Rockstar San Diego Working On Unannounced PS3/360 AAA Title - Red Dead Revolution?

SystemLink: "There ain't no rest for the wicked. It still feels like Red Dead Redemption is fresh out the box, but Rockstar San Diego haven't stopped for a breather after their most recent Games Of The Year contender.

In fact, they've been working on something since June 2010."

Hope so - I would say it's inevitable really :)

TheLastGuardian5100d ago

Red Dead Redemption is my favorite multiplatform game of this generation. I say it's too soon to be thinking about another game in the series. I put 160 hours into RDR and I'm still not tired of it. I had a fun time getting the platinum. I'm still waiting on Undead Nightmare and after that, I wan't a GTA IV style DLC for RDR that's a prequel to RDR where we play as John Marston when he rode in a gang.

ReservoirDog3165100d ago (Edited 5100d ago )

I would say no. They released a statement a little after RDR was released that said they'll revisit the series every several years. Several. It's been 5 months.

I'd guess Bully College Edition or something.

Edit: http://www.industrygamers.c...

"significantly exceeding our expectations and demonstrating the creative genius layered deeply within the Rockstar studio structure.  We believe the franchise can be successfully iterated every several years and offers the Company a new mega franchise."

SanMarco5100d ago

OBVIOUSLY. its been rumored and its an instant classic.
why wouldnt they start working on it...
*predicting 2012 release*

Akagi5100d ago (Edited 5100d ago )

On the bright side, It's been 2 years since GTA 4 dropped.

HOPEFULLY, that 2 years have been put to good use.

siyrobbo5100d ago

hopefully we'll hear something on agent soon, or hopefully the next gta iteration

ndibu5100d ago

They gave Sony back their 50 mil and decided they'd rather profit than sell out. . .which kinda sounds like the same thing once you say it out loud but who cares?
I haven't seen or heard much bout this game but from the premise, I want it

PirateThom5100d ago

Rockstar North are not Rockstar San Diego. :)

King-Leonidas5100d ago

dont forget that it was Microsoft who started this.(paid 20 mil i think for gta Dlc)

Elven65100d ago (Edited 5100d ago )

Maybe if you started gaming this generation...

Anyone else remember Tomb Raider, EA and the Dreamcast (they wanted SEGA to make EA Sports the only sports developer on the Dreamcast, Bernie Stollar said no), etc?

If memory serves right, there were even similar things happening with Arcade ports on home consoles in the 80s.

Edit: Also, the $50 million GTA thing was simpy an estimate by Micahel Patcher. I don't know the specifics of the deal but some people were saying the payments were repayed by Rockstar to Microsoft?

sinclaircrown5100d ago

Rockstar planned on releasing DLC for GTA4. MS were just first in line to pay up and get it first.

DLC is here to stay. Personally, if I get my moneys worth, I'll be happy.

As long as the DLC is on its own a decent game, then why not?

lodossrage5100d ago

The things fanboys have to tell themselves to get a good night sleep makes one just shake their heads in wonderment.

PhilipLarkin5100d ago

Agreed. The next thing you know, they'll have a silly little debate about GT5 =S

falloutx5100d ago (Edited 5100d ago )

OMG you've been trolling all day aren't you tired?

Some of his comments on the last 24 hours

Because last I checked, ME 2 had soared past 2 million units on just 360. Already thats more than Heavy Rain, Heavenly Sword, Infamous, WKC, Pacific Rift and many other ps3 exclusives soon even more than killzone 2.

Chuckle almost 3 million, try 2.4 million...so all the pretty graphics in the world couldn't get people to finish the game?Less than half??? Probably too busy playing MW2 huh? Here I was, thinking KZ2 campaign mode was OUT OF THIS WORLD and Halo campaigns are boring and yet, half of you people haven't even completed it yet. 1 in 15 ps3 owners have bought killzone and 1 in 32 ps3 owners have completed killzone

Microsoft knows how to do it. Kinect pre-orders are at 150k with 5 weeks to go. Didn't that other controller only manage that on its 1st week sales total?

I'd rather have another Midnight Game or a GTA. Most likely Midnight Club.

e-p-ayeaH5100d ago (Edited 5100d ago )

Probably this will be a prequel telling the backstory of John Marston when he was a bandit and how he met his wife and how he got seperated from his gang at the end.

I hope this is true cause the "dying west" theme on Redemption wasnt that western feel to it if you know what i mean

djfullshred5100d ago (Edited 5100d ago )

But on the other hand, there is more interesting expansion with new things to play with if it moves forward. You can only run around skinning critters in the old West for so long before getting bored.

Rockstar Needs To Take A Break From The Series After GTA 6

In a time when Rockstar has forgotten everything else except GTA and RDR, it's about time the developer got back to some of its gems.

Wonder what happened to the leaked medieval game that they were working on ... hope that's still on going and gets released sometime after GTA VI

gold_drake4d ago

eh wat?

its been on "break" for 11 years now ha 5 came out literally 11 years ago

isarai4d ago

Seeing as how it's been like 12yrs between releases, i don't think taking even more time is a good decision for the series

TheNamelessOne4d ago

So GTA 7 in around 2045 or 2050 lol

Mr_cheese2d ago

So make one GTA every human generation instead of every other console generation?

Come on...

Rockstar Games: It's Time to Reignite Forgotten Franchises

While Rockstar Games are profiting from their online venture, should they reconsider its approach and return to its other beloved franchises?

Rockstar is the last company that should be risk averse.

The capital they can put into a game is enormous, but it doesn't have to be a massive scale title either.

Profchaos34d ago

It's a shame but money walks.

I'm a mega fan of everything rockstar right up until GTA online took over I can't get into it I've tried so many times it just doesn't interest me but I have probably picked up everything they have been involved with from GTA on the PS1 through to rdr 2 and everything in between like the surfing game surfing h30, ping pong, omni the list goes on.

I've been personally hoping for a modern release of GTA IV for ps5 to finally give me a modern way to play GTA on a modern console at 60

Iceball200034d ago

Need a new Midnight Club, Smugglers Run, and Bully

SonyStyled34d ago

First played it on the PS2 and man… you’ve been missing out. It’s been available on modern PS and Xbox consoles for a couple years. This might actually be the best time of year to start playing it with the ‘back to school’ and holiday themes throughout the game. I last played it on PS4 and it’s still one of my favorites from the 6th gen. Highly recommend finding time for it

S2Killinit34d ago

Thank you. I wonder though if they might be remaking it. If they are, I would like to play the modern/remake for the first time.

aaronaton34d ago

I think they need to diversify and bring back some old IPs for sure, just for staff retention. Some staff will have been making GTA games for the last decade, it must all be so tiring.
A small separate team with a £20m budget on Bully 2 or Midnight Club would be good to see.

-Foxtrot34d ago

I don’t understand why they need massive budgets on some of their titles

Like a Bully remake would be nothing in comparison, the map size is so small compared to their later titles that even if they expand it still would pale in comparison. The things they could add.

Rockstar almost ported 2 classics for Nintendo, and they’re not GTA

Rockstar Games' The Warriors tie-in game and Bully almost landed on Nintendo handhelds, but the GTA 6 devs never got them off the ground.

Bully would have been a great one for portable. I would have bought it.

Knightofelemia64d ago

What's wrong with porting 2 classics to the Switch? Bully is a decent game I know nothing about the Warriors. I own LA Noire on the Switch would have grabbed the GTA trilogy if it wasn't a steaming pile of shit.
