Metroid: Other M To Include Two Hour Movie Version Of Game

Once you finish playing next month's Metroid: Other M on the Wii, you can watch it. A "theater mode" will stitch the game's cut-scenes and some pre-recorded gameplay into a Samus epic.

Also, I'm still disappointed that there probably isn't an option to play the game in the original language, which is a shame, cause judging from the intro, the japanese voice-acting is better than the english dub.

It seems to me that the attention spans of the general public are in such a decline that they need to have summaries of a game, even though the whole point of the game is to play it.

What's next? Should every novel come with a summary of the entire events on the last page?

Because not everyone has time to make a second play-trough.
I would like to play the game if i didnt understand the story in my first play-trough. Its still handy for those who just dont have time or dont feel like finishing it again.

Its like the super-guide from super mario bros...you DO NOT have to use it.

Yeah and also for people that after finishing the game, maybe didn't quite get some of the story, this gives them the chance to quickly watch what has happened throughout the game in 2 hours rather than having to play the whole game again to understand. A nice touch

Movies roughly last about two hours. If you're telling me I can watch the entire game get played along with cut-scenes in about that amount of time then I'm guessing without cut-scenes the game would be like an hour long with a speed run >_>

Not good logic. Nowhere have they said the game would be 2 hours. Scenes from the game would be used in the 2 hour movie. If they made the movie as long as the game (say 8-15 hours) could you watch a movie that long?

After being completely reassured about this game after seeing it in motion...I'm just a little bit worried about theater mode. Not because of its inclusion; its length is what has me concerned. Almost 2 hours worth of cut scenes?

The standard Sakamoto-helmed Metroid usually clocks in around 6-12 hours, and a first play through of 8 hours or so of gameplay with 2 hours worth of cut scenes? That seems a bit much. Possibly spending 1/5 of our time watching the game instead of PLAYING it has me a bit uneasy.

Hopefully this game is longer than his usual games, though. If the Prime games could go for 20+ hours, a game like M:OM that's been in development since 2006 can, too.

I don't play games for cinematic experiences, I play them for the content. I hope the devs didn't get carried away with making a movie when in fact they should be focused on making the game.

The good thing is that the game play showed looks fantastic. I just hope this doesn't suffer from the whole "movie with a little game thrown in"

All this talk about finding out who Samus is has me worried too. I AM SAMUS. Especially, particularly, and ONLY when I play a Metroid game.

Game devs either need to remember what a game dev does, or become a movie director.

If this goes successful Nintendo could think about making an anime like poke except less repetitive but just as timeless. they already have a comic.

Man, I've been wanting to see this type of mode in a game for a very long time. FINALLY!

And the creators think that most players will get 30% on the first play-through? Pshhh! I usually get from 80-90% on the first.

that's a great idea i think, i mean, who plays through the whole game in a single sitting?
in a few games i've got to the end and it's referenced something that happened near the beginning and i'm thinking, when did that happen?
there are other games that i would like to see have this kind of feature, i think something like heavy rain where you'll spend more time watching the than whats going on, some sort of recap video would be great there i think.

replay the game to experience hidden cutscenes and CG and then you can watch everything to make sense.
