Bethesda:Dont Like Skyrim Controls? Change Them

The first detail that VP of PR and Marketing at Bethesda, Pete Hines has revealed on his Twitter account that the official soundtrack of the game would serve fans with 4 discs.
“The OST would take 4 CDs.” he said in response to a fan asking about the number of songs in the OST.
It also has been detailed that all buttons of the title’s controller can be remapped.

Same as Fallout was. I always change the Triangle from Jump to Action, and X from Action to Jump. I don't know why you have to reach so far up on a controller to jump. X(A on 360) should always be this. I love that you can custom your entire layout on these games.

One thing Bioshock bothered me with was making X action and Triangle as jump as it feels unatural. Traingle is out of the way which makes a great Action button. Just a peeve I got, like forcing me to use R2/L2 as the shooter buttons on PS3.

rabidpancakeburglar4997d ago

That just sounds really awkward to me but that's because I never changed the control scheme in fallout so I was used to using triangle to jump and x for action.

It's pretty sad, this should be standard in EVERY SINGLE GAME, i remember playing final fantasy 7 on my PSX many years ago and it had button remapping options.

It's a feature that has been so frequently overlooked and for what? it's not hard to implement and it stops people complaining about games having "shit controls" (anyone remember the killzone 2 b1tching?).

Anyway good on them for including this and shame on all developers who don't.

"(anyone remember the killzone 2 b1tching?)."

Well the control 'layout' of KZ2 had absolutely nothing to do with that b1tching, but that doesn't matter now.

And seriously, every game should have customizable controls, I don't understand why developers have to be so lazy when it comes to this issue. I absolutely hated using R2 and L2 in games like GTA4 and Red Dead (though in Red Deads defense, they later patched it when Undead Nightmare came out to support L1 and R1 instead of the r2/l2 crap).

Lucreto4997d ago

So the OST is 4 discs.

It should be included on the CE for the price they are charging. If Square Enix can so it for the FF XIII-2 CE Bethesda can do it too.

eak34996d ago

agree whole-heartedly. The Elder Scroll soundtracks have always been gorgeous, this most definitely should have been added to the bloated 150 dollar CE.

NoobJobz4997d ago

Good. I don't know why games don't always allow to remap the buttons. Some games have really bad layouts. Like the first poster said the bottom button is always jump for me. Anywhere else is awkward.

MasterD9194996d ago

You are 100% right...It should be a standard for every game.

It would only benefit these games further by conforming to our play styles.

My Madcatz Tourmament Fight Stick is ready for SKYRIM

Pintheshadows4996d ago

I have great respect for developers that allow this.

Mr Tretton4996d ago

I find it quite stupid that the vast majority of console games still force a control scheme(s) on you. Glad I'm getting my new PC tomorrow, which is how I will be playing this game anyway.

Pintheshadows4996d ago

Absolutely, especially since some control systems are horrific. KZ would have benefitted from this. The schemes available never felt natural. And enjoy your new PC Jack.

MS could compress their games on disc

raWfodog40d ago (Edited 40d ago )

Skyrim is still my favorite ES game. I’m playing through it again right now since I never finished it.

jznrpg30d ago

Morrowind is by far my favorite. But I’m getting old and played Daggerfall Morrowind and Oblivion before Skyrim

ActualWhiteMan40d ago

Yeah totally. Definitely won’t be hacking it Nintendo 🤞🏻

Fallout and Skyrim show us that talented developers make great games when you leave them alone

That judicious lack of oversight permeated everything in Bethesda's RPGs, in a positive fashion.

Christopher69d ago

I much prefer a left alone Obsidian and Larian Studios. Bethesda's formula has grown old for me.

anast68d ago

Larian hit another level with DOS:2 and then took it even further with BG3. They do high quality work.

Skyrim was a letdown compared to previous games and so was Fallout 4

Kosic68d ago

I agree, I found it an interesting game. But nowhere near worth the hype (unless you include mods)

dmonee68d ago

Skyrim blew my mind when it released. That game took me to the gaming, promisedland. Going back to it when it was updated for the PS5, it felt slightly rough around the edges, but great for its time

TheColbertinator68d ago

We should leave Obsidian alone. Bethesda on the other hand should be kept under constant psychiatric observation.

anast68d ago

Skyrim feels like the game was made in a hurry with a disorganized team.

At this point, if you still don't have these games, just wtf are you even doing?
