With Kessler jumping around in what he perceives as one timeline he could very well be jumping through alternate versions of timelines that he is continuing to alter and affect by his meddling with time. I think its cannon that Cole's powers would have developed without Kesslers intervention but were sped up with Ray Sphere explosion in the first game.

While I think it's possible the John is The Beast I feel more confident that The Beast is Cole. What would've happened to Cole if he and not John got sucked into the raysphere? Likewise what would've happened if Cole held on to the raysphere and John didn't knock it away?

I think The Beast is Cole after getting the full power of the raysphere from the first game in an alternate timeline.

In InFamous 2, Cole is building an anti raysphere with Dr. Wolfe to drain the powers of the Beast to defeat him. If the Beast is Cole, then it would weaken both of them. Also, in the trailer, you can clearly see a GIGANTIC hand pick up one of the golden statues that are on the bridges in Empire City.

I agree with Himdeel in that Cole is the Beast I just think but since the game is all about moral choices i feel that it's an alternate timeline version like Kessler but one who made all of the evil choices. I'm this would have brought him down the path to gathering massive amounts of power and even more evil. I bet he collect all of the blast cores from the Ray Sphere and consumed all of it's power making him the Beast. I've been saying this since the first time we saw a pic of beast and noticed that he was bold just like Cole...

My theory is that the evil playthrough is actually canon and that cole's powers were evolved at a faster rate, and since he all-but-destroyed his empire city, he needed somewhere else to ravage, so he teleported to good cole's timeline, then he's the beast.

My theory goes like this: The whole of inFamous is not the story of a superhero, but the "possibility" of a superhero. The fact that the power of breaking time and space is apparent in his repratoire combined with how the public can see him as with ever twitch he does shows the many facets of Cole's destiny. I believe the beast is the ultimate breaking point for Cole, and the radical point of his self discovery. Truly a point far beyond Kessler.

If the Beast is cole, that wouldn't be much of a twist would it? I mean Cole is the obvious choice for who the Beast should be, which is what I hope Sucker Punch wants us to think. I mean the Beast was bald and had red power like evil Cole. I am pretty sure Cole is the Number one suspect, but when was the last time you saw a mystery and enjoyed the fact that the number 1 suspect was the killer all along?

I was thinking that to, but i doubt it.
The beast existed in Kessler time. Basically he wasn't a hero nor a Villian during that time since he was to scared to do anything. I don't think it would be another Cole, even if say Evil Cole traveled back in time to become the beast.

Then again a bunch of people got powers when the ray sphere went off and the way i see it,it would have to be someone working close to the raysphere. Which i still think John did during kessler time.

John prob. was inside the raysphere project during Kessler and Cole time. Which explains how they knew Cole since Kessler was looking for him and John passed the info off.

It's true the Beast was in Kesslers time but you forget. It said he suddenly appeared. It's like what I said when I compared Dr. Manhattan to the Beast and John. He might have been trying to pull himself together. Also remember the Timeline was attired, the Beast appears years sooner then expected as Infamous 2 has suggested.

Kessler exists in Cole's time, so this is not a reason why the Beast couldn't be Cole!

It stands to reason if Kessler can move through timelines, then so could any powerful evil Cole!

John is also very possible, since they were attempting to train John to move things with his mind while he was an inside man in the organization! Just seems like Kessler would know and destroy John before this could happen!

This could be the "self fulfilling prophesy", like in Terminator, when the Terminator going back in time creates Skynet; yet, how does a Terminator that lead to the creation of Skynet get sent back in time by Skynet! Kessler's actions in Infamous 1 could be responsible for creating the Beast(John) that he originally went back to try and stop!

I doubt they would *SPOILERS* do a retread of inFAMOUS' biggest reveal. I'd personally feel kind of cheated and let down if the Beast turned out to be Cole.

The fact that Kessler was Cole from the future (and an almost alternate timeline, technically), was awesome.

The Beast being Cole would feel like old hat.

Besides, Cole is ALREADY wrestling with his dark and light natures; that's the underlying theme of the inFAMOUS series.

The Beast is the representation of an unstoppable evil. Cole WILL prevail over it, it's what makes great heroes great.

I just don't think it'd be narratively compelling to have him become the Beast.

John being the Beast has been my theory since I beat inFAMOUS in 2009. I don't think he was destroyed by the Ray Sphere, and was instead transported elsewhere. His last thoughts before being ripped through reality is Cole McGrath. He doesn't even remember what happened, just Cole's face, and anger and rage.

When he is reconstituted, he is consumed by one goal: Destroy the person that "destroyed" him. If Cole hadn't destroyed/activated the Ray Sphere, John wouldn't have become the Beast.

I like the idea of making the Beast this tortured soul, and maybe the resolution of the conflict will result in a moral choice for Cole: destroy the Beast in the final battle, and gain his strength, or help John regain his lost humanity, and redeem the Beast. Then maybe we can get some fricking co-op in inFAMOUS 3. Cole and the Beast, teamed up to kick some even DEADLIER villain's ass. lol.

I agree, having Cole be the beast would be a retread of the first game and would not be compelling. Adding to Figboy's point: We know what will happen to cole if he chooses evil.. He will become Kessler, let us not for get Kessler did destroy a few city blocks with that explosion, he could have had cole set the ray shpere in the Sticks if he wanted. Also dude killed his own wife.

I don't think kessler is evil, I think his appearance makes him more neutral/good - he done these things for cole so it could make him stronger, in kesslers time line Trish dies later than the first infamous to be quite honest nothing will seem clear until we all complete infamous 2 that will make things alot clearer

@Sock- Do really think killing your wife, and killing hundreds of people is the best way to make someone stronger.. I mean he could have said "I am you from the future and I am here to make you more powerful and train you." "If you marry Trish, she will die".. There are better ways of preparing people than killing their loved ones and innocent people.

Actually the ray sphere doesn't choose per say who gets powers and who doesn't. In inFAMOUS 1, one of the dead drop satellites has Kessler explain that only humans who are conduits can receive power from the ray sphere, this is why the ray sphere didn't work when Zeke tried to use it, he's not a conduit.

Hmmm Thinking about it if the Ray Sphere only opens for conduits, that explains why it pulsed for John. Reading this articles suggest that John himself was an conduit in training.

thats what i believed at first, when john white got sucked into the vortex created by the destruction of the ray sphere there were rumors that john was still alive or that he got sucked into another dimension receiving enormous amounts of power from the ray sphere creating the beast itself. i soon realized it would be more believable if cole were to be the beast or if maybe cole from another dimension seeing how the beast's scars reminded me of coles evil form. hmm...you know what, i'm not sure at all, maybe the beast is an alien from another world or something hell if know :P

The beast could just be the power of the rayshpere running wild. I once watched an Outer Limits episode about psychics who used their power to kill people and it cumulated into a malicious force.The beast could be the personification of the destructive power of the sphere. I wonder if it could really be Cole seeing both Kessler and Cole have come face to face with it but never mentioned that it was a version of Cole. Unless he changed so much he is unrecognizable.

Man...I used to think I was one of the very few in the world who believed John could be the Beast. People who played inFamous to full completion would realise that John White was a highly developed character who received a very anti-climatic demise. There is no way that such a developed character could receive such a cheap ending.

Me and some of my friends came up with a very similar theory to yours. I believed John White becoming the Beast could almost serve as a retelling of how Jon Osterman became Dr Manhattan. It would be an awesome story element and would add a very powerful emotional element to inFamous 2.

If the Beast turns out to be some sort of alternate Cole, I'll be seriously pissed. It'll be way too similar to the ending of inFamous 1.

I'm pretty sure that the parts where John was being beaten and forced to try and stop Kessler with his mind was just Kessler's way of trying to get John to prove that he had powers. I mean, he probably only got into the First Sons because he lied and said that he was a conduit. If Kessler beat John and told him to use his mind to make him stop, my guess is that he just wanted to prove that John was lying about his 'powers'. But, the shit about John getting engulfed by the Ray Sphere and becoming the Beast does seem likely.

I thought the beast was john white after I initially completed infamous. Then I started to think that path may be a little too obvious. My theory is that the beast is actually zeke who gains his powers during infamous 2 and goes back in time to stop cole from gaining power since he has in depth knowledge of his plans. thats why the beast comes earlier than expected. Zeke always hated being ordinary and he ultimately starts to loathe cole, so what begins as a way of displaying his new found powers he begins to lust for more power thus creating the beast.

I said this from the beginning. John was vaporized by the sphere. He somehow manged to survive and has become extremely powerful and holds a big grudge against Cole.

john white is the beast, apparently the beast in kesslers timeline was suppose to be someone else but when kessler went back in time to coles timeline, a man named john white interfered as he became an undercover agent finding about the first sons, kessler and even cole...you see this wasn't suppose to happen, when john got sucked into the ray sphere john became an empty shell devoid of emotions or even personality. he was filled with rage after being left in that vortex for what felt like a century. he soon was filled with hatred, against cole, the world (apparently the game tells you about john's harsh past), kessler and everybody in general.
