Examiner: It’s best to be honest with Two Worlds II right out of the gate: it’s not a good game. With that being said, it doesn’t mean that it’s a game worth ignoring.
Topware Interactive will deliver the final piece of single-player DLC for its 2010 RPG Two Worlds II early next month.
I enjoyed this game on my X360, much better than the first one. Sucks we have to wait so long for TW3. I hope they port this game to PS4/X1 in the meantime, especially after all these updates and new expansions. Would certainly help build some hype for the third entry, at least a little.
Guess they're officially done milking the only passable game they've released. They can always rename Raven's Cry again and pull a couple more sales from the unknowing public.
Two Worlds II offers adventurers the thrilling experience of a perilous and daring journey throughout a vast magical land. Rich in story, detail and content, 2W2 offers an array of unique approaches to classic game elements that push the envelope for the fantasy RPG genre.
Played this on PS3 it wasn’t bad for a B game but in no way did it “offer an array of unique approaches to classic game elements” and sure as hell didn’t push any envelopes. Why release this multiplayer so many years later ? They should re-release for this gen consoles for 19.99 with the updates
You did read that title right, the game that was released in 2010 for Europe and 2011 for North America now has microtransactions thanks to a recent update by developer Topware Interactive.
lol what ? i thought this 2010/2011 game was dead already and now they are adding micro transactions ?? at least as the article said they are adding dlcs.
From the same people that provided me a review copy of Raven's Cry then, when I gave the game a 1 due to the fact I found it unfinished, threatened me with defamation (nothing ever happened there).
Then, when they re-released the game on Steam as "Vendetta" claimed everything was fixed (even though it wasn't broken in the first place, right), but then refused to give me code for the re-release.
That re-release sits at a highly negative status on Steam, with most claiming they can't even run the game.
Just saying.

This comment leads me to believe that they are not honest will other reviews.
That comment alone makes this 'an opinion' piece and not a review. A reviewer should cover the pro and cons, grade Garphic's sound and control. May be if it had slowdown issues or lag that made it unplayable that should be mention. But to start out stating your opion on the game as a professional reviewer is lame and unperfection. Do the darn review and keep your non-RPG playing bias to yourself nob. By the way: You are wrong!
I have yet to encounter a person who played the game 3 hours and did not like it.
IMO the review is worth ignoring.
I just started the game last night and initial 10 minutes remark is about the only thing the reviewer got correct in his statements.
Yes, I was hating the visual shake elements that threw me back to old school Alien game on my Sega system. It just felt off in a 3rd person view game. (for the life of me I was looking to figure out how to turn it off in the settings)
The background blurring effect that they used was grinding on my nerves. Characters suddenly dissappearing from view and reappearing depending on how I was oriented to them. No collision detection between the AI characters during cut scenes causing roving AI (such as horses) to simply walk through the character.
The first thing I noticed that got me worried was the on screen HUD showed portions of it off screen. I immediately shut off my game and tried to see if I had something wrong with my HD display setup for the system. Switched down to 480p and still same thing. Ok, I finally found a portion of the setup in game that lets you change the interface. And an obscure choice that I had to click that allowed the game to be viewed on my widscreen display properly. Not sure why this was even an option or issue when I have never seen this in any of the hundreds of games I have played?
Ok, I was wrong in that last paragraph... the FIRST thing I noticed that worried me was reading through the manual and the text suddenly switching to german, and not in a this is the german version of what they just explained in the manual. It literally seemed like they just started speaking german to me!!!??? What... no QA of the manual?
Ok... ok... ALL of that aside, everything I just said was watered down by a lot of things I liked about the game. The blurry background was offsetting, but it actually became almost an art thing when I got used to seeing it on the screen. The characters stood out more as I am suspecting was their intention with it maybe? And I did like the fact that you could somewhat control your character during conversations and change your view point. Which I am sure some pervs are just hoping for a character with a short skirt to allow them the chance to get that upskirt shot. ha
I don't understand the authors issue with equiping weapons and such?? There is an easy setup where I have my 3 classes setup on my direction pad. Left for magic staff(with all and any equipment I want to assign), up for my archer (with bow setup), and right for my sword. I can switch at ANY time to quickly meet any challenge I might come upon. And hunting with the bow was EASY compared to Two Worlds part one. I actually did good damage from the beginning of the game.
And as for the magic system taking too long? I actually liked the idea that you had to chant to be able to use magic. And the magic is upgradeable so that it doesn't take as long to cast the spell. That is a portion of the upgrading of your skills.
But this is rambling... when I first sat down and gave it it's 15 minutes of fame I immediately marked it as a 4/10 rating. I have since put in a good 4 hours in game last night and have bumped it up to a 7/10 rating. Hoping that my continued play through the game will keep me at level keel and that I don't get into issues that drag the rating down.
Is the game great? Far from it. Is it fun... definetly. But it is for RPG fans, and don't come into it thinking it is going to be anything but what it is, an RPG that gives you some fun play and is NOT trying to be an Oblivian killer.
