Metal Gear Solid HD Collection includes Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake

Hideo Kojima has confirmed that Metal Gear Solid HD Collection will also include Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. He also detailed the differences between the Japanese and western versions in addition to revealing which version of Metal Gear Solid 2 is being used for the high-definition remastered port.

Konami's president said they do want to remake MGS1 but not just a hd remake but a total remake and re do it right so hoping for that

Only problem with MGS1 downloadable is that you get to the part where you need the codec and they say it's on the back of the CD case... but you have no CD case!

Almost as frustrating as the first time, when I kept looking through the menu for the CD case and searching the whole Shadow Moses for the damn CD case!

I just tried everyone till I got it, there was only 200 choices for codec channels.

@Da Truth Actually all of the digital downloads have all that information built into them. If you push the Home button you can swap from disc 1 to disc 2, and read the game manual from front to back along with several other options. They do a really great job with their PS1 classics.

Alright touchy, just double checking. We already know that the substienence version of MGS3 doesn't include MGO, so by that logic other things might be omitted. And any word if doubt if it includes the 3rd Existence disk of the cutscenes as a movie? (I own the pal edition, I think the NTSC release differs slightly but I'm not sure how?)

Finally I get a chance to play MGS2. I'm ashamed to admit that I never played MGS2 even though I've played all others in series. As my defence I can say that MGS2 was just so hard to find and when I got my PS3, I just gave up, hoping for a release of HD colection. Uh, if there were any problems with the controls they would have fixed when it hit the store around 10 years after it released. I think the controls are perfect, so no. And it's not in the American release anyway. I already bought it from the store though as my 4th copy. Original , greatest hits, essential collection, and psn store ;)

When this game was announced Kojima said that the metal gear solid 3 subsistence(which includes more capture the monkey mission and the msx games: metal gear and metal gear 2- solid snake) version would be added, so this was no surprise to people like me that own the original ps2 metal gear solid 3 subsistence version. I am glad that kojima finally added the correct version of mgs3 to this collection and I hope people will enjoy the extra games because they are fun.

Since this is a multi-platform game It probably has something to do with previous agreements between nintendo and sony concerning the respective metal gear solid titles on why either of those titles have not been included in the previous mgs collection or in this collection as far as consoles go, because there is no other reason why they should not be included in this collection except for the reason that I previously stated.

Metal Gear and 2 were simply the original games back in the late 80's, they're connected to the rest of the games, Metal Gear Solid is because it became the first 3D Metal Gear in the series, yeah you can say they're different stories since the PS1 game takes place years after the original 2 versions, but in chronological order it goes like this:

MGS3
MGS Portable Ops
MGS Peace Walker
MG1
MG2 Solid Snake
MGS(PSX)
MGS2
MGSR( I included it because it's before MGS4 and it's not even out yet, but maybe it's connected to the story)
MGS4

I played through the whole thing lol, I can even write a book about it!!!!!

@ ChiVoLok0 Not kidding dude, lol that's the order of how it goes story wise but its up to you, Portable Ops Plus is more like the "Substance" of the original Portable Ops, I think it doesn't have the story mode, just like extra missions, so I recommend the original game..

@ Drix, Not necessariry, there are people that likes doing it in chronological order so they can have a better understanding about the story, I played them each by year they released, but I already knew which one is older by story setting, but its up to you how you want to play them, you know!!!

Portable OPs plus is the same game, but there are additional online features, making the game more robust. It runs smoother, plays better and supports more online features than the original portable ops.

360 owners are in for a treat. 5 frikkin' games at once, and each worth playing all the way through. You get to see Big Boss as a hero & a villain all on one system. Great call to go with Subsistence and include the '80's games.

And yeah, if you play em all and like em you'll definitely wanna see how it all ends (and it does end) with MGS4. They did an amazing job wrapping up 20 years of game threads. *hint*, don't shut it off when the credits roll! ;)

Once again I believe I read somewhere that Kojima said if they were going to do the original MGS they would want to do it from the ground up and make it a truly new experience and not just your run-of-the-mill HD upgrade...

looks basically like it is running on a pc emulator, like I said I am still getting it, but look what pc modders have done with doom3, and gtaiv recently, those are just a few dedicated hobbiests and kojima and his billions of $$$ and team of hundreds only basically give us an emulation??

kinda sad, still buying though, I love Metal Gear almost as much as I love Elder scrolls, and that is quite a bit!
