CheatCC says, "The story and characters are a total wash, and the gameplay doesn't change up much. It's also a fairly short adventure for a console RPG. The battle system, however, is innovative and fun, sans a few extraneous additions. In the end, though, the package and the asking price don't match up well."
Evan discusses how trophies and achievements can add or take away from value and gaming experiences.
Trophies are always iffy for me. I'd rather gain unlockable weapons and modes from completing a game if I had to choose but very rare that a modern game offers both.
“Prior to our release of Z.H.P. Unlosing Ranger VS Darkdeath Evilman, it was a period of great struggle for us,” says NIS CEO Sohei Niikawa.
Meristation: Last Rebellion comes to us, a title resulting from the collaboration between Nippon Ichi and Hit Maker, which aims to fill the void in the genre on the PlayStation 3 have role in this generation.
I think it's a good game. If this exact same game had come out for the PS2, it would have probably gotten very different reviews. It isn't perfect but I thoroughly enjoyed my time with it. I wasn't crazy about it at first, but by the time I had beaten it, I was really loving it. The music/soundtrack absolutely kicks ass, and Aisha is one of my favorite new characters. The battle system is really fun, too.
The only drawbacks are the bland graphics (not ugly, they're actually very crisp and smooth in 1080p, just lacking in detail) and the length. There's really no reason to replay this game and you can 100% it in 15 hours or so. I mean, I've seen games that are a lower value than that, but it still isn't worth 50 bucks. I might have bought it rather than rented it if it were 40 bucks like they originally intended it to be, but 50 is a little pricey for the amount of content you get.
I may buy it some day when it has price drops because I have all the other NIS games and it could be neat to have in my collection.
