Ya I noticed that too, only a hand full of them are in game, and in those screenshots you can tell because the background looks like crap. The DOD is huge in Gears of War 3 apparently but I always thought it was that way for any Xbox360 game. Killzone 3 you can see the background as clearly as the foreground, because the PS3 can render both at the same time in as crisp a detail, Xbox360 not at all.

And in gears you can see the background CLEARLY. IF you focus the reticle on it! The DEPTH OF FIELD changes depending on what you focus on...sort of like.. a camera! If you played Gears2 you'd know this.

Those GoW 3 pictures aren't even really screens. I very much doubt they've paused the game and moved the camera around. First of all they've placed the characters in animations that don't exist in the game, so it's not a stretch of the imagination that they've edited the graphics a bit too.

I have to admit, never played Gears 2 and never will. I like how you guys hype that game. Gears 1 was one of the most boring games I played. I don't like the characters, I don't like the dialog (what dialog ? Stereotypical short phrases or what's that?), dump story (at least as dump as most other shooters which get marked down for story) and, wtf, what happened to the color ? I took screen shots, and I could swear I can convert them to 8bit grey scale and they would still look the same. But, it's OK to troll other games for being "grey", I know. I really enjoyed the first Gears which I played on my sons 360 - more so than Halo (not knocking it !)
Now the PS3 has something like parity with the 360, in terms of ownership, I expect Kz3 to find a much greater audience than Killzone 2 , which at the time of launch, was still shackled by a smaller PS3 community, relatively high console price and pre-slim launch. Oh and Sony badly under-advertised the game - here in the UK at least.

End of the day, do sales numbers really matter? You make your choice, pay your hard-earned and hopefully enjoy the ride.
Kz2 still does it for me and Im really up for some Killzone 3.

Gears cant even be compared to killzone 2-3. any gamer who owns both systems will tell you the same thing. Killzone 2 is years ahead of gears in every aspect. People seem to forget how absolutely brainless and average gears is.

wow I never realized how good KZ2 looked til now. KZ2 is mighty impressive indeed. I still don't like the lack of color and the fact everything seems like concrete. Everyone will disagree with my post but the thing that makes Gears 2 kind of stand out is it's textures. Not saying it's textures are better persay, but it has floor tiles and bricks and concrete and railings. It has a more appealing look on your eyes even if KZ2 has better graphics.

Generally, the visuals in KZ2 are noticeably better. Housing sleek gun meshes, motion blur and some of the best depth-of-field usage I have ever seen so I'd give the visuals to KZ2, and since I'm a FPS fan I'd give gameplay to KZ also. But that's just preference...

I've not seen anyone else post this so here it goes.
The GOW 3 "screens" aren't in game footage. The characters are all posing, meaning it's not in game and is what's called a "render". Where as the KZ 3 are actually screens from in game in an early build. And it looks good, better than GOW 3 will actually look on your TV. I'm not a fanboy, I've beaten GOW and liked it. I'm just pointing out what is at least obvious to me.

I just want to say that I enjoy both these games, but I just came from Bestbuy and tried out 3dtv and let me tell you I was extremely impressed. I wear glasses but the 3d glasses did not interfere with them. My wife who does not care for things like this tried the glasses on and she was floored by how well they worked. The point im making is KZ3 and Gears3 graphics are amazing, but KZ3 in 3D is going to be mind blowing. Just trying out the 3Dtv caused me and wife to get a Bestbuy card. I suggest that everyone who has doubts about 3Dtv go and try it out at Bestbuy you will not be disappointed. Also are the pictures of Gears3 gameplay ?

This shot alone rapes any bullshots from Gears3. They are still missing some other really beautiful KZ3 shots in this comparison though, I guess they knew then it would be totally unfair.

Another article comparing Gears and KZ, we all know how this ends every time, GeOW destroys KZ2 in sales, and KZ makes GeoW look like a PS2 game in comparison graphically, while fanboys mindless argue over these things saying my gearz is better then ur failzone cause ze online play and w/e, while the other side wil say my killzone is better then ur queers of war cause the online is busted and blah blah blah. while i personally prefer killzone, its just a poor comparison, TPS Vs FPS, if u must compare KZ3 to somethign at least keep it FPS vs FPS

This is a horrible article filled with horrible posters. Seriously? Comparing these two is rediculous. The games are still in alpha stages and these screenshots are laughable. Try putting two gamelplay pictures of each of the games with no funny camera angles and KZ3 will win everytime gaurenteed. Killzone 3 will obviously have better graphics than Gears 3 becuase it's a realism. ased game. Gears 3 should focus on matching KZ2 graphics because it won't come close to KZ3. All KZ3 has to do is add more guns(with primary and secondary), tweak the MP a bit, and bring back the offline co op skirmishes against the CPU. Thos were the good old days...my brother and I are alone against 10 helghast on beach head getting bombarded by grenades. Soooo fun lol. Here's my rant about gears. I rented the first one, and the game was pretty solid. The gameplay wasn't earthshattering nor was the graphics. But the game was fun no doubt. KZ3 defined Fps's and that was superb in all aspects. Just becuase gears sold better doesn't mean it's better. The 360 had a considerable lead in systems 2 years ago which is now fading. I saw gears commercials by the minute, never saw one KZ commercial. Now that KZ has left it's mark on the genre, expect the sales between them to be much closer this time. If only Sony would pump out so damn commericals for the game lol
