PSLS: I can’t believe I’m writing this. Duke Nukem Forever is finally upon us. The game needs no introduction, unless you have been living under a rock in the most remote desert of the least inhabited portion of the world. Work began on this game in 1996, shortly after the mega blockbuster that was Duke Nukem 3D. After going through development hell and the loss of original developer 3D Realms, can Duke Nukem Forever possibly live up to the hype?
Duke Nukem Forever originally began its life as a sidescroller instead of a shooter back in 1996, and that canceled version has just been leaked.
Very cool, but i don't know how real this is... I'll check it out later to find out.
Duke Nukem Forever, the troubled FPS from Gearbox and 3D Realms, has been restored to more traditional 90s shooter thanks to a sweeping “remaster” mod
kinda of a misleading title.
Mod features:
Sprinting removed and faster player movement
Jump height increased
Swim speed is much faster
Player can now hold breath underwater for 45 seconds instead of 15
Weapon rebalance and screen shake when shooting removed
2/4 weapon limit completelly removed
Quicksaves (F5 by default)
Depth of Field removed and new post processing effects
Driving sections are now in first person perspective
yw.
Duke Nukem Forever, the infamous and controversial FPS from 3D Realms, apparently looked much better before launch, as modders discover various cut features
Wow, that advanced lighting makes a huge difference to the visuals. I get that Gearbox tried to slap everything together and release a finished product. But it seems like they cut out a lot of content that would have made the experience more enjoyable. That's a shame.
That's better than a Zero out of 10.
I'm never going to bet on Duke again. Lost a lot of fucking money on this one.
You know what, fuck these reviews. I'm loving every second of Duke Nukem Forever.
It's Ego system - where you can partake in activities in the environment - is a blast. It allows players to partake in a ridiculous number of mini-games, something unheard of in FPS's.
It's longer than the average 3-5hrs it takes me to complete other titles in it's genre.
It's multiplayer is extremely simplistic, but it takes the replayability (ranking up, unlockables) that are in most shooters today, and couples it with fun micro-sized multiplayer battles reminiscent of those N64 days.
Forget that it's been in development for over a decade, and suspend your run-of-the-mill, saturated FPS expectations.
All Hail The King, Baby.
It's actually not a bad game, just very mediocre. Some levels need major re balancing though. And oh my dear God, some of the guns eat up too much ammo, and when you are playing on Insane, it doesn't help that the enemies soak up damage like a sponge!
Offtopic: Though Insane is a bit cheap, it's nothing compared to the cheapness in COD WAW (On Elite).
::::sigh:::: I'm gonna be really disappointed if I actually did play the best part of the game in the first half hour. And I wasn't even excited to begin with...
