The Wii probably has the worst ever attach rate for hardcore games.

Yi-Long5387d ago

... IF i would have had a Wii, which I don't, cause they haven't release a 'bundle' with a game I would actually want to play, like Mario Galaxy.

However, I say I would have bought this game if I had a Wii, but that's not entirely true: I would have bought this game if it would have included the option to play the game in the original language.

stragomccloud5387d ago

Who cares that it's bundeled with Wii sports and Wii sports resort, most consoles don't include any game anyway.

By the way, Wii Sports while drunk with friends is freaking awesome!

Can't see myself playing it sober though.

Trebius5387d ago

Are they TRYING to advertise???

badz1495387d ago

get mad when people say that Wii is purely casual! the proof is right in front of our eyes! it's proven that beside Mario and friends and some other casual games like lets dance or what so ever, a mature games like this have almost no market on the Wii! and this is Metroid for god sake

stragomccloud5387d ago (Edited 5387d ago )

Actually, Stateside and in Japan, the game has been performing pretty well. Also, Wii game sales from core franchises seem to have long legs.

Case in point... That's not proof of anything. Personally I feel sorry for people that can't look past the system's power to enjoy the truly unique experiences that only the Wii provides. Oh well, ignorance is bliss I suppose.

Lich1205387d ago

Its also the game itself though. I bought a wii for the prime trilogy. I don't have, nor will I purchase this game. My roommate had it for a bit (and hes a very big Metroid fan) and gave it a so-so review after beating it.

Its a different take on the metroid series, and not one that I think as many people were excited about. At least thats my take. Im sure many people will enjoy it though.

ChickeyCantor5387d ago

"Its a different take on the metroid series"

BS ALERT.

Seriously its 90% just that, METROID.
The other stuff is just a dramatized story nothing more.

AWBrawler5386d ago

Other M is just as much metroid as Super Metroid! I played Super Metroid leading up to its launch. Only difference is the presentation of the story. Its a definite must buy!

badz1495386d ago (Edited 5386d ago )

I was just saying that majority Wii gamers don't buy this kind of game and particularly games that are more on the serious side like this one. if I have a Wii, I'll definitely buy this and skip all the craps other Wii gamers are buying in a buck loads! (Wii sports, fit for example)

Japan...still in top 3. America, sold over 200K week one. Debuted #1 WORLDWIDE. Go play dumb Madden and COD and leave the better games for Wii. :)

badz1495386d ago (Edited 5386d ago )

can't you see that you're contradicting yourself hard over there? with over 30m Wii sold in NA, 200k week 1 is nothing be proud of!...and there's this 1 game call modern warfare which turned out to be a CoD game exists on Wii as well!

tunaks15387d ago (Edited 5387d ago )

a little perspective of Metroid's "selling power" on wii.

(world wide)
week 1 of other m - 284,657
week 1 of prime 3 - 367,288

certainly nothing too drastically different,
as a side note Prime Trilogy didn't fare any better then the above.

Darkfocus5387d ago

but prime trilogy was a re-release of games so a lot of people didn't buy it cause they already had the trilogy.

TheDeadMetalhead5387d ago

Prime Trilogy was published in very limited quantities, though. And Nintendo stopped publishing it just a few months after it released (It costs like $70 now).

tunaks15387d ago

ok, but i also provided prime 3 sales...

PS Move is killing the Wii the signs are there.

or

HD Gaming is Killing the Wii

KratosGirI5387d ago

I have Move and you don't.

SUCK IT!

tunaks15387d ago

yes because the move has so much to do with Other M

maniacmayhem5387d ago

Nintendo needs to get back and come out with what everyone has been asking for.

A 2D Metroid!

No gimmick first person functionality, no waggle, no Samus with huge boobs!

2D METROID!

PS3-2475387d ago

Metroid Prime series was good but yeah I agree 2D Medroid is just more fun to me. Just like 2D Mario.

Game-ur5387d ago

It would be great if it had the style of Shadow Complex, I just want one pure old school Meteroid.

Pleas Nintendo just one.

ChickeyCantor5387d ago

"It would be great if it had the style of Shadow Complex, I just want one pure old school Meteroid.

Pleas Nintendo just one."

People like you are horrible.
Cause most of the time people just scream how Nintendo doesn't innovate and yet people scream for the same stuff.
If they do something different, Nintendo has lost touch and need to keep it oldschool, and when they go oldschool people complain they are rehashing.

Game-ur5386d ago (Edited 5386d ago )

They make old school Mario, old school Zelda and we are getting an old school DK, what's wrong with an old school Mtroid?

And horrible? Me? What did I say to disserve this?

tunaks15387d ago

looks like you havent played it,
this is a return to classic metroid- play the dam game first, you would know this game has no waggle if you actually played it.

Darkfocus5387d ago

it still has the stupid first person searching gimmick and turning the wii mote to reload though and I'm offended that you even mentioned older metroids in the same sentence as this game. all I did for %90 of the combat was tap the d pad and nothing ever hit me.(the other 10% was the parts where it forced you to go in first person to kill something).

stragomccloud5387d ago

I personally like the change. Still, I'm still pining for Metroid Dread to come to fruition. That's the purely 2D Metroid game we've been waiting for.

Nathaniel_Drake5387d ago

yeah I agree, it was all about the metroid story and not of Samus. That's the way it should be

nnotdead5387d ago

i want to scream yes, and i would buy a Wii that day, but they wont nor would i.

Nioh games definitely up there at the top alongside Ninja Gaiden BLK.

LoveSpuds880d ago

There is a decent fan base for the Nioh games, but still think they are criminally overlooked and under appreciated.

I just bought the PS5 collection to replay them again with all their DLC, a sweet collection for my games shelf for sure.

deleted880d ago

Yea, those gardens haven't been plowed in over 10 years now though. Imagine if they cultivated it, let it grow again.

Starman69880d ago

Amazing what ya can do with a samurai sword lol 🤣

tehpees3880d ago

The honourable mention though.

TheSenorCheese880d ago

originally it wasn't going to be included because of their take on Samus' character. But the gameplay's actually not bad.

Vits880d ago

Honestly, I don't know if we can even blame them for that take. Nintendo's Sakamoto was credited as the writer and from what we learned later with the Retro Studios interviews for the Prime series, Nintendo apparently never saw Samus as this stoic badass that most of the west imagined her as. Going as far as describing her as "motherly".

shinoff2183880d ago

Ninja Gaiden was dope but I don't really care for alot of their games.

Well it almost killed Metroid so…

PhillyDillyDee1126d ago

Yeah we all loved how you took a stoic badass and turned her into a whiny shrew. All those writers should be sacked.

H91126d ago

I mean it was a killer

Terry_B1125d ago

Sometimes, I doubt that Reggie was that great for Nintendo after all.

2D Metroid Retrospective: Bring on the Remakes

VGChartz's Paul Broussard: "The early-mid 2000s saw something of a golden age for Metroid games. After an eight year hiatus, Metroid burst back onto the scene in dramatic fashion. Largely buoyed by the critical and financial success of Metroid Prime (at least, relative to other Metroid releases), Metroid saw a whopping six new titles between 2002 and 2007, as well as one rather bizarre pinball spin-off that wound up being much better than it had any right to be. Metroid had never been this popular before."

Never though the day would come where I say this but I’d be fine with having every 2D Metroid remade the way Dread plays.

INMATEofARKHAM1344d ago

I just want them all in the Switch.
