn't complain that the graphics aren't adequate.

A person who purchases a console is simply doing so to play games, not to play technically groundbreaking games.

Do not complain about graphical/technical shortcomings for a console game.

And yes, you're right. This game was built with consoles in mind, and frankly, I haven't seen half as many PC gamers on forums complaining about this fact - probably because they know that they will have mod tools to alter the PC version to their taste.

People who purchase consoles are not entitled to complain about anything because they're budget gamers. Their has to be a drawback to that fact and in the case of consoles it's graphical quality.

Hold on Kaveti, "console owners are budget gamers". The same console gamers who spend money on a system, then £30-40 per game they buy, and if they pay for XBL, then another £30-40 to play online a year.

How can console gamers be budget gamers, when yeah sure, you pay £800 to build a great PC, but then you pay half the price console gamers do for your games, piracy is RAMPANT on PC more so than any other platform and to top it off, you got PC gamers circle jerking over Steam deals where they sell about 7 games for £3. I'm not digging PC gamers, but considering all of those factors, you can't call console gamers budget gamers when they clearly spend more on gaming in the long run than PC gamers on average. The price of console games alone is evidence enough.

OT: I've decided not to get Skyrim day one as I've got BF3, Dark Souls, Arkham City and Uncharted 3 to finish, plus Disgaea 4, Sonic Generations, Skyward Sword, Super Mario 3D Land, Mario Kart 7 and more coming over the next couple of months. Want to dedicate as much time to Skyrim as possible.

Is PC the lead platform because lol I heard that the leaked version is only what, 6.6GB Uncompressed. For a game thats supposedly as detailed as Skyrim, how can it only be that big? Especially when the 360 version is supposedly about 4.5GB. Some cuts must have had to be made. Judging from all the PR I've seen since the announcement, it seems as if the 360 is the lead platform here, not the PC.

One of the things I wish, is that games like this would take a bit more of a, I know alot of people are going to misunderstand this, realistic approach to CERTAIN things. I know I know its fantasy and all that... but...an example might illustrate better.

A giant scaled dragon being able to be taken down with arrows...

...its like shooting a .40 calibre hand gun at a Bulldozer and watching it get dented and damaged and then finally explode.

I can understand your bulldozer vs. gun argument but it's simply not the same thing as arrows vs. dragons. Dragons are suppose to have flesh and blood, thus with enough arrows you could make it bleed out technically.

We saw what...3 mins of combat footage? The player was no doubt still learning the mechanics and he is only level one. No skills, no perks, and he didnt use any magic. Didn't even read the spell tome he picked up. Clearly can't judge combat on this player's gameplay.

And what AI was there to be crappy? Enemies were dying nearly instantly because I'm sure he wasn't on a hard difficulty and it was a fucking prologue!

first of all this does not do the game justice as far as visuals and fighting. this video is really compressed and the person barely knew what he was doing. the only real problem i saw was the stopping when it autosaved. i hope that doesn't happen on PS3 version, but really that is just a minor problem.

Dont judge the game on this video.
It's fucking small, bad quality and probably the lowest graphic resolution and details you can play on.
Some of the animations of course looked a bit weird and combat, well, we have to see.
Just remember all the amazing screenshots. THIS is what it looks like. I liked the prologue and if that wasnt all impressing to you remember this is not actually the strenght of Elder Scrolls that this all looks epic, it's the rpg-part. And in that, I can garantee, Bethesda wont disappoint us.

Also look at the landscapes, dungeons and cities/villages weve seen so far. That looks way better than Oblivion.
I loved the game, but really the landscape and dungeons didnt look very interesting. And of course the wheather. It looks great, in one scene of a video there was this sky full of clouds and the sky was also red and it just looked amazing and dark.
