GameSpy: Kinect vs. PlayStation Move vs. Wii MotionPlus

It's a battle for the motion-control crown: Microsoft's new Kinect device for the Xbox 360 promises to make you the controller, the PlayStation Move promises a whole new level of control, and Nintendo's Wii MotionPlus promises to... improve what was already pretty good on the Wii. Sounds like this is the most perfect setup for a Mexican standoff since Eli Wallach, Lee van Cleef, and that other dude got together in that graveyard.

I really like the Kinect but I can't figure out how hardcore games are going to work.

The Move has buttons but no good games yet.

The Wii just sucks!

jneul5333d ago

move does have good games does everything have to be AAA for people to buy them, anyway re5:gold, heavy rain, eyepet, sports champions, tumble echochrome ii, time crisis are all good games in my opinion and some of them was underated on places like ign where they clearly just wanted to hate on motion control (time crisis)

bviperz5333d ago

Kinect is like the Wii in that you can 'waggle' and get results, just without the Wii-mote.

n4f5333d ago (Edited 5333d ago )

ill just stick with wmp
cheaper (price, tech )
move is good but not enough software
and kinect well it have problems with brothers

shadyiswin5333d ago

@at ray, I liked your joke better, originality is key mag....wait mag? Isn't that the shitty shooter that was overlooked on ps3? Lol, they're exclusives just dont sell it's gotta be disappointing and demeaning to developers working all day and night to program for the complex for no reason at all cause it was hacked to shreds so easily cell processor.lol

I own both a Wii with Motion Plus, and a PS3 with Move. Out of those
two Move comes out on top, it's amazingly precise. I was just playing Gladiator Duel on Sports Champions and it really makes you feel like you're in the ring. The only way the Wii beats Move is in software availability, but then again Move is relatively new on the Market. I can't comment on Kinect, as I don't own a 360. Got to admit though, it does look good.

FFXI1015333d ago

I don't own Kinect, but I thought it'd be cool to use Kinect on the XBL dash board.

However, after went to a friend's place and play it for hours I felt the respond time is a bit slow and not as acurate as Move, besides to have a controller in my hand is better. Feels way better/quicker whether is playing games or navigate the menu/dash board.

I think Move has has better value(games for both casual and hard cord gamers, plus is has "Buttons") So, yeah I agree with you.

baodeus5333d ago

yeah, MS still need to improve navigating the dash board. But you know what, if you have tried the dance central, navigation in that game is just fluid, accurate and fast (i remember they said something about kinect can't read wrist movement, but that is exactly what i did, just flicking my wrist, in dance central and it works flawlessly.) May MS should ask harmonix to do their kinect dash board.

Alcohog5333d ago

Out of all three I have to give the nod to the Move so far. I just am not feeling Kinect. Probably going to sell it.

Kurisu5333d ago

You should at least wait for some better Kinect software to land before selling it! You may end up regretting it.

gigaware5333d ago

he doesn't have one trust me. He hates the 360

Bigpappy5333d ago

Giga is right on the money he spent way too much time trashing Kinect before launch to have ran out and bought it.

Liar alert sounded off. GTFOOH LIAR!

shadyiswin5333d ago

About 2 months ago you said "Kinect should still be sitting in a R&D lab, not a month from hitting retail shelves." #5 63d ago by Alcohog

What made you change your mind? Lol, had to be those burger king commercials huh, I trollz hardz ^_-

KaiokenKid5333d ago

I dont like the wii really. If I did want a Wii like experience though, i would go with Move simply because its more accurate and its in HD. But like I said, im not interested in any of these right now.

KratosGirI5333d ago

Tech wise, Move is the obvious answer.

Game wise, the Wii for me.

shadyiswin5333d ago

No tech wise it's kinect, obviously. Go look at the move taken apart and then look at the kinect. I'd link but I'm on my cell so yeah, kinect's guts are way more impressive, ddr ram, cooling fan, ir scanner, accelerometer for who knows what, self adjust motor. The move has a gyroscope, accelerometer, led light circuit board for buttons, pretty much the wii to the core, just there tech is reversed.

The wii sensor has 2 inferred points of intrest and the wii controller has a inferred camera that reads the distance from the wii sensor. The move is reversed in the obvious fact that the controllers are not the camera...the camera is. The led on the tip of the move tells the camera where the controller/player is, the camera also measures the size of glowing sphere to know how close you are, proving to be more accurate but all in all the same just reversed. By the way I'm sure nintendo thought of this way but was just way to cheap to incorporate cameras into every system. I mean why wouldn't you use a camera to be the inferred camera, honesty we'd never know and we didn't.

Nintendo got away with murder this console cycle by selling everyone gamecube with wands. I'm glad I waited my favorite thing to play was wii sports and I can say kinect sports is way better, the just need handball.....I ment to type baseball but handball would be awesome, ok bottom line of kinect technically is far superior.

PlayStation Move Controller Used to Perform Surgery on a Pig That Was 5,780 Miles Away

A group of surgeons made headlines after they managed to perform an endoscopic procedure on a pig located in Hong Kong by using PlayStation controllers. It involved the use of a PS5 DualSense controller as well as a PlayStation Move controller.

jznrpg245d ago

There is at least a few good jokes that could come from that title

Cacabunga244d ago

Yet another powerful device Sony gave up supporting. KZ3 move was one of the best motion controller implementation ever

just_looken244d ago

Right the ps move was awesome i have the gun thing from killzone still.

Relientk77245d ago

That's really cool. It's crazy something like that is possible with gaming controllers 1000's of miles away.

Lexreborn2245d ago

Guess that submarine should’ve used move controllers instead of logitech
