Controversial Homefront scenes 'not in there for shock factor'

Homefront developer Kaos Studios has told GamerZines that the controversial scenes included in the game were not simply put in there for "shock factor" but to "represent occupied America", saying that removing them would have been "shying away" from the team's objective.

WTF - Blasphemy....Why is he burning my precious American flag.

I can see that this game will get no support from the USA Army. I for one will be buying this game day one because it shows the real ugly side of war and not the GI Joe COD cr@p.

jriquelme_paraguay5223d ago

im not "American" im South American...
this game is targeted to Americans and XBox...

not buying.... i think i will not care or feel the story

Blad3star5223d ago (Edited 5223d ago )

Can you imagine if they made that picture of the man holding the burning USA flag the box art for the Arab country's - game would sell millions.

Before you disagree - I am American and it was a joke people.

distorted_reality5223d ago

I think you can probably add the majority of the rest of the world too :P

Izanagi-no-Okami5223d ago

I'm liking the emotional factor in this game. A thing that we don't see many often in FPS.

Blad3star5223d ago

I agree - War is not fun and innocent people / kids are dieing as I am typing this message.

Call of Duty portrays war as a heroic and fun thing which then encourages teens to join the army but HF shows that not all war have happy story's and ending and that all games should not be about Americans killing Russians or Japanese but Americans soldiers can also be killed and some times are not always right for going to war.

Cenobia5223d ago

I don't know if you know more about this game than I do, but I am pretty sure the ending is going to be a triumphant victory for the US.

The game is going to be about outnumbered and outgunned US civilians killing Koreans. I'm not entirely sure how you expect this game will be different from COD, except for its somewhat unique story and setting.

This is essentially Red Dawn in video game form, and I highly doubt they'll end it with the US being taken over by kim jong il. That would be a kind of awesome direction to take, but I think they'll go a more traditional route. Even if they're setting up a sequel the game will end on a triumphant battle (on a bridge from the screenshots I've seen).

Garrison5223d ago

I wouldn't find a scene like that so controversial at all, it's the reality of war. Of course I would reserve any judgment until actually viewing the scene. But that more or less is the reality of war.

I hate when easily-offended people try to censor meaningful experiences

UP5223d ago

I am ok with this as long as they do not demonize America like seems popular today for some reason.

FunAndGun5223d ago

maybe because there is some truth behind it?

I am American btw.

LiL T5223d ago (Edited 5223d ago )

Yes but its ok for america to demonize muslims and the arab culture right. Hypocrisy much?
I could expand on my statemet but last time I told the truth about the states It was reported as offensive by some butthurt tards that have no clue whats going om in the world let alone thier own country.
No I dont hate good Americans (half my fam lives there) I just hate ignorance and that goes for every culture. Hell the seikhs out here (Brampton) hate me cause I hate the fact that you cant speak english in a english speaking country.
