Ico and Shadow of the Colossus Collection hands-on preview (Gamesradar)

Upscaling last-generation’s best games is a trend we can get behind, especially if they’re all handled with the love and care that went into the God of War and Sly Cooper HD collections. Sony’s latest expedition into the past has brought back Team Ico’s critically acclaimed PlayStation 2 games: Shadow of the Colossus and Ico, both of which could use a little cleaning up for the current generation.

Two classics.
I think that even if people don't like those games they will respect their universe, atmosphere, their originality, especially if they really know video games it's obvious that the proposition in those two games is really strong and is made by a great game designer.

It's great that so many of these recent HD remakes get the steroscopic 3D treatment as well. Even better as they don't suffer the same performance issues or visual trade-offs most of the regular 3D PS3 games do because of the aging hardware.

I'm just about to start playing the just released Spliter Cell: Chaos Theory HD, I hope the 3D is worth enabling - it certainly was in Prince of Persia: Two Thrones.

So much for the PS3 having enough power to run remakes in 3D without trade-offs. I've started playing Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory and the framerate is decidedly shaky in 3D mode with frequent drops into what looks like the mid to low 20s fps.

How about that PS4? :)

I think it has less to do with hardware and more to do with the fact that Splinter Cell is not made by a first party studio, so the people that brought it to PS3 probably don't care if the 3D performs well.

It is a small market after all.

I am SO looking forward to this! Can't wait to play SotC in HD! Having said that, I hope they fixed the frame rate.

Technically Shadow of the Colossus is a PS2 remaster on PS3 but it is interesting seeing the progress made with emulation.

Splinter Cell Trilogy was excellent, as was the MGS HD collection. Stealth ftw!

I’d love to see a Ghost Recon/SOCOM/Rainbow Six collection as well, all great military franchises
