What I learned from Starcraft

Lessons we learn in video games are always going to carry over to real life in one way or another. While the value of these lessons may vary between laughably negligible, such a killing hookers in Grand Theft Auto to get your money back, to genuinely valuable – games will usually have some sort of knowledge to impart on their players – even if they don’t realize they’re learning something. Such was my case with the original Starcraft.

Was aware the iconic Starcaft IP was jumping to South Korea ....

jznrpg81d ago

Weird MS is letting go of a good IP. I don’t mind it but hopefully the best dev wins and I’m not sure who that is outbid those.

Sonyslave381d ago (Edited 81d ago )

What they are bidding for are exclusive rights to develop the IP. Microsoft/blizzard is essentially licensing it out to the highest bidder, not selling the IP.

I wonder if we'll see Starcraft Ghost come out of this. And if we do, I wonder if it'll be a free-to-play gacha game.

goken80d ago (Edited 80d ago )

Given the potential developers, looks inevitable there will be free to play gacha versions. But given south korea’s love for starcraft there would be one that is inline with starcraft 1&2.
Might want to expect some sort of backdoor cheat that only south koreans know of lol 🤣

Nah that's long since dead and gone it's only good is a leaked Dev build

It Seems Pretty Clear Why StarCraft 3 is Not a Thing Yet

They sort of ran the story as far as it could go.

Also, it seems like blizzard is more busy with mediocrity at this point in time.

Jingsing580d ago

The problem with Blizzard is they have franchises that don't need sequels. People are happy playing the games that they previously made. What they need is new games, none of this business of trying to transport the old audience into a new version of an old game which only ends up nickle and dime'ing users.
