Starhawk Readies for Deployment with New Build

Warhawk is one of the few multiplayer titles that successfully blended and balanced ground combat and aerial combat, and stands as one of the greatest online PS3 games. Developer Incognito Entertainment dissolved shortly before the game’s release, but Dylan Jobe and some Incognito veterans founded Lightbox Interactive. And their debut title is said to be a direct sequel to Warhawk.

Day 1

This is my most anticipated game of 2011 next to Arkham City. I'm expecting this to be the best online game I've ever played.

disturbing_flame4856d ago (Edited 4856d ago )

Hope people @ incognito will make just a unique announcement to make it shine as it deserves, give the first trailer only to the gamers @ E3 not an exclusivity to a zine, Incognito.
Make an amazing trailer that crushes our minds.
Warhawk was definitly my best game on PS3 far away from killzone, COD (even if i've got a PC to play it) or anything else, this game was amazing. If it's done the right way, it can be a big surprise.

We are talking about dogfights in space at high speed.
Legendary.

starcb264856d ago

It's a good game but I always went like 0-20, so I did stopped playing.

Wenis4856d ago

Nice. I bet Starhawk is going to feel a lot like Star Wars Battlefront, which is a good thing, especially since Battlefront 3 is nowhere to be found

captain-obvious4856d ago

THIS is what sony needs to push as a HALO counter part
i mean look at ti
its fun, colorful, addicting, solid game play, and co-op

its a BLAT
they just need to advertise the shit about it
and there you got your self a billion dollar franchise

Sev4848d ago (Edited 4848d ago )

Fake
This is the same thing as the Modern Warfare 3 thing. It's all a hack thanks to the custom firmwares that are released. They allow you to name a game whatever you want. We're going to see a LOT of this in the coming weeks. Just to help debunk the Starhawk thing... It hasn't even been announced, do you really think it's already in beta? Killzone 3 was announced just before E3 in June, it didn't reach beta testing until October/November IIRC.

Lightbox Interactive/Incognito should be making a new Starwars Battlefront. Hopefully they add some "light swords" in SH.

HolyOrangeCows4856d ago

Isn't Starhawk still just a rumor?

Dark_king4856d ago

nope never was,Dylan Jobe was the one that said he was working on it.But they never said what Starhawk is,an their is an old game with that name.It could very well be a remake or sequel to that game instead of Warhawk.

DigitalRaptor4855d ago (Edited 4855d ago )

I'm also excited for this. If it's anything like Warhawk, we're in for a treat!

Most likely E3.

Warhawk was one of my favorite games this generation. I actually re-bought it because I lost my older copy, and I had a blast with the jetpacks!

GrandTheftZamboni4856d ago

I re-bought it too after my wife hid the disc from me. We're still married, though. I forgave her.

RevXM4855d ago

Next time download it.
She will be like "He cant hide his game from m... WTF where is it?" n_n

nnotdead4856d ago

i too really liked the game, even though i never got the hang of the Warhawks. still, trying to race across the map to return a flag in a jeep while all the planes, vehicles, and soldiers are chasing and trying to blow you up. that was great times.

starcb264856d ago

I got my first taste of that today and it was sooo much fun!

dead_eye4855d ago

@ starcb26 It is an awesome and hard game. When things like that happen is the best.

Have you been playing it long? It is a really hard game to play till you get used to it. But well worth it in the end.

ABizzel14856d ago

Yeah an E3 reveal, but when will the game come out? Will it only be on PSN? And is it going to be multiplayer only again, or will there be a single player this time? So many question, so little answers, so many months away.

DJ4856d ago

The final version of Warhawk was absolutely amazing. Adding jetpacks finally made ground troops nearly as capable as aircraft, and even added a hilarious trophy to the mix, i.e. hitting a jetpack troop with your Warhawk.

cpt_kaos4856d ago

LOL yeah That was some bug.

Dart894856d ago

I just bought warhawk yesterday and i gotta say it's damn addicting i played all day today. If Starhawk is addicting as Warhawk i'm sold.

MariaHelFutura4856d ago

You just bought WH yesterday?!?!?!?

DEATHSTROKE-cro-4856d ago

nice. one more Warhawk fan :)

damn, who will wait until E3. fuck

Tony-A4856d ago

Luckily it's early this year. June 7th. I hated when it was July and it had a good date last year (mid-June).

s0ph1atr0n4856d ago

You just bought it?! Well then again, it's certainly a lot cheaper now. Don't sell it!

starcb264856d ago

I bought it when it was on sell on the PS store.

mightyboot4856d ago

better late than never!

the demo is enough for me cause i dont play multiplayer that much and being a mp only game it kinda drives me away.

young juice4856d ago

people are still playing warhawk?

i called gamestop about this game nearly 2 years ago and the deuche that answered said the game was basically abandoned.

TheHater4856d ago

hahahahahahahahahahhah...look at comment again.....hahahhahahahahahahah
Why would anyone ask gamestop for any kind of gaming advice is beyond me.

Shadow Flare4856d ago (Edited 4856d ago )

Uh he said that?? There's still a good core following that play it. I played it for like 2 years solid when it released then had a massive break from it. Then I recently got back into warhawk and played it for months just before GT5 came out and there's still a lot of people who play it. And I play in the official CTF server, it's always full up. This game has a real loyal fanbase. Can't blame them, it's a really addictive game

Lirky4856d ago

So is starhawk just about aircrafts and no ground combat.

s0ph1atr0n4856d ago

Well you can still have 'ground combat' in space.

Shadow Flare4856d ago (Edited 4856d ago )

No, I'd imagine some maps are based on moons or planets, maybe some others might be in open space. But ground combat was as big if not bigger then aerial combat in warhawk so starhawk must have ground combat. So I'd imagine some planet / moon / asteroid based maps

Tony-A4856d ago

Hopefully we can have both. I wouldn't be too fond of nothing but aircrafts and gunfights in space corridors.

I need my jeeps, APCs, Dropships and tanks!

Shadow Flare4856d ago

I'm positive they'll all be there. That was what made warhawk so great. The balance of everything. Lightbox aren't gonna make this a 100% aerial game

visualb4855d ago

why would they remove everything that made thr first game in the 2nd?

if anything they'll just add more options to the 2nd game.

Not a single Reistance? Fuck this article.

mastershredder14d ago (Edited 14d ago )

Starhawk over Warhawk?...... Dude, NO ONE should listen to you.

Odd choices for "best" more like you settled as these being the "best" that available to you at the time, cause a lot of these blow or were average to poor performers that ended up in bargain bin.

Missing too many great sci-fi titles here. The Void, The Resistance Series, Killzone 2 and 3, Enslaved, man.. there were so many, this is redicu-list.

FreeckyCake14d ago

Nobody should listen to you either with that attitude.

OtterX13d ago

I agree that Starhawk shouldn't be above Warhawk, however I must say that Starhawk multiplayer was incredible for its time! Many people wrote it off bc the single player was quite terrible, bc it was basically 1 huge tutorial for the multiplayer. But I can tell you never spent any significant amount of time in MP. It was doing incredibly tense base building w air, foot and land vehicle (and mech!) combat long before Fortnite was ever a thing.

I bet it would have been much better received if it had just ditched the story mode all together. So many people like yourself completely wrote it off based on reviews by reviewers that let the criticism of single player weigh heavily on their scores. I bet you didn't even play it.

Friendlygamer14d ago

The riddick games are some of the best stealth titles ever, highly underrated

YourMommySpoils14d ago

What games? All recall plating was Escape from Butcher Bay.

Friendlygamer14d ago (Edited 14d ago )

There's also the less acclaimed 'assault on dark Athena'

( also, not saying this to you specifically but there's both resistance and killzone games on the list, it's amazing how even something so simple and innocent as a game list can be turned into misinformed vitriol here lol )

jznrpg14d ago

Glad to see Resonance of Fate. Enslaved was pretty good too. I’m sure there are others nobody has listed but I’m too tired to try and think of anything

Roundtable: Dead Game Franchises We Miss

With every big game now belonging to a big intellectual property, there are those that have become redundant. Here are the series' we miss.

RPGer1090d ago

I miss Dark Cloud I mean damn, Dark Cloud 2 is one of the best Action RPG game ever made. The game have: Rich Worlds, different setting, tons of contents, vareity in gameplay like never before (and even after), best buliding mechanics, crafting system like no one did and finally impressive graphics.

Most underrated game ever. It deserved the popularity and sales of Zelda and Final Fantasy. ut unfortunately, Level-5 and Sony didn't advertise it at all.

titans99991090d ago

My franchises I wish would make a come back, are Battlefront by pandemic studios - galactic conquest was the best, mercenaries 1 and 2, and prototype 1 and 2...great games!
