A side-by-side comparison of the Wii edition of Dead Space: Extraction and the high definition port available with the PS3 version of Dead Space 2.
Why would you have disagree's when it's obvious.
I don't know why there is a comparison when is obvious.
no competition. ps3 wins. case closed. it comes free if you get dead space 2 on ps3 now.
that even though the wii is obviously inferior to the ps3 version. It doesnt take away from the fact it is a nice little rail shooter on either platform. No need to turn this topic into something bad.
never thought we'd have wii vs ps3.
disagrees on the first comment remind me how i hate wii fanboys....god dammmm
MOST POINTLESS COMPARISON EVER! no contest here
nintendo fanboys... they are rare, but they are the worst kind of fanboys.
It's like there's a blur filter on the Wii version. I imagine if they had built the game from the ground up for use on the PS3/360 the graphics would look so much better, though.
An SD console against and HD console? Yeah they're trolling.
@ disagrees herp and indeed a derp.
Wait a min...Did someone disagree with you? Wow!
To be honest i really dont see a dam differece. nothing is new it just looks like the wii game upscaled to 720 point blank and a small texture upgrade. smh for a powerful ps3 system it should look way better unless we all agree that the wii version looked good to begin with and all the ps3 did was upgrade the visuals slightly to hd. Also pause at 30seconds exactly the textures compare perfectly. http://www.geek.com/wp-cont... the ps3 version can be compared directly to the textures in re4GC edition. http://www.youtube.com/watc... Emulated on the Dolphin, go explore plenty of upscaled 1080p dolphin dead space extraction videos. Feel free to argue here but if you cant admit that its barely a step up dont bother.
You can see jaggies on the wii version everywhere most notably at 1 min where they show the text on ps3 and wii. Open your eyes.
It was ported from the Wii to the PS3. Just how big of a difference do you expect to see? lol
Maybe you should also compare it to the 360 version:)
yeah, i don't see THAT much of a difference either. the ps3 seems brighter, and some spots are more detailed. too bad its a shitty game. i can understand why they are giving this away
Good luck spending all that time getting Dolphin configured to work properly (if you ever do). I'd just rather buy the PS3 version. I spent like 6 hours on the net asking around and searching google about how to get some of those games in Dolphin to work properly and without framerate issues or graphical glitches, and barely made any progress so I just gave up. I definitely have a capable computer, so that wasn't the issue, the problem is that it's just too much of a hassle to get it working properly, if you can get it working at all.
I dont think hes promoting piracy, think he was trying to show that the wii has good graphics. using the dolphin emulator as proof of concept to show people that the games look good and that when you upscale them in the dolphin you can see what the wii would look like in hd. from the videos that i saw super mario galaxy on the dolphin in hd looks great.
13 peoples are in serious delusion, this is a no contest. suck to be a wiifangirl i guess
looks better on PS3 obviously but for a Wii game, not bad at all. It's amazing what just making HD can do, they should release PS3/360 HD (1080p, 60 FPS everything) with games that still run on regular PS3 and 360.
How dumb. Obviously the PS3 version looks better.
Its just for fun dude.
the six persons who disagreed think that africa is a country, are pro-life,vote for palin, bricked their computer by deleting system32, think that socialism is evil, rewind their dvd's when they're done watching a movie, are beliebers, are fans of twilight, wondered why Bush dind't throw an H-bomb on iraq, think that global warming is BS, ...
I wasn't expecting such a drastic difference. It's amazing what a resolution bump can do for visuals.
PS3 version is 720p correct?
I believe so, kinda surprised they couldnt bump it to 1080, its an on rails wii shooter after all.
They may have deemed 60fps @ 720p to be more worthwhile then 1080p @ 30 fps. 1080p is a lot of screen real-estate to fill. The GPUs on the 360 and PS3 are decent, but the GPU muscle required to fill 1080p at 60 Hz, except in the simplest of games, wasn't really available until a couple years after those consoles were released.
Oh, i didnt know it was 60 fps. That would explain it.
it's not the matter of could or couldn't, you must remember they basically "give" this game for FREE to every PS3 copies of DS2! why bother the extra hard work to go 1080p when 720p is so much better than the Wii already?
The Wii version is like my vision without my glasses on, such a massive difference.
Woah i knew the difference would be huge but not this huge... The resolution on the wii version is just so much lower than i expected.
its just higher resolution really =/ no lighting or even textures it seems.
Yeah but you could tell the PS3 had dumbed down graphics. I noticed ti immediately when I started the game up.
Framerate is better on PS3 as well. The comparison is obvious, if you view it as simple as "PS3 vs Wii, which is more powerful". What's interesting here is that this is one of the first times we've seen a game from the modern generation (as opposed to a PS2 game) ported up from SD to HD, and the difference is pretty astounding. To this point, you could have argued that the God of War collection, etc. would have also looked much better if ported from the PS2 to the Wii (I know Sony owns God of War -- just pretend they don't for the sake of comparison). The old "SD graphics are just fine" arguments that many people held up as proof that the Wii was a proper member of the current console generation kinda fall flat, after seeing this comparison. Even 720p is a pretty big leap over 480p. I'm not trying to offend any Wii/Nintendo fans here -- I'm just pointing out some facts to consider. I will buy a Wii HD on day 1. Zelda HD sounds glorious -- now Nintendo just needs to bring it.
well it doesnt really fall flat cause there is nothing wrong with 480p. hd or sd the game still plays and functions the same. not necessarily pertaining to this game, just generally speaking. the wii is a proper member of this current gen cause they are still making great games this gen and will continue to make great games. so in the end....yes, sd graphics are fine.
was this comparison really needed?
hhhhmm....I'm gonna go with the wii on this one. LOL This is a bigger waste of time than the DS2 360/PS3 comparison below!
Id like to know the comparison of the move to a regular dual shock. I thought about grabbing a move and this seems like a good game to benefit from it but id like to know what people think of the difference.
QUESTION....Im getting the Collector Edition and it come with Extraction but does Extraction have anything to do with DS2 (Story Wise)or is it a different game?
Extraction will take you through the events that lead up to the first Dead Space.
keep real games on high def consoles
So you admit it was already a "real" game on the Wii? Come again?
yup was a real game on a lame, gimmicky, limited hardware console
extraction is a shit game in my opinion. a quick cash in. instead of giving wii owners the real deal we had to make do with this extraction bollocks. its extraction alright, they extracted everything that was great about the original game, and made this rubbish on rails shooter. now its on ps3 you people think it has more value. what, because it has better graphics? a higher frame rate? its still a shit game, except now ps3 users are being conned out of their money. another easy buck for the developers. nothing to brag about
I actually think DS:E is a better value on PS3... because its free. It's definitely a "lite" game, and probably not worth more than about $20-$30, despite the fact that it made its debut at $50 on the Wii. It's included with DS2, in the PS3 collector's edition, along with a replica plasma cutter, and some other cool stuff.
Ps3 looks better obviously, but the visuals of Wii kinda make it more fitting? Its like watching it trough a dirty camera view or something.
such a redundant comparison. we all know by default the ps3 version will look better. what interest or use will this be to anybody? other than ps3 fans looking for some sort of validation for spending so much money on an expensive console. maybe every time a ps3 fan sits twiddling their thumbs with no games to play, they go and watch a comparison video with a game running on what is widely known as a technically inferior console. wow fucking wee. get over it. why not at least pretend to have something interesting to offer the gaming community and compare the playability of both titles? or load times etc.
"why not at least pretend to have something interesting to offer the gaming community and compare the playability of both titles? or load times etc." I'll do that, since this guy didn't. The framerate is considerably better on the PS3 version, and the motion control is very smooth and precise. It's better than the Wii version in all regards. Also, the Move glowing while you play is kinda gives you a Dead Space spooky horror vibe, if you're in a dark room, which I like. Will be great, when I play again later tonite... although having played the game on the Wii already, its not as spooky this time around. I put my Wii version of DS:E on eBay right after playing a little way through the PS3 version.
@pcz Duh! I agree. Any comparison in the realm of Wii vs PS3 is a no-brainer. Clearly the PS3 is more powerful! But to hear these comments about how the Wii sucks is disheartening. I loved Extraction on the Wii. It's the only console that I own. I deon't have time for any more than that, and I like Nintendo. What happens next after the best graphics possible? You don't have to live any more? You don't have to deal with life? All the consoles are fun. Get over it. Then again, this is an internet chat and not worth very much at this point, other than to tel you all the Wii PWNS!!!
PS3 owns the Wii lol what were people expecting?
I'm surprised the Wii version looks as good as it does.
well, i can see why this game is FREE, the game is crap, but hey, its free. lets hope they fix all of these glitches: -Necromorphs being trapped behind objects, not really a glitch, but you have to restart the whole chapter again -Random black outs -Character no moving -Doors not working -Bosses stay there after they die -Random Freezes -Game loops itself -Sound glitches -Falling through floors -Failing to load -Camera Freezes -Flying through walls -Levels/areas do not loading -Cut scenes wig out, and stop. Characters just stand there.
Is that the PS3 version?
no, the wii version
Is this the game that Edge gave a better rating than Killzone 2 and Infamous? I'll put that to the test.
That reminds me, I've been meaning to fire up the latest Dolphin build and see how Extraction runs on it. It'll be a nice way to pass the time until Dead Space 2 arrives.
Eh, it's just upscaled. not like they actually improved any of the graphics or visuals it's just there isn't any low rez flicker and i guess that's it. Frame rate looks 60 on both too. The issue i have is mostly if the move feels as responsive. I tried a few move pointer controls and it's a wee bit laggy. not by all that much but side by side wii pointers more responsive and sensitive.
Looked very good for a Wii game...definitely one of the best looking Wii games...The PS3 port looks noticeably sharper and high res
Holy gawd. Look at all the Sony/HD fanboys!!!
