Vandal.net Review: Perfect Dark

Vandal.net: The club usually nostalgic players among their lists of favorite classic games from Nintendo 64, Rare, of course, many of its previous games such as Battletoads, but Perfect Dark may have a special place in his heart. And something had to guess at Rare when to launch Xbox 360 Perfect Dark Zero were ready.

PlayStation's Wolverine creative director is now leading Xbox’s Perfect Dark

Two major upcoming first-party video games have gotten big changes at the top, as part of an unusual leadership shuffle.

Why is it a developer who worked for a Sony game then moves to an MS game always a story?
I never see an article when it’s the opposite tho.

Tacoboto176d ago

Because it doesn't work that way?

Seems like most of the bigger names in Xbox don't go to Sony. Joe Staten to Netflix (now closed though). Mike Ybarra and another one or two to Blizzard/Activision (now back at MS). "Co creator of Halo" to studios they found or cofound. The guy who led Gears of War is now the guy leading Diablo.

And of course how Xbox doesnt have the talent in the first place to lose...

Some idiot called it "wokeness"

Now:

No sure why you´re acting like an insecure teenager, dude. Those people move from a company to another back and forth every time.

It´s not like they´re jumping ship or anything like that.

Chill

That’s strange. I thought Perfect Dark was close to release but it seems they are resetting.

Tacoboto176d ago

I think Wolverine might be more fitting of that description than Perfect Dark.

I mean, PD just got a creative director, Wolverine just lost its.

Nasdac176d ago

It's usual if he finish his work in there but it's unusual to get a creative director in a finish line product.

Wolverine got an in house replacement, someone who has been on the project from the outset. PD just got someone who now has to be onboarded. How much can a new outside creative director do this far in development assuming it's releasing in 2026?

Obscure_Observer176d ago

@mkis007

"How much can a new outside creative director do this far in development assuming it's releasing in 2026?"

A lot. The new creative director at this point will probably work on side missions, new cosmetics, weapons, gadgets and future DLCs.

Not resetting the games most likely a 2026 release.

FinalFantasyFanatic176d ago

I feel like it's always in development, is this the same game they've been working on since the 360? Or is this a sequel/reboot/whatever?

Obscure_Observer176d ago

"That’s strange. I thought Perfect Dark was close to release but it seems they are resetting"

We heard the same crap when Darrell Gallagher brought Crystal Dynamics on board.

We already have an official gameplay trailer for Perfect Dark and it looks fantastic and got people hyped!

Wolverine on the other hand... well, let´s just wait for Insomniac to reveal anything (non leaked).

Tacoboto176d ago

Those leaks really killed my hype for it so honestly, PD getting its CD did nothing to get me more or less excited for either.

Could entirely be that we haven't seen anything official yet because internally they didn't like the creative direction was headed for Wolverine.

Or it could be just that Brian Horton wanted to work with The Initiative because he's another former Crystal Dynamics guy, as he was the director of Rise of the Tomb Raider.

Such shuffles are not unheard of. There may have been unforeseen circumstances that have taken place. Having somebody to help steer the ship once the position is opened up is better than no direction.

At this point most design/art bibles are already set, and the game director is helping the game become feature complete. The new creative director should help hone in the cinematics, designs, whatever remains of the story much easier than having to start from scratch for both these projects.

Can't wait for both of these projects to come to full fruition. Wolverine seems to be almost ready for primetime reveal. Curious what this will mean for the end products!

Perfect Dark Reboot's Stunning Gameplay Checks All The Deus Ex Boxes For Me

Perfect Dark surprises in its gameplay reveal as the creative mechanics and incredible design choices bring back the Deus Ex feel perfectly.

isarai315d ago

Uuuuuuh....what?

Maybe you got your games confused but that was nothing like deus ex besides being a fps

Sonic1881314d ago

It had more of mirror edge and Dying Light than dues ex

313d ago
porkChop314d ago

Idk when I watched the gameplay to me it seemed like a mix of Deus Ex: HR and Mirror's Edge.

RaidenBlack314d ago

It had a sci-fi immersive sim feel (when not parkouring) ... which is Deus Ex's territory ... hence the comparison

MrBaskerville314d ago

Did seem like it had potential imsim elements. Probably less rpg stuff than deus ex I'd wager.

I don't get how a scripted and edited gameplay video can have you believe this game is anything like Deus Ex. Especially without it having much context as to what the general gameplay loop will be like.

MrBaskerville314d ago

We saw some hacking, stealth, combat and such, that's where the vibe came from. Seems like you might get a wide variety of options for dealing with the levels. That's why people think of Deus Ex. It

Inverno313d ago

Yes but how many games have we've seen that have shown off mechanics that give the impression that it'll be one way and then turns out there isn't really much depth to those gameplay mechanics other than just being extra padding? Can't trust gameplay videos these days, half of it is deceitful marketing.

aaronaton313d ago

Same, I thought the animation quality was subpar. I don't understand what people are seeing that I'm not!?

Crows90313d ago

You're correct. Xbox fans have been not getting anything "exclusive" for so long that they don't know how to control themselves when after mostly 2 entire generations they've gotten close to nothing.

They lack the ability to look at things critically.

Crows90313d ago

Oh geez. People have really gotten drunk on the MS show Koolaid.

They didn't show what the game will be or play like at all.
If anything it seems to try to take the cyberpunk approach. So I'm actually really concerned for it since they didn't show anything specific or any long period of gameplay segments. It didn't show what the world would be like and how you fit in that world either
