They need to embrace online more by using it in the games. Their current network is to the effect like the psn store. I use it simply to get software as opposed to actually gaming against others.

Once they figure that part out then they will have better luck with the new mario kart and possibly smash bros and other games.

As for PSN vs Live....like many have said. If you ONLY have one you gravitate to that platforms service. If you have both then the choice is personal preference. No one should hold you in ridicule if you prefer one over another. That is the beauty of "choice".

Well Live has better integration of many of it's features. But there's nothing there that I've seen that is worth paying for. But I couldn't care less about the social aspects, I just want to play. If that sort of thing is important to you then the cost may be worth it.

But this article is probably the most lame comparison of the two I've ever seen.

Free is good but xbl blows psn away. Better community, better features, more media exc. The games are far better on xbla just this month we got bastion, from dust, itsp, fruit ninja, and toy soldiers cold war. Theres a much bigger and better library. I use psn all the time and own many good games but xbl is far better. If the question was which is a better deal psn but they asked which is better.

Anybody who's play any of the God of Wars and the Halos would know that Master Chief doesnt even stand a chance against Kratos. Kratos is unstoppable, he beats gods and giants! He has the strength of a Hercules, He Man, Hulk type and is practically unkillable. Kratos is beyond vicious. Kratos doesnt need guns, he'll rip you apart with his bare hands.

But to address the actual subject its just as pointless as it always is. If you only have one console which service is better is moot because you only have access to one. If you have both consoles then you're going to go with the one you want to weather that means paying for XBL while ignoring PSN to no real effect, or going with PSN saving $5 a month (or whatever XBL costs) knowing that services will be excluded. If you are already paying for XBL you're certainly not going to get PSN+.

I have to agree with you on this one. I have both ps3 and 360 but i use the 360 services more than what the ps3 offers. I tend to buy exclusives on the ps3 and dont go onine much with it and also use the ps3 for playtv where my 360 i use it for exclusive and none exclusive games. Play on xbox live alot have skyplayer zune pass as i have a windows phone 7 and zune pass is one of the best things ms offer. I also have a home server and tend to use my 360 for streaming the movies rather than the ps3 ms my 360 is quiter than my ps3. But my boss has both consoles and he has psn+ uses his ps3 for bluray streeming from his home server and vidzone. Where he plays offline on his 360 and just playes exclusives on it where he playes both on his ps3 as well as using it for playtv.

To me that shows that none of the consoles are the best but they both offer us different things in different ways.

As a live user, Ive never once had lag, and about every reviewer tots how great live service is (i can respect that not every wants to pay for it), but sorry bro gotta call a foul on its full of lag.

as much as i think live is the superior service hands down...i have to admit that getting on MK on psn is pretty darn simple. as much as MK has had its problems in the past, these days the online is pretty normal. everything moves pretty fast. but whne i got on xbl with it, there was SO much lag. not as much in the matches themselves as there was in the menus online. god its fucking awful..every time you exited a player match, it takes like 15 seconds for the menu to pop up. it only takes about 5 on psn.

many matches on live still had the desync going on. i know that MK is NOT Representative of the overall quality of live, but just know that i was very surprised to see that psns online was actually vastly superior in its performance.

on the other hand, playing on live in the first day was the first time i had seen someone using a mic, EVER.

If anyone has played COD for PSN then they know what lag is.

Speaking of which, Black Ops is about the only game for PSN that I have seen lag and that isn't PSN's fault I don't believe.

To a certain point I agree, but if we are going to be paying for a service, I shouldn't lag if the host has bad internet. I believe good connection should be shared all over. You get what you pay for.

lag is determent by:
1. your internet speed
2. everyone's else internet speed
3. the game (P2P or dedicated)

so saying xbox live has more lag then PSN is false, and vise versa xbox owners...

It all depends on the fans, pretty much. i play the ps3 so i have a psn and is a great service for what i see but my brother is a xbl person and he likes xbl better. so it really depends on the individual.

Gamesharing is the shit on PSN. Only Warhawk and Socom Confrontation can't be played by non-purchasing accounts. It's like receiving 4 gifts on every piece of DLC bought. I got every mappack for KZ3 & COD and never paid a dime for them.

LIVE is worth paying for. At the moment, PSN should be free. You get a lot of features for the money. With the next Playstation, I am sure we will see more features and you will have to pay a monthly fee. Sony is already working toward this model. Just my thoughts.

What they seem interested in doing, is getting more vendors to their service, like different stores, and having them sell products and services....kinda like their answer to apples store...sorta.

Sony seems to have much bigger aspirations than just video games on your PS3.

For that, they need and want as many people on their network as possible.

Also, VITA's online is free too.

So I doubt PS4's PSN will charge a mandatory fee to play.

I favor Live 60% to PSN 40%

PSN is not fluid enough, not social enough and missing some really key yet simple features, and PSN + is no where close to being worth it yet.

Lets face it being online is about being social - SONY seems to be running a year or so behind, that was evident on the leap Xbox took in the previous Gen, not to mention MS is a software company, they have a better understanding and infrastructure to what it takes than SONY who's primary focus is hardware.

Xbox Live, was built to game, built to be social and it simply works, period.

Lot's of games on PSN with more than 40 players, Resistance 2 had 60, while MAG has 256 players..
DC Univers Online says from 2 to unlimited in the cover, I guess there is a cap, but dunno what it is, it looked pretty high during the beta on the massive battles against the supervillains.

I doub't that there is a max limit of 16 players on 360 aswell, even tough I don't know of any.

And it's not like stuff like Youtube, Netflix, etc. wich gave XBox Live the victory in this article isn't available on PS3.

I prefer PSN, I like the DRM being more forgiving. Though XBLA has been getting some great exclusive titles. XBLA titles are like... the only thing I can think of that Xbox 360 has going for it.
