Hideo Kojima: "On NGP, we can enjoy the same quality as PS3."

During the Playstation Meet, Hideo Kojima took the stage to show off some footage of MGS4. This footage was a direct export from the PS3. Here is what Kojima has to say about NGP:

I'd prefer MGS5 or a new IP. Either way, it seems the next Kojima project will either be exclusive to the Playstation line, or Sony will be getting the definitive version.

@newmonday Yeah, the possibilities for Sony and the devs are awesome. Being able to release games on both platforms (with uniques features taking advantage of the NGP hardware) effectively lowers development costs. I can see how this synergy could seem very attractive to devs, especially as indie devs can make mobile games that NGP users can also play. I just hope that the new UI gets released on PS3 the day NGP comes out.

Looks like the "NGP" will solve a big problem for Japan developers, and that problem is most Japanese play portables and living room consoles in the west.

But now games can be simultaneously developed for the PS3 and NGP, it could be as simple as downscaling like in PC games, the Capcom guy said the LP2 demo was made in 2 weeks.

I hope this means we will see more RPGs now on the PS3, I also hope we can use the same saves and PSN account on the NGP.

This doesn't confirm MGS4 will be ported on the NGP but it shows that its engine can run without constraints on it and Kojima promised to show planned games for it in this E3!

Edit:7:34AM Hideo envisions using the exact same game on the PS3 and the NGP. You play the game on your PS3 at home, and out and about you play the same game and same save on your NGP. That would be incredible if it does indeed happen. But question begs that if you buy the title for the PS3 do you have to buy it on the NGP? Or will sony via the PSN allow you to register your PS3 copy then download the NGP version. Thats a great way to get people to buy new copies. With a new copy you can download the game free on the NGP and with a used one you cant.

I already played the games that they showed off for the NGP years ago. It's making the same mistake the PSP did by just trying to slide by on better graphics alone. Although this strategy will backfire yet again as the 3DS has a much bigger and better lineup with a lot more 3rd party support.

those were just tech demos to show how they play on NGP. It is possible there will be new games instead of ports so don't get carried away.

Those were all tech demos. If anything, like Hideo Kojima says it be like a portable PS3. LBP, Killzone, Uncharted. All these games have the "gameplay" that people love

Did the rest of the presentation just go over this guy's head? It has 3G support, front and rear touch pads, real dual analog sticks, 3g, wi-fi, trophies, and a whole set of other non-gaming applications.

The 3DS's main attraction is the 3D and game cube graphics. Other than that, what's new on it? Same touch style games. Same franchises. It's probably going to be a good handheld but if you really think about it, the features are thin compared to the PSP2.

Very, very, VERY impressive stuff shown. As expected, techwise the NGP is the very clear winner. Keep the direct ports down and price it competitively, and it has a real shot.

I still think the 3DS will outsell the NGP. The original PSP blew the DS away in terms of tech but that didn't make much difference.

There is a possibility that NGP now has an updated RemotePlay that allows it to play PS3 games on the Go if you own a PS3. That will be awesome!
