Are Battlefield 3 Devs using PS3 Fanboy propaganda to hype up and promote BF3 against MW3?

Battlefield 3 devs are using ps3 and ps3 fanboy propaganda to hype BF3, using them to go after COD without getting their hands dirty at the same time catering to ps3 fanboy insecurities insuring sales on PS3.
Read ahead for some substantial evidence regarding the moves made by EA and Dice till date which supports the aforementioned conclusion.

This is true. EA and Sony have a sort of relationship right now and EA developers tend to focus a little more on the PS3 versions.

That said, it still didn't stop the 360 versions of games like Dead Space, Crysis 2, Mirror's Edge, or Medal of Honor from being identical to the PS3 versions.

I think Battlefield 3 will look about the same on both consoles, with each version having a few small advantages over the other, just like we saw in Battlefield Bad Company 2. In my experience the 360 version had less screen tearing and a better frame rate, but the PS3 version had superior foliage (alpha to coverage). Overall, though, I remember them being pretty similar. BF3 will probably be much the same way.

you're forgetting that one of the big features when Frostbite 2.0 was released was that it was said that it was optimized to fully use the Cell processor (no fanboy talk here, that's what has been said). So i'm assuming that it'll look better on ps3, but then again it'll look AMAZING on the pc.

they were just further illustrating that the new engine is being fully optimized for existing hardware, even though it has the horses to do a lot more on more powerful future hardware...

there is nothing wrong with that...and its too early to tell what will happen with the console versions in a sense of pitting them against each other...but its very clear that the the PS3 isn't getting a simple port of the engine from the PC/360 (which never works well)...and it will be getting a version of it that will work well with the differences of the PS3's architecture...

You might well be right, however, bringing up BC2 just doesn't do Dice justice. BF3/Frostbite2 is a total departure from previous versions. That said, whatever BC2 has no impact how BF3 will look, since Dice basically rewrote the the render backend - for each platform (!) - from scratch.

I like that EA/Dice have the balls to give a shit about platform parity and tries to push each platform. We'll see how that ends, but at least someone takes the risk here. Much appreciated.

Don't see the point if having different consoles/hardware if devs can't or don't play to each ones strengths, I understand that if there was a huge difference between platforms, there wouldn't be much profit in the lesser version, but .. Not so much "fan base", but support from platform holders. So far, MS was quite ahead and used that power to threaten developers. PS3 is closing in, and MS's power is shrinking. I think we'll see that more in the future to push each platform a bit. Man, I am wait for this for years now. I hope its not just a pipedream, though.

Fans will get it for the console they have, or the which they prefer. And, well, which version looks better if you can choose. EA can care less, they'll get the money anyway.

This is how they're going to try and win against COD by using PS3 fans to hype their game and attack COD. Most PCs cant, GTA4 on PC is more-or-less a direct port of the 360 version with the optimisations for the 360 still in place (which have an opposite effect on PC game performance).

I didn't read this article but here's my two cents on what the title says:

If I were EA, going after PS3 users makes a lot of sense. When it comes to COD, PS3 owners have always gotten the shaft. COD on the PS3 always seems like it must have been an afterthought for the devs because not only does it tend to be visually inferior but the amount of bugs seems to be double or triple whats on the Xbox along with the fact that most DLC releases come out first on xbox and everyone else has to wait.

I'll agree with most that BF3 most likely won't sell as many total copies as MW3, but if they play their cards right they could very well steal COD's PS3 users and out sell COD on the PS3. It will be interesting to see what happens. I know I'm one of the ones BF3 is stealing from COD.

As for this article, it's very true. This console generation has seen the most vocal fanboys ever, mostly just PS3 fanboys, they were the ones who feel the most insecure and need to latch onto things like "best graphics" and "free online" because they don't have anything else.

So a company starts their advertising by throwing them a bone, too bad like every other shooter Battlefield 3 is pacing almost 2/1 in pre-orders in favor of the Xbox 360 version.

I personally wont be buying Battlefield 3, mostly because I don't ever trust EA or anything they say. Dice said they were having issues with the Xbox 360 version of the game, were a month and a half away from release and we should have been able to see some kind of footage. We even see PS3 COD footage before it's release, so obviously Dice/EA are afraid of something.

If my game was getting pre orders like BF3 on the Xbox 360 and there was actually something wrong, I'd not disclose it this close either.

Black Ops definitely ruined Call of Duty on the PS3. I bought an XBox 360 exclusively for all future Call of Duty games. I used to play it on PS3, but Treyarch sucks so much at programming, they couldn't get the PS3 version to run anywhere near as good as the 360 version. I felt like I was crapped on, so I bought an XBox 360... so I guess Treyarch and Microsoft wins... I'm not proud about it, but I'm the consumer and I wanted the best experience and the PS3 version of Black Ops sucked (not that the 360 version was a good game but it at least runs really smoothly).

Also, I don't like Battlefield games. 30fps?... no thanks. Pretty graphics don't make a game good you know.

I play a lot more than Call of Duty. Like I said... Black Ops was just a terrible game no matter what system you play it on, but the PS3 is the worst way to experience the bad game.

I'll admit, Call of Duty is addicting to me. It's fun. I tried getting into Battlefield Bad Company 2 and it was really boring. Sorry, but I just don't like it. I doubt Battlefield 3 is going to be anything but pretty graphics.

I can pretty much be sure that I am going to like Modern Warfare 3, so that's the shooter I'm buying this year... along with Uncharted 3.

I couldn't help myself,so I pre-ordered MW3 the other day.I've enjoyed all COD games on my ps3. once I figured out how to get an open NAT,but anyways i took the cardboard pre-order thing to the counter and the the girl doesn't even ask me which system I wanted it for, she just says "Xbox 360 right?" Slacktivision is using an engine from 1999, (for real, id tech 3 from 1999 is what powers all call of duty games)
to bring mediocrity and 1024x600p resolutions (yes that is the native resolution of EVERY call of duty game on consoles) to the poor huddled masses.

At least BF3 will look good on ps3 and 360, the only place call of duty games look kinda good is on pc in 1080p or higher, it hides the imperfections a bit better....

BTW people, don't kid you're selves the Xbox version will look like the PS3 the SPU shaders won't be a a huge shift in the graphics spectrum only minor differences. only the fanboys "think otherwise."

Since when making compliments to the PS3 and actually writing an engine specifically towards its strong points makes you a fanboy?As long as I remember they never criticized the 360.They just said they could use the SPU's to leverage the GPU's work making possible for them get more out of the console compared to the 360.Funny thing is whenever a developer merely says he likes the PS3 he is a fanboy but when Carmack said he preferred the 360 for being easiest to use and having a better GPU(focusing more on that aspect when coding id Tech 5,not coding anything too specific to the Cell) is all alright.

About the discs issue:You know why developers b**** about multiple discs on the 360?Because of the absurd royalties MS charges over them.Instead of recognizing the developers efforts to keep the quality on multiple discs fanboys insult them...and when devs choose not to pay fanboys insult them...
Honestly I'm never gonna be able to determine who are the worst fanboys...360's,PS3's or PC's...
