Bakugan Battle Trainer isn't bad, but it doesn't do itself any favors. The amount of content is severely lacking. The adventure is short and not worth playing again. Even the presentation is a big step down from what the last game did. Worse off, there is no multiplayer element in a series designed for it. If you like Bakugan, you might find some amusement in it, but anyone just mildly interested will not be entertained. Hopefully, the next game will make the proper adjustments and deliver a proper Bakugan gaming experience.
KidzWorld:
If you are a really big fan of Bakugan, you will have some fun with this game. If you are new to Bakugan, then it is probably better to try the other Bakugan game first to see what Bakugan really is about.
CheatCC says, "It will be interesting to see where the developers take the next Bakugan game. Wherever they take it, they had better add a multiplayer component to it, even an ad-hoc system would be better than nothing. I can't recommend this game to fans of the series, since it's so far from the beaten path. Nor would I recommend it for newbies, since they won't learn how to play the original game. Then again, the entire franchise may be heading in this direction, but something tells me this version is just an anomaly. It's up to you if you want to spend your money on this gaming experiment. I would advise approaching it with caution. And by caution, I mean renting or borrowing it."
As they say in the business, Bakugan is 'hot' right now. More than 55 million Bakugan toys were sold in 2008, meaning that every four seconds; one Bakugan toy is bought in the US. Just like any other popular playthings, Bakugan has its own cartoon show as well, and it's the top game for boys ages 6 to 12. So what IS Bakugan, anyway? Well, it's like a cross between a collectible trading card game such as Yu-Gi-Oh or Pokemon, mixed with the classic playground game of…marbles?!? Yup, marbles! Marbles that turn into…monsters! No wonder why it's so popular with the kids. And now young fans can enjoy their Bakugan in a whole new way with Battle Trainer on the DS.
