Interview: Corey Marshall, voice of Ryo Hazuki

SEGAbits: "Courtesy of our awesome community member Supa comes a great interview with the English voice actor of Ryo Hazuki, Corey Marshall! Fittingly, this interview comes the day after Ryo’s fictional birthday. Ryo would have been forty-two years old. Check out the interview to see what Corey has been up to, hear some great stories from the days of Shenmue 1 and 2 and his thoughts on Shenmue City!"

I don't know what happened to these guys on the sequel though because there voice acting just went from great (Shenmue) to not even trying (Shenmue 2)

SilverSlug5262d ago

That is true, its like Ryo's dad die...

Yeah first one had better acting, sure it was cheesy but its good to have cheesy game acting sometimes.

Which version did you play?

I played the English version of Shenmue and the Japanese import version of S2.

Generally the Japanese voice acting is better, and in this case I found S2 to have better due to it being in Japanese. If you're talking about the Xbox version which is in English, then I can't comment as I haven't played that version.

I was talking about the Xbox version, that is what we got in the USA :(.

Maybe they were just sad that they killed off the Dreamcast, I know I was.

The fans want it, Yu Suzuki wants it, Sega wants it, Corey Marshall wants it, SOMEBODY FUND SHENMUE 3 PLEASE!!

Great times with Shenmue II, that game was pretty random, it got to a point where I wouldn't be experiencing the same thing as a friend of mine playing the game at the same time would! One minor example is the guy who needs you to help fix the sign near the hotel you first stay at, I didn't get that event but my friend did.

On modern tech. Would be awesome.

Shenmue Online was looking good especially when it was a "modern" take on the world of Shenmue II, if only SEGA didn't drop the ball and get it out in time, they could have had a great following in Asia over it, maybe they still can but the market is far more saturated now than it was in 2004.
