Philosophically, Sony's trying to secure the middle ground in the motion-control landscape. The overall experience doesn't feel as contrived as some Wii games and most Move games look tons better than anything on the Wii. And the cognitive jump that Move asks players to make doesn't feel quite as weird as the controller-free
A group of surgeons made headlines after they managed to perform an endoscopic procedure on a pig located in Hong Kong by using PlayStation controllers. It involved the use of a PS5 DualSense controller as well as a PlayStation Move controller.
That's really cool. It's crazy something like that is possible with gaming controllers 1000's of miles away.
Air Conflicts: Secret Wars debuted in 2011, and later updated for modern consoles. However, it's the PlayStation 3 edition that stands out.
Sony's PlayStation Move may not have been able to contend with Nintendo's Wii, but it paved the way for PlayStation VR's success story.
Lack of games that proved the concept that 3rd parties could then copy en masse?
Because it was a uninspired ripoff of the Wii controller without the Nintendo library to back it and didn't try to put any real effort into development such as getting their top developers to make games for it and instead gave tech demos disguised as games to their least talented developers so the best can focus on single player only games.
Socom, killzone, resistance and tiger wood 14 were great with the move but agree lacked more games.
From the article - "That must-buy game may be a ways off, though, and that may pose a problem for Sony as they try to get people to buy into the Move phenomenon."
The fact that so many released games can be patched to support Move gives it a definite compretitive edge. The core gamers will pick Move up to play titles such as Heavy Rain, RE Gold, Dead Sapce Extraction, etc. And then you have the upcoming list of hardcore games like SOCOM4, Killzone 3, MAG, that will draw in more of the hardcore. For the casuals - well they'll have the usual "ware"!
I agree that there is not a 'killer app' yet for the Move - but Sony's strategy (unlike M$) is not to focus on one or two titles, but to invest in a variety of titles. A strategy which has paid off for Sony with its PS3 exclusives (unlike M$ whos cupboard seems to be running bare come 2011).
In any case all eyes are on Sorcery right now, and from the early previews it's looking promising. It's the closest thing to a killer app for the Move which appeals to both hardcore and casual gamers.
But I have to ask the question - with so many games supporting Move anyway, and with it's up coming games line up - does it really require a killer app?
I like the way you think. ;P
Oh come one, there's over 50 games we already know about, there must me something/s that tickle peoples fancy as a must buy.
Ill but Move at sum point, im in NO rush, i liked Ruse but DIDNT like playin it with me DS3 um but yeah, i like the idea of layin across my big ass sofa (stoned) and not havin 2 use TWO hands (holdin me DS3) just 2 fast forward or pause a movie (just finished watchin Robin Hood)/tv show (started watchin Dexter 2 weeks ago, watched em all now) or music (always listenin 2 music) so Move has bit of multi-purpose 4 me, im sick of usin my DS3 2 do simple jobs, i could hav a smoke or a beer in the other hand, or i could go for the plain old "hand down me trouser" routine
As u may tell, ive been drinkin/smokin, im findin it hard t o type right now so i think i better stop, andi ibve just finished cookin sum sausage sandwiches and its made me feel REAALLY sick, if i stiop typin i coud go 2 the toilet and b sick
I am so confused. One site praises Tumble, another calls it crap. One site says Move has a lot of problems, another says it's perfect. Sports Champions and Start the Party get really low scores in one site and get way above average on others. I want the Move but I am confused by the big divide. I mean someone took away points from Start the Party for a short single player but for a party game why does that matter so much? Are these people just nitpicking Sony games as per usual or are these actual concerns? Sigh.
