Resistance 3 PlayStation Move Sharp Shooter First Impressions (vividgamer.com)

Eric of VividGamer.com:

"Resistance 3 released this week, and along with the regular retail version, Sony released a Doomsday edition which comes with the PlayStation Move Sharp Shooter. The PlayStation Move Sharp Shooter is kind of like a gun shell, where you place the PS Move and Navigation controller in the shell and it turns into a rifle of sorts. It’s built well, and most games make full use of the peripheral. So how does the Sharp Shooter work with Resistance 3? Not as good as I would have liked."

Not a big surprise, but still a little bit of a disappointment.

Drekken4982d ago

It works great besides the down the iron controls which I am sure will be patched. Shooting from the hip is very accurate.

himdeel4982d ago

Haven't watched the video yet but the Sharpshooter works great but down the iron sights is broken and moves incredibly slow. Like Drekken said I'm sure it will be patched. Either way I've found the third game that I'll be using my Sharpshooter on a regular basis.

Drekken4982d ago

What are the others? I like it with KZ3 and Modern Combat: Domination.

himdeel4982d ago

Killzone 3, Socom 4, and R3 for me. I have Modern Combat but it's so far down my backlog of games I'll have to give it a go with the Sharpshooter.

TheLiztress4982d ago

Well, they've seem to have done better with utilizing the PlayStation Move than I would have thought. Not knocking Insomniac or anything.

Ares844982d ago

I got the sharpshooter and tried it for Killzone 3. Well I'm not a fan. I do play some move games with friends and family but nothing serious. It's just to have a good time for a little bit. Move and the sharpshooter are just add-ons, and not really good for serious gaming. I'm not into that motion control thing anyways that much, I don't like it. It's good to monkey around with it a little bit but I prefer traditional controls.

nix4982d ago

just picked it up. am gonna use the Move nevertheles.. ((:

KingSlayer4982d ago

Plan on playing this with Move, just not the Sharpshooter. Personal preference, but I'd rather use Move/Nav.

Resistance 3 is a Classic, 13 Years On

Insomniac Games' thunderous conclusion to its acclaimed first-person shooter series remains an under-appreciated work of art.

Sony needs to remake the trilogy on ps5

CrimsonWing69169d ago

I’d rather them do a new game in the world of Resistance.

Cacabunga169d ago (Edited 169d ago )

I honestly liked the first one most..
killzone 2 and 3 outshined Resistance 2 and 3 for me in every aspect.

Eonjay169d ago

I absolutely adored Resistance 3 but they do not NEED to remake this game. They should do something that they enjoy and if it is Resistance then so be it.

Mr_cheese169d ago

Loved resistance 3, played the whole thing on co op with the move controller and gun, was very different!

Resistance 2 online was the best

gamerz169d ago

Me too, but also on a 3D tv! R3 was one of the few games that got plastic rifle panning motion right.

isarai169d ago

Such a criminally underrated series, id love a remaster collection of the trilogy.

preciousdeath169d ago

Yes! ...and make them PSVR2 compatible.

Pedrof169d ago

Not a classic in my opinion ; a pretty mediocre PS3 shooter as far as I'm concerned, not bad, not the worst of the trilogy, but certainly not great. Killzone 2 was miles ahead of it (and of most FPSs even today as far as I'm concerned).

pwnmaster3000169d ago

Naw man.
Resistance 1 will always be GOATed for me.
I remember playing all night on multiplayer. Such a fun game.

P_Bomb169d ago

Ah yeah, R1! I cut my teeth on the one-shot Walmart map, lol! Miss that.

gamerz169d ago

Played that demo soooooo many damn times since it was the only thing to play for a while at launch. That and motorstorm.

refocusedman169d ago

killzone was amazing but resistance was great as well. althpugh theybwrre both fps, I think that served different purposes.

JEECE169d ago

Thanks for turning Insomniac into a Marvel studio.

ApocalypseShadow169d ago (Edited 169d ago )

Although I agree on original games and creativity over licensed IP, especially something like Ghost of Tsushima. But Sony's looking at that series selling less and less overall with the 3rd estimated to not even sell 2 million. Gamers who say they loved it didn't really buy it.

While Spiderman the series has sold over 50 million not counting PC. And Spider-Man 2 is over 11 million so far. If you had their business and had to make their decisions, what would you do in their shoes?

JEECE169d ago

@ApocalypseShadow

Umm, that's exactly my point lol. Insomniac made great, original IP games and people didn't buy them because they were too busy lapping up yearly CODs and Assassin's Creeds, so naturally Sony/Insomniac had to pivot to something else.

Knushwood Butt169d ago

So you are saying 1 was the worst?
I respect your opinion but strongly disagree.

I'll start with what I didn't like about 3:
- OK, Nathan Hale is gone but new player character totally forgettable. Can't even remember their name.
- Awful forced in 3D. Just look at KZ3 for 3D done well.
- Online multiplayer that paled in comparison to 1 and 2. Put hundreds of hours into the first two. Probably less than 10 hours into 3.
- Campaign was OK but I played the other two more, especially 1.

Pedrof168d ago

1 had my favorite gunplay of the trilogy (no need for COD iron sight) so I guess my worst would be 2. At least 3 wrapped up the storyline, supported the move controller and had prettier graphics. But in my book, none of the three really stood out. From that era, I prefered Singularity for example and obviously Killzone 2.

I wish they'd bring back the Resistance 2 multiplayer. God that co-op was so much fun.

Resistance 3 is such a great game. One of my all time bests.

cooperdnizzle1036d ago

Couldn’t agree more. Still love It as a shooter to this day.

Just something about that game. I really wish they would just do a remaster, don’t even need a remake just bring it up to todays out put, touch up a few things if any, and I am there to buy it day one.

Of course I would love a remake built from the ground up. As long as they treated it like Shadow of the Colossus, or close to those type of remake. Wouldn’t want it to get the RE treatment…. Just because the game is already paced so perfect and hits all the right beats that I wouldn’t touch that aspect.

My take:

Single player
3, 2, 1

Multiplayer
3, 1, 2

Overall
3, 2, 1

I beat the lengthy single player in 1 multiple times and spent hours in the online too. Plus 1 featured my home town! Special mention to the audio design in 1: playing that with surround headphones blew me away.

Note: I have the platinum for Resistance 2.

Eidolon1092d ago

Resistance 1 MP will always be my favorite. Call it nostalgia or whatever, but that was my jam, felt more balance, natural.

Miraak82 1092d ago

i have the platinium too , 10k kills in online ranked matches was no joke . Took me 3-4 months straight grinding but it was fun . To put it in perspective you only got like 25 kills per match if you were 1st place every match that's at Least 400 matches in 1st

Sciurus_vulgaris1094d ago

I only played the 3 main Resistance titles. My ranking would be;
1. Resistance 3
2. Resistance: Fall of Man
3. Resistance 2

GoodGuy091094d ago

Man I loved 3's campaign. Another gem stuck on the ps3 and who knows if insomniac will go back to the franchise.

fr0sty1092d ago

Resistance, Warhawk, MAG, Motorstorm, there's so many first party gems on PS3 that Sony has just left to die...

P_Bomb1093d ago

Never played Burning Skies but I still have Retribution.

monkey6021093d ago

Burning Skies was about 3 hours long and rather inconsequential. You haven't missed anything

porkChop1093d ago

Honestly, Burning Skies was shit. There's no two ways about it. At first I thought it looked terrible, then I second guessed myself. Big mistake.

darthv721092d ago

Retribution has this really cool feature where you could use a PS3 to link a controller to it and play. So if you had a 2000 or 3000 hooked to a tv, you can use a real controller. All of this predates the PSP Go's ability to sync a sixaxis to it via bluetooth.

Yui_Suzumiya1093d ago

Resistance 3 was shocking and brilliant. Loved it.
