God of War: Origins Collection Review | Dualshock Nexus

Dualshock Nexus: Alright ladies and gentleman. Gods and goddesses. Minotaurs and harpies. It's time to get into our God of War: Origins Collection review! This is going to be a pretty special review for two reasons. One reason is the fact that I've already played God of War: Chains of Olympus years ago and I just recently completed God of War: Ghost of Sparta for the first time. I think it will be a nice change of pace to compare old thoughts and new thoughts all in one review. Another reason this review is special is the fact that this is a collection, so I get to review more than one game!

I've put a lot of time into both of these games over the last few days and I'm fairly confident I can provide you, the reader, with an honest review. It's time to decide whether this collection stands up to the might of the Olympians, or falls deep into the depths of Hades on a silver platter.

Me Likes!

That's my review!

How's that for short and sweet?

Good stuff the only thing ive found really annoying with the title is that for some reason i cant play for more than half hour playing it gives me terrible headaches, even tried turning the brightness down on the tv. Only thing i can think of is the slight motion blur effect they have added to soften the rough edges, either way your review is spot on

Wow really? I have no problem playing the game in normal HD, but like most 3D games I own I can't play for a prolonged period of time or I get severe headaches like you mentioned, but that's with just about every 3D game I play.

Ranking the God of War Games

Kratos has been on a rampage, killing Gods in epic battles since 2005. With each release managing to offer high-octane action, I explore each God of War title and rank every adventure from his journey to Olympus to his Norse tales of fatherhood.

I won’t rank Ragnarok just yet, although it is honestly leaving me and my wife blown away…won’t go into details right now, not done as I assume others aren’t either, maybe some of you are, idk haha.

But here’s how I rank them

5. God of War 3
4. God of War Ascension.
3. God of War 1.
2. God of War 2.
1. God of War 2018.

My same ranking exactly, with Ragnarök at #1.

ClayRules2012893d ago

Wow, that’s pretty interesting that someone has the same ranking as me haha. So, did you beat Ragnarok? I assume so with you placing it at #1

1. God of war 3
2. God of war 2018
3. God of war 2
4. God of war 1

Haven't played the others but about 30 hrs In to ragnarock now so safe to say if it keeps up it will end up being at the top of my list when I'm done.

I will say the pacing of the original titles and the epic feel to them I feel is way better than the new one’s. Like, I could recognize and appreciate the praise God of War received, but it bores me to tears except for the pivotal moments.

However, that being said I feel Ragnarok is waaaaay better than 2018. I’m only on Ch. 6, but it’s pretty much rocked my face off from the get-go.

I’m really split between this being my GotY or Elden Ring.

I think different games in the series had different strengths but all are great. I liked the original as it was an origin story and the mechanics were fresh. The sequel added smoother gameplay. Three was just so far ahead of it's time graphically it wasn't even funny. Plus great gameplay and bosses and insane gore and nice use of sexy time. The reboot was cool but lost a lot of what I liked about the original trilogy (I don't need my games grown up, just fun). Will wait and see with ragnarok as haven't had time to play it yet.

5 HD Video Game Collections You Need To Play

MenStuff: "Remastered re-releases of classic old games (or some games that aren’t even that old) seem to be the flavour of the week in the gaming world, but while many may roll their eyes at the obvious cash-in opportunity for publishers, there are some incredible collections that give players who missed out on a franchise’s early entries, or those who played them a shot of reinvigorated nostalgia, for a great price."

These are all great. The amount of effort in God of War: Origins Collection is crazy, check out the article on it:

http://blog.us.playstation....

And if we were to add a single HD remaster of a game, Ōkami HD deserves a mention. It's a technical marvel, with the in-house resolution being 4k and then downsampled to 1080p for use on the PS3. Article about it here:

It's a beast. Definitely a labor of love, and after having already got the platinum for it, I replayed through it again after reading this article due to added appreciation for it
