DHGF: I’m not really sure what to make of God of War Origins Collections. On one hand it is nice to see some more games get a HD treatment and the price tag of $39.99 for two games is quite nice – especially when you realize that’s how much each of these games cost for the PSP when they first came out. On the other hand, this is a great reminder of how crappy Sony has treated the PSP over the past few years and I feel for the gamers that already own both of these for the system. I know some God of War fans will pick this collection up without thinking about it, but all that means is that Sony gets your money TWICE and it’s just less games one feels they NEED to own for the PSP. I suppose it’s all moot with the Vita (horrible name) coming out in a few months.
Kratos has been on a rampage, killing Gods in epic battles since 2005. With each release managing to offer high-octane action, I explore each God of War title and rank every adventure from his journey to Olympus to his Norse tales of fatherhood.
I won’t rank Ragnarok just yet, although it is honestly leaving me and my wife blown away…won’t go into details right now, not done as I assume others aren’t either, maybe some of you are, idk haha.
But here’s how I rank them
5. God of War 3
4. God of War Ascension.
3. God of War 1.
2. God of War 2.
1. God of War 2018.
1. God of war 3
2. God of war 2018
3. God of war 2
4. God of war 1
Haven't played the others but about 30 hrs In to ragnarock now so safe to say if it keeps up it will end up being at the top of my list when I'm done.
I will say the pacing of the original titles and the epic feel to them I feel is way better than the new one’s. Like, I could recognize and appreciate the praise God of War received, but it bores me to tears except for the pivotal moments.
However, that being said I feel Ragnarok is waaaaay better than 2018. I’m only on Ch. 6, but it’s pretty much rocked my face off from the get-go.
I’m really split between this being my GotY or Elden Ring.
I think different games in the series had different strengths but all are great. I liked the original as it was an origin story and the mechanics were fresh. The sequel added smoother gameplay. Three was just so far ahead of it's time graphically it wasn't even funny. Plus great gameplay and bosses and insane gore and nice use of sexy time. The reboot was cool but lost a lot of what I liked about the original trilogy (I don't need my games grown up, just fun). Will wait and see with ragnarok as haven't had time to play it yet.
No diminishing violence or rage in the God of War's first pocket sized adventure.
MenStuff: "Remastered re-releases of classic old games (or some games that aren’t even that old) seem to be the flavour of the week in the gaming world, but while many may roll their eyes at the obvious cash-in opportunity for publishers, there are some incredible collections that give players who missed out on a franchise’s early entries, or those who played them a shot of reinvigorated nostalgia, for a great price."
These are all great. The amount of effort in God of War: Origins Collection is crazy, check out the article on it:

And if we were to add a single HD remaster of a game, Ōkami HD deserves a mention. It's a technical marvel, with the in-house resolution being 4k and then downsampled to 1080p for use on the PS3. Article about it here:

It's a beast. Definitely a labor of love, and after having already got the platinum for it, I replayed through it again after reading this article due to added appreciation for it
God of war to this date is, all time best in both series and sales. Men lie, Women lie, Number Don't
I have both games on my psp, which i never paid for either so I may still pick this up just to have on my ps3. Both games are pretty short and can be beat in like a day or 2 if you don't die that much.
Pretty stupid complaints if you ask me. And if you don't really see a difference between the PSP and PS3 versions, there's something wrong with you.
