More Bugs in Madden 2008 for 360

PSYKOMANTiS waited for weeks, days, hours, minutes to get my copy of Madden 2008 for my Xbox 360. PSYKOMANTiS could not wait for what is to him, the football experience that always seems to kick off the season of pigskin video gaming. This is the pinnacle of greatness...sitting on the couch with your friends, a couple beers, and some beef sandwiches.

The only reason the 360 version has higher reviews from a few is because it runs at 60 fps which is faster than the PS3 version and has nothing to do with gameplay. I wonder if the PS3 version has the same bugs. It should since the game is suppose to be identical besides the frame rate. If not then I would rather have the PS3 version that works than the 360 version that looks pretty but doesn't work. Either way EA is wack and can't develop a bug free game.

If there was no collision detection then you would'nt be able to tackle anyone...i have it on xb360 and that hasn't happened to me at all...but Madden has always had glitches, i mean its a game for crying out loud...last year on PS3 and xb360 they had the cheap animation glitches that let you Juke/Spin through guys.
I mean come on he ran a touchdown and they guy when through the wall, it would be a real problem if the guy got stuck there and he couldnt play madden ever again or he had to shut his system down or somethin.

Look like I commented up yesterday on the article about Ubisoft AI not being able to run on the PS3, I said its up to developers to make good games and stop blaming it on the hardware. This is proofs EA has been working on the 360 for a long time now and they have no right to be shipping out a game that is unfinished and still has bugs.

I have been playing Madden since the days of the Genesis. The players have been walking thru walls since PS1. After you score a TD and while you are lining up for the XP, on defense you can run your player straight thru the endzone and disappear into the stands. The funny thing is, your players name is still visible.

I cannot believe that no one has noticed this before. I have been running thru the walls on XP's for many, many years now. EA never fixes all of the bugs in Madden.

I am not sure if Tiberon even considers this a bug. How could it be a bug if this walking thru stadium walls has been in every, single game?

You can see the problem this year is because of the canned animations plus it is the first year that EA has used collision detection for their team tackles and regular tackles. What seems to have happened here is that the canned animation of the drop back goes through and because of a glitch, Farve's control isn't given over to the player. Then when you see the steelers player try and tackle him, it glitches again, the collision fails to tackle Farve and instead changes his direction to the left side of the field, and because the drop back animation is still running, Farve still runs to the side line. As far as the running through the crowd, obviously the stadiums have no collision detection. Of course, most of you don't realize that would require making two inside walls for the stadium, one that just sits there and doesnt interact with anyone, and one that does when the character runs into it. The reason why this isnt there is because it would be excess stuff on the field that wouldn't actually be doing anything until the player interacts with it. What should have been done was a canned animation of a player jumping on the the inside wall while fans pat him on the back. Sounds easy enough right? It's those little things that will always make Madden a football GAME and not a Simulation.

the last time i bought an EA basketball game was for N64.

it would always happen at the very end of a game. the camera would get stuck on the in bound side of the court and would not follow the player with the ball to the other side of the court. if i was a few points ahead i would lose because i could not see what was going on.

simple explanations for the bugs

1) He was obviously just holding backward on the control stick along with another button to keep him in the animation, then just pressed left to get him to go the sidelines. Probably had his friend controlling the guys on the other team to make sure they don't tackle him.

2) Walking through the stadium wall isn't a bug, it's probably just that stadium and it was overlooked to give the wall at that spot any geometry or whatever. Big deal, Madden sucks but these aren't even "bugs."

TheSadTruth is these are bugs. Whether he was controlling Farve or not doesn't excuse the fact that the A.I. didn't tackle him when he was an easy target and yes he was the only one playing the game. Did you see any other players with a control icon under them besides Farve? I didn't. So this is either a A.I. issue or a controller issue.

And passing through solid matter is a bug, no matter how small it may seem. This is suppose to be football SIMULATOR, when have you ever seen a player run through the stands after, before, or during a touchdown. Overlooked or not both of these are BUGS and are so small that they should've been fixed.

I wouldn't really call the brett farve thing a big deal, random stuff like that happens in most games. If it occurs repeatedly though then theres a problem. Similar random stuff happens in the nba 2k series, yet no one rags on them and calls the game buggy.

As for the walking through walls thing, the people complaining about that must not have played much madden in the past, because you've been able to do that in every single madden game I've ever played (several years on ps2 and 07 on the ps3). Just try it on your ps3 versions and I'll bet you $1000 you can walk right through the wall at the back of the endzone at any point in the game. So its not so much a bug as it is another ea laziness staple (just like the refs not being on the field and no nets behind the goalpost). To me a bug is trying to get something right and failing, this is even worse than a bug because the problems have been there for years with the series yet they didn't even try to fix it.

alright i stopped reading halfway thru so if somebody has said this already, please dont yell/take bubbles.

people are saying how he went through the wall because it was running at 60 fps. whoever says this is either really tired or has no clue what he is talking about.

if you want a player to move 100 pixels in a second, and the framerate is 10 fps, then every frame he moves 10 pixels. this means everything under 10 pixels in size will be skipped right over collision-wise because the player wont touch it.

now if you want a player to move at the same rate(100 pps) and the frame rate is 60, then the player moves 1 and 1/3 of a pixel per frame, so he will hit anything that is over about a pixel in size.

the point is, higher framerates mean BETTER collision detection.

and don't disagree, im right.

To my surprise you can't, you have to buy another game FIFA World Cup isn't that some bull crap! ever since then I hate EA. EA is all about the money they don't care about the customer.

EA knows how to work on the 360...Since EA has been having problems with the ps3 I wonder how many bugs are in the ps3 version. But I see the sony boys are in here trying to bash on the 360...go ahead and have your fun...I dont blame you with all the recent bad news Sony has been getting. Bad AI, crappy reviews for Lair, Perfect scores for Bioshock, etc...

Only knobs would consider egm's semi retracted review as bad news for the ps3 and ubi's alleged bad AI. Grow up. The ps3 news, if you hadn't noticed, has been doing well for a couple months and will only get better but im pissed that ive been drawn into saying all this when the people who have done sh*t are EA not the 360 or their fans. The fact that EA have the ownership most of worlds sports licensing was a core advantage for them but this and their anal approach to release deadlines coupled with the knowledge that their games will sell no matter what has now weakened them as a games company imo. Its like they only care about churning out the next version which is becoming tedious and too obvious for many. SOME of EA's other games have so far managed to avoid this churn-like degradation. One of those is burnout which is fun to play and ill be getting the new 1 because EA seemed to have changed the formula a touch to avoid it getting too stale/churned.

Fightnight round 3 was a step in the right direction and even though i hate boxing sims i could appreciate the new effort that was put into that franchise. Please bring out another ssx as you have had more than enough time to freshen up that franchise too and with the hardware possible we should be in for a treat.

Has anyone played that game, its glitches are incredible! You can drive a tank up a verticle wall and the peoples legs don't even move sometimes when they walk. I think gamespot gave it about 20%. I saw one magazine say its gets a partial score because of the fact no one is forcing you to buy it!.

In the Playstation 3 version of Madden 2008, when you snap the ball to the Quarterback, the framerate stutters SO BADLY that you LITERALLY have to wait over one-half of a second before the ball gets to your Quarterback!!!

The Xbox 360 version plays GREAT, because it has a silk smooth framerate that constantly runs at 60 frames per second.

It's like the reviews say, "The Xbox 360 version runs at a smooth 60 frames per second at 1080p resolution," while the Playstation 3 version, "Struggles to run at 30 frames per second at 720p resolution."

Xbox 360 versions of Madden 2008, NCAA Football 2008, and All-Pro 2K8 are OBVIOUSLY the BEST versions of Football we have EVER seen!

Madden 2008 displays a similar number of polygons per frame on both the Xbox 360 and PS3 (although obviously higher on Xbox 360), and Xbox 360 displays twice as many frames each second: 60fps vs 30fps. Therefore, Xbox 360 has TWICE the visual smoothness and TWICE the gameplay responsiveness.

Polygon Power is the reason why Xbox 360 is SO MUCH BETTER!

Xbox 360 hardware displays up to 500,000,000 polygons per second, compared to only 275,000,000 for PS3. THAT is why Football games on Xbox 360 LITERALLY display TWICE as many polygons; they have TWICE the framerate! Just look at specs on boxes to see Xbox 360 offers FAR more Polygon Power than PS3.

EA is NOT the only company with PS3 problems! Virtually ALL developers have PS3 game-development problems.

2K Sports made it 100% clear that All-Pro Football 2K8 was, "Built from the ground up for the Playstation 3," yet it STILL runs at only 30fps at 720p on PS3, compared to 60fps at 1080p on Xbox 360. ALL OF THE DEVELOPERS have BIG problems with PS3.

There are video side-by-side comparisons where you can see how VASTLY superior the Xbox 360 versions of the games are. The 1up website actually says "only a fool would consider buying the Playstation 3 version rather than the Xbox 360 version." The Xbox 360 really does offer the BEST version of Madden we have EVER seen with Madden 2008!!!

And by the way, I am NOT a fanboy; I am just someone who is explaining the truth and giving the reasons why there is a performance difference. I am doing that for my fellow gamers so they know which version of Madden 2008 is best. As this 5 out of 5 review shows, the Xbox 360 version of Madden 2008 is best!

It has now been 100% confirmed that the "Lambo Leap," glitch also appears in the Playstation 3 version of the game.

People are saying that EA will release a download that fixes that problem for the Xbox 360. No announcement has been made about a soluton for the PS3 version of the game.

The author of this youtube video is not saying that he is upset with the Xbox 360. The author of this youtube video is CLEARLY saying that his is primarily angry with EA, not the Xbox 360 or Playstation 3.
