PS3 i was expecting but 360....? I wasnt expecting that at all. Seeing as konami and MS never released the patch to make MGS2 substance work on the 360 I all but figured Rising was the only MG title the 360 would see.

Now the question is....will the original MGS be the PS version or the twin snakes edition? I'm hoping for the later.

Lost my day 1 buy without MGS1. Yea, I wanted Peace Walker also, but definitely not at the expense of MGS1 HD. Now I'll wait on it Used for ~$25.

The only way this can make sense is if MGS4: Substance or whatever has MGS1 HD included.. and that still doesn't make much sense.

It should have been MGS1-3, then Peace Walker either with Portable Ops or MGS4:S. Way to F up an awesome product IMO.

That said MGS was on Nintendo before even Playstation. MGS existed on Xbox in the previous generation so there is no real exclusivity there. It doesn't surprise me at all.

An HD remake of MGS1 would probably be the hardest, as it would pretty require entirely new assets from scratch...although MGS4 recreated major sections of MGS1 in incredible detail, so maybe alot of the assets and tech are already there (the procedural snow effects for example)...we've seen a lot of HD remakes of last generation games and it seemingly isn't very time consuming...especially considering its usually just upscaled and uses nearly all of the original assets...

Its time for some of you to grow up...so what if its coming to the 360?...this is handful of AWESOME PS2 games...the more people that get to play them the better...

I still own all of them though, so not sure if i'd buy this...one thing that is definitely going to ping the PS3 crowd is that this HD remake stuff will have to support trophies...yet, despite all but a promise; MGS4 never received them...I haven't played peace walker though, so it may be worth it just for that...

I think Sony knows just how much the Metal Gear brand means to the PlayStation name. I wouldn't be surprised if they did announce MGS5 as both a PS3/Vita title to put Vita & Transfarring on the map.

There's a small chance we could still hear something at E3. Though I think TGS would be a better venue to announce something like this. It would make a big impact on the Japanese community.

they will use the twin snakes edition of mgs because it is already running in an updated engine. Same for the xbox version of mgs2 because it was a better graphically than the ps2.

Transfarring, means you can take your games on the go with your psp or ngp. Then when you want to transfer your save file to continue on your ps3 you can.

I wouldn't worry about it. Whilst missing MGS1 and 4, 360 consumers will at least at the moment, get a very poor experience of the MGS series.

Missing the start, and conclusion, nothing in the games is really going to make any sense, the HD collection on 360 serves as an advert for the PS3 platform.

MGS2 was already on the XBOX...MGS3 wasnt and neither was peace walker obviously...So much for the exclusivity ! I for one was so stoked for a MGS HD collection, like really...SO STOKED ! For some reason, now that its been announced I feel somewhat dissapointed to a degree...if that makes any sense...Whether Hideo sold out for bringing the HD collections to 360, whether there is no MGS1 among the collection or whether 2 titles out of the 3 in the MGS pack will only contain trophies...(actually I dont know, PW might have trophy support) to whether they never announced a MGS4 trophy patch along with these announcements....I cant see why Im so bothered about it being on 360 cuz at the same time im actually not at all but i am. lol

I don't see whats wrong with the games being multiplatform. They've done their jobs. I have MGS2 and 3 on my PS2 still, and a launch copy of Peace Walker signed by Hideo himself tucked away in my room. The fact they're there, means they've served their purpose.

Now to make the brand expand, Kojima wants to put old games onto 360 and it's a problem? Grow up lol seriously. Sure I'm getting MGS HD Collection on PS3, but I'm glad others who don't own a PS3 or multiple console like me and many others, can enjoy 3 masterpieces.

Well if it makes anyone feel any better they are going to have one hell of a time fitting these games on the 360. Sound will be compressed DD crap at any rate as the 360 can not even process real audio. It's pretty obvious which version is going to be superior here. Sound was a big part in these games. LA Noire on 360 had bitrates for the environment and music lower than even the crappiest MP3's encoded with LAME.

umm, no it doesnt! cutting and pasting art from each game and pasting them side by side is the most banal use of metal gear solid art you can think of for a collectors edition. they should have used one image that embodies the series (maybe original artwork), to give it a classic look.

It plays close to the other games, but with shorter "levels" due to the Portable nature, also built with co-op in mind.

It's after Snake Eater and Portable Ops, but seems to mostly ignore Portable Ops.

I dont think too many ppl are true fans of kojima or mgs because their blinded by their fanboyism.
If you were,then you'd know that kojima doesnt like to compromise,he never has.MGS 4 was and is only on ps3,because whether you like it or not, it is the most powerful console of this generation and kojima didn't want disk swapping or for the game to be lacking in sound,visuals etc by being compressed.

im happy this is on 360 because,they can be opened up to a marvelous and rich series,and kojima wants that,he's not concerned with brand loyalty or fanboy wars.

Great announcement for me a MGS FAN! i loved Mgs 2: Substance and now i get to replay the great story! and i never got to play Snake eater because it was a PS2 Exclusive at the time it came out. And of course dont have a Psp for Peace Walker lol.

Well if you look at it, PS2 was the main console to own and the install base was there. 7.7 million units was impressive, Japan sold 700,000 plus alone in one week.

While the Xbox sold (of MGS 2)620,000 world wide, yeah it was a fail, but the install base wasn't there either.(Xbox debut in 2001).

But this time around the install base is about even for both consoles, Konami knows this and wants to cash in. Debuting MGS: Rising at microsoft's press conference at E32009, made xbox owners feel "special". I think it will sell well this time around.

It's truly a great time for 360 owners, Although I'd play MGS on ps3 before ever thinking about it for xbox, I recommend it strongly for anyone who hasn't tried them yet. Especially MGS3!

i played all MGS games on playstation but i sold my ps2
once this halo combat evolved game came out and i played it
and cryed once we had 16 player Lan partys
but now MGS is on 360 i will play them all again
never played peacewalker but heard it was good
i hope MGS1 comes out on 360
