They pretty much hit it on the nail about some of the pros and cons...

But, they also finally admit that it makes sense to go after the casual market.

The one comparison they made that won't hold weight is to use 32x and Sega CD as a barometer on whether these peripheral can work. Both of those systems were made as upgrades and Sega failed to get them into alot of consumers hands. You also didn't have the internet and gaming wasn't nearly what it is today.

The key for success will be to concentrate on the strengths of what each can offer..

The hardcore was clearly not responsible for the success of Wii Fit or Just Dance.

If Micrsoft stands by it's promise to push Kinect and the bundle like the launch of a new system then the exposure will be there.

If they market Kinectimals for the young ones, Dance Central for the Tweens, and the Ubisoft fitness game for the women then it has a chance to reach the casuals.

If they promote the 'Minority Report' features and VideoKinect they might get the older crowd.

And finally if games like 'Child of Eden' which is the one I'm looking forward to then they might get the hardcore as well

It will be an interesting holiday for both systems nonetheless..

"Will it be 3D only?"
"Move version and non-move version"
"{Insert them NOT mentioning that you don't need a nav controller or second move controller at launch}"
"I think Kirby will do what LBP wanted to do"

The ignorant GT staff.

Tom Russo has a very good point in the last minute of the video (He talks about implementing something mid-lifecycle as a test, to then integrate it in the next console (Like Xbox Live did).

That's exactly what Sony is doing with 3D right now. They are introducing the technology for the people that can afford it, trying to prove that it is a new/fresh experience to play video games. It does affect the games a little bit, because they need to utilize resources to make the games 3D, but the intention Sony has is to integrate 3D in the next generation console.

The same cannot be said about Move. I think that Move is just there to capture Wii users, but I don't think is in Sony's plans to take it forward to the next-gen console.

zootang3685d ago

Echochrome 2 with the Move in 3D, you get the idea?

I think motion controls was a must for Sony and MS from a business standpoint. too much potential money being lost not to jump into motion control gaming. There is clearly a market for those types of games and to ignore it wouldn't be financial sound.

As for 3d it seems to have really taken off in Hollywood so it's no wonder it will be popular in home theaters. Why not get the ball rolling with 3D in gaming as long as it's just an option hopefully only for select titles since it will redirect resources. I personally get queasy but understand many people currently like it and will most likely enjoy 3D gaming.

Sony started with the Eyetoy (PS2) and continued with motion controls with the PSeye(PS3) along with the limited motion controller Six-axis. Now they are fully entering motion control gaming with Move. It is the only one that has shown to cater to all types of gamers. It is l;ike Sony has ben taking small steps toward motion controls since the Eyetoy. I believe next gen the PS4 will ship with a waggle and camera setup out the box but like now have limited or optional uses GTA5 head tracking/3d option + Socom motion controls option))along with motion only games (party games and sorcery game). Sony has proven to be the most diverse console manufacturer and will ost likely still be so next gen.

What are you talking about? Move is coming to hit as 3D.

Killzone 3, Echocrome, The Fight and others are coming to use Move with 3D.

D4RkNIKON3685d ago

Those are all confirmed and yet people disagree with you. People are something else aren't they.

Lightsaber3685d ago

I see this stuff as really test market for the next gen systems. Kinect is an interesteing idea but other then controller the inteface I really have no interest in it.

Sony 3D may some day be the stanard for gaming but at this point its basically in a per alpha state. How I thing this is at least 2 gens off they need to be able to make tv that dont need those stupid glasses at a price people are willing to pay.

DaRazorback3685d ago

completely agree with you. I was thinking the same thing.

Shane is the best person they ever put on Bonus round he hits all the points unbias and makes the most sense.

BYE3685d ago

What about N'Gai Croal and Garnett Lee from Shacknews, I think those guys out of the Bonus Round guests usually make the most sense.
