Will the PSN outage cause a rise in PSN card purchases?

Gamers Outlook "Will the scare mongering and exaggeration which caused many to go to their banks and demand new cards, cause these same PS3 owners to now rely solely on PSN Cards to purchase their games from the Playstation Network? have your say"

Hopefully, I understand why people use their credit cards as they always have the money available for a game they want but I've always used psn cards because I could only imagine someone getting hold of my account and using mine

Joni-Ice4792d ago

I think PSN cards will increase. But thats a good thing right?

rabidpancakeburglar4792d ago

Yeah, it might even prompt them to release ones with more variety in price

NewMonday4792d ago

I only use PSN and Live points cards just in case something like this happens, better safe than sorry.

Joni-Ice4792d ago

@ Newmonday....So I guess this is the first time you will be using PSN cards because this is the first time this happened.

Does it matters if sales rise for the cards?... either way sony's getting the $$$.

badz1494792d ago

only if it's fvcking available everywhere! there's no PSN cards here where I live but we do have PSN. so what am I gonna do? don't buy stuff I want? I have to use cc and unfortunately still do for the foreseeable time. :-(

Solidus187-SCMilk4792d ago (Edited 4792d ago )

Im also doing the same thing on LIVE. This whole situation has reminded me that its smart to save my credit card info in as few places as possible.

only problem now is that you cant get the exact amount of money you need with the cards like you can with you CC info stored.

But I actually like having extra money/points on there. Then I might buy some sweet stuff that I normally wouldn't.

Hopefully. I hate paying 20 bucks on a PSN card even though I only want a 15 dollar game.

yep, def the option i'll take from now on

Trey_4_life4791d ago

I'm going to carry on using my debit card, im from the UK and our banks are advising us not to worry and not to ask for replacement cards over this situation, they seem pretty confident that if such things did take place they would be easy to trace the culprits.

So yeah for now i'm quite relaxed about it, as relaxed as my bank is!

ilikestuff4792d ago

i believe the saying theres no such thing as a stupid question, but c'mon.

saladthieves4791d ago

I've already said this. Once the PSN is back up and running, these PSN cards will be rare to find.

More retailers should offer Instant PSN codes like shopto.net do. It's cheaper and quicker.

DontShoot-Me-Bro4792d ago (Edited 4792d ago )

Yeah i know right, well for us here in the UK, PSN cards are better because they are cheaper then what your actually spending.

£20 cards are around £17

£50 cards are around £44

rabidpancakeburglar4792d ago

WTF where are you buying them? they cost the full amount for me

DontShoot-Me-Bro4792d ago (Edited 4792d ago )

@ rabidpancakeburglar

it seems Sony are not doing £20 cards anymore, instead they are doing £25 and £35, here are the links, they are trustworthy site, and i buy all my gaming stuff from them.

£25 card for only £19.99

Here is a £25 card for £22.85

and £35 for £32.86

another site.

£25 for £21.99

Also lots of sites have 10% off voucher codes sometimes, so you can even get more off.

joydestroy4792d ago

wow. wish it was like that here in the US

M-Easy4792d ago

I started buying cards a while ago. Not because of security but because I bought them from Best Buy which I got reward points from for buying them there. Win win :)

madcowz644792d ago

One things for sure I will be buying them more.

DWOM4792d ago (Edited 4792d ago )

I'll be honest here... probably yes... :)
