I was ok with it being $199 considering the dsi is $169. $249 pushes it out of reach of most people who want a portable...especially from nintendo.

Lets hope this is just a rumor. $199 w/demo game (like when the original ds came out w/demo of prime hunters) would be sufficient for me.

The PSPgo was $250, and if it comes with a free game and games are $40 (DS games are $40, makes no sense to drop the price), that makes it a $210 value. Honestly though, if a release date isn't announced at Gamescon then I think it will come out in 2011.

then there's the talk of people who actually are working with the thing praising its tech and power

saying that the 3ds can perform even much better power wise then what it has been shown to do so far if it did not use 3d

considering no official price has been revealed or even hinted at

I have played Peace Walker on the PSP it looks the b*llocks. I have yet to see game play on the 3DS surpass it. GAME PLAY!

Anything '3D' is going to be expensive. Just walk in to a Best Buy and see how expensive those 3d glasses are for new TVs: 150 bucks! It might be 250.

base bal fan that doesnt change the fact that the psp cost less than the ps3

and the psp go has some advantageous over the psp slim

16gb of internal memory
blue tooth which allows you to use a ps3 controller and head set witt the psp not to mention it has tv out put using the same jack that is used for charging

and people still thrashed the psp for being 50 dollars less than a ps3 which had a blu ray player

what do you think they would do if the 3ds is 50 dollars more than a wii and it only does 3d

You don't know what people see? For starters it's the first time 3D tech will be oon a handheld device, with no glasses. Graphics better than Wii and apparantly close to Xbox and PS3, and if it gets packed in with a game all the better.

Nintendo knows about flops because of prices they have seen the competition fall for it.

If a 249 3DS existed all Sony has to do is loose profits on a more powerful psp2 for 200 or 150 then it would be the opposite of this gen.

I don't know about that. Look at Wii, because it was 50 more than Gamecube and came with a game with specs only a little higher. Take DSiXl and add 50 dollars to it put in a game, and clearly the system is much more powerful and I don't know.....I think people will still buy it.

If there is no bundled in game then I'll agree and say that 250 is too high.

Gamecube was 200 dollars and Wii was 50 more with slightly higher specs and a great game. DSiXL + 50 dollars with a good game, a lot better technology and the chances increase a lot.

I agree that if there is no game then it shouldn't be 250.

As long as the game is a full fledged title and not a demo that price is fine. Wii was great because it came with Wii Sports. DS came with a Metroid demo and it was alright.

I could see them doing that. $250 launch price with a Nintendo game to showcase the 3D, probably a mini-game collection.

Then 6 months to a year later, whenever sales start to slow down or if the PSP2 becomes reality, do a price drop to $200 and regain momentum and\or undercut the PSP2.

They wouldn't miss the opportunity to get in the Christmas/Holiday Madness...most kids cant buy it, but what better way to get it for them then have the parents get it for them. And it will definitely be bundled with a game/extended demo of some sort. Tetris 3D? It would be like Gameboy all over again. I'm gonna guess $200. or $220. I can't see how they could price so much higher than a home console.

Look this is a prediction! Plus its like when Patcher said there will be a Wii HD, just not happening yet. You can make predictions and your always going to be sliding on Fact or Fiction till something comes out to blast your prediciton to a varible stasis.

Look the 3DS will NOT be 250 dollars, now that is my prediction. But with Nintendo already saying do the math when the DSi is 170 and the DSi XL is 190 then the 3DS will most likely be 210 since that gap is 20 dollars per upgrade.

There will probably be a OLD Super mario Bros or Old Nintendo game ports with 3D paddleball or something that comes with it.

Also the claims that this has the same graphics of a PSP is retarded...look at Peace Walker to Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D or PSP using 2D sprites compared to the 3DS 3D sprites in Street Fighter 4.

Also HAVE ANY OF YOU SEEN THE THING IN ACTION? NO! Your all making shit up without even seeing the tech first hand like the devs who say the thing can make wii like graphics without the 3D.
