The multiplayer with base building was so good and so overlooked in its time.
I think it took a lot of flak in the reviews because of its lackluster single player campaign. That's a shame. The campaign was pretty much one big tutorial to get you ready for the online mp. Yea, it wasn't great, but the mp was.
I hope they make another Warhawk or Starhawk in the future!
I uninstalled Starhawk around 3 years ago, mainly because almost nobody was playing it at that time. It was one of the best multiplayer games on the market, so it's kind of sad that it wasn't more popular than it ended up being.
Was really into this game for a while. The multiplayer was fun as hell. Would probably be all over it again if it got a rerelease on ps4. Hardly got any marketing when it first released.
This game was incredible. The Build & Battle mechanic, combined with 32 player counts on massive maps, seriously made for one of the best multiplayer experiences ever. I loved how they didn’t make the Hawks super OP like in Warhawk, and there was so much more depth to the combat. Warhawk may be a PS3 classic, but Starhawk was far superior.
And it wasent locked behind paywall Ps3 graphics are mechanically the same as the generation 8 games, not much apart besides a prettier display of what we already got
Hate to say it, but the stacking of teams really ruined this game. Was a huge Warhawk fan, and purchased Starhawk day 1. From day 1, veterans of Warhawk would stack their team and just destroy the opposing team. The enemy team could not even escape the base without being bombarded with attacks. You would have a whole team of max 50 level players against a whole other side with maybe 2 or 3 maxed players and noobs. I tried so hard to prevent this by changing sides to help the unbalanced gameplay, but most others just wanted to stack and stomp. It really was sad to see a game with such potential get abused like that. It was like that until I stopped playing because I couldn't take it anymore. The community killed this game before it even had a chance to grow. Nobody likes joining a game and getting clobbered so bad enjoying yourself becomes tedious.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOO WELL AT LEAST WE GOT WARHAWK
Damn, I barely got to play it online, as it was one of those Sony exclusives back then (2011-2012) that came with a code to unlock its online part, and I bought my copy pretty late, so it was second hand, and I couldn't justify paying 10€/$ for it when it was that late and the servers of several first-party titles were being shut down. I just hope they're not going to do the same with Warhawk...
Even if they do people can still play it. You can use your PS3 as a dedicated server for up to 32 players, so long as you've got good internet service.
real liked this game
Awesome game
I only played the beta, it was fun. But isn't it weird this gets decommissioned before Warhawk?

When did LightBox Interactive close down? They laid of a few people after sony ended the contract in 2012 but they began work on a IOS game.
